Is there a reason you are limiting yourself to just RCI and Carnival? You might want to look at Princess or Celebrity for "less kids".

I also prefer Celebrity, but if you re-read the OP'S question, they want to party somewhat.   Celebrity does not fit that bill IMO.

  2. Oh...as far as being seasick.  My oldest son gets violently ill on ships.  He has been taking Bonine (over the counter) for many years and works like a charm.  It can make you a little drowsy (especially if you drink)....so take it at night before you go to bed..EVERY night and start taking it the day before your cruise begins.

  3. Both cruise lines are great for families.  I have been on many on both lines.  Do you have a ship in mind?   Oasis class for RC has tons and tons of things to do for everyone in the family.  My kids LOVE the Oasis class.  (they are older than your children).  BUT...they also have a great time on Carnival.  You really cannot go wrong with either.

  4. I have been on both the Pride and the Grandeur.  Your children will love the Pride as it has much more to do.  We were just on the Grandeur and although we absolutely loved it, there is not a ton to do, especially for kids.  The clientele was older, maybe 50+....and I only recall seeing a handful of kids. Perhaps in the summer there are more children.   Yes, casinos on both ships and although food is very subjective, we were very happy with both ships.  The service and staff on the Grandeur cannot be beat.

  5. All TA’s are different.  An impossible question to answer unless we had the same TA.  I like being in control of my cruises and would never rely on someone else.  Do your homework before hiring a TA. I’ve read some really bad stories about some. (There have also been some very good ones).  I would do dummy bookings before hand also. That way I would know the bottom line if I booked through the cruise line.

    Yikes!!!   Not a good sign

We looked at edge and msc yacht and msc was half the cost .

Hi George.  I was going to suggest MSC as I have the Divina and the Meraviglia both booked for this year, BUT, I could not give my personal opinion yet as I have not sailed them yet.  Four more weeks though....yipeeeeeee

  8. I would be a little leary with the month of March, unless it is longer than 7 days.  This is Spring Break and there may be tons of kids.

We have been on NCL'S mega Breakaway and Royals mega ships also.   (Allure and Oasis).  Royal does not offer free drink packages and to be honest, NCL really does not either.  They have changed to all inclusive now and raised their prices substantially.

How about checking Celebrity.  They really do not gear towards kids.  We loved the Equinox out of Miami to the ABC Islands.  12 days...and amazing.  One of our favorite cruises.  Great food and service.  They offer perks during their sales. (drink package, etc.).  They also have a brand new ship called The Edge.

  9.  It is interesting that you note that.   (as stated by you)

Did you think we would not notice....lol  ?  You did offer that piece of information....which now makes me wonder why you received "different" service than others.  Were there any other couples around your age in the YC?   I find this very interesting.  Could there have been another reason?    Only asking because my children are all in their 30's and always receive the same respect that we do.  Fascinating.

  10. On the Grandeur in November....we LOVED our cruise,  but for 12 days straight, were constantly, constantly badgered....especially for Giovanni's.   (which we already had reservations for).  In all fairness though, it was the first cruise  we were continuously harassed for.
