Ovation of the Seas-Alaska-May 5, 2022-May 13, 2022

I found that turning off airplane and connecting to local carrier, it really depends on your location on the ship. Outside, no issues with local connectivity. Inside the ship, so-so. YMMV -

@graphicguyI talked to one of the performers after you left and they may do a shortened version of Pixels, that we saw rehearsals for. She said check Compass on sea days. -

STOP, please with your theories. Read the red banner on top of Royal board, and please let @graphicguy continue with his excellent live thread and no peanut gallery comments. Lots of other threads you can snark on. Thank you.- 546 replies

Since some of us are on the ship, and try to give you correct info, I have heard 4500…however, it could be a bit less after boarding. I heard 4000 on this sailing, but my room steward said 3900. -

Funny you say that…I also have TMobile and only got 3G today. I didn’t look in town, but this is on ship. -

I had Sprint back in 2012 when I was here, and there were a couple of places it didn’t work, and Alaska was the 49th state then too. 🙄 Thankfully, cell sites have been much improved in the last several years. -

I am so sorry to hear of all the issues. Hope your husband feels better. This ship sitting around for 6 months did not help either. It’s been a world of difference from the last Oct. cruise last year to this one. They are just not prepared. -
I should get one on the Ovation this week. I talked to concierge, and he said they were getting them together.

Just an FYI, there have been no formal nights yet. All casual. I did see people dressed up on the 2nd night, but on app and Compass, I triple checked and it said casual. Maybe some are creatures of habit, and assumed the 2nd day (sea day) was formal. Will report back on our last 2 sea days. Another gorgeous day in Skagway. People walking off at about 0715. I’m going to chill and walk into town in a couple of hours. Let the masses get off first. -
On Ovation now, and they are being delivered nightly

Luggage Valet- Is it still offered?
crzndeb replied to dsvd79's topic in Royal Caribbean International
Yup, on the Ovation now, and being offered in Seattle. -
On the Ovation now, and there are a couple of cases with books in the library area. I haven’t looked to see what kind.

Some that say there is plenty to eat, ships are seriously lacking healthy snacks, like nuts or trail mix. I usually bring a little of both.

I’m excited to try my first Celebrity cruises next year on the Edge. Rome-Dubai and Dubai-Singapore. -

I saw a couple of pumps, downstairs in Music Hall, but I couldn’t tell you what they were 😬 -

Doesn’t look like we will make it all the up to Dawes Glacier. Lots of ice in the water. Capt. did do some turns in Endicott Arm, and headed out now. It’s a beautiful day out, and temp was 36, when I went to get coffee at about 7am. Supposed to get to Juneau at 1pm. Here is a pic of Dawes Glacier from last Oct. -

quick question: Surf vs. Surf and Stream
crzndeb replied to Kellie in Texas's topic in Royal Caribbean International
I’m on the Ovation now & have S&S. It works, but does drop often, if I’m not constantly using. It can also be pretty slow at times. Videos can be jumpy. You would definitely need Surf and Stream. They have mentioned the slow internet in the Cruise Compass. -

Just happened to look out window today and saw a couple of whale blows. They didn’t come up, but at least got it on video. It is 8:50 pm and still bright as can be outside. -

It is beautiful and sunny but says 43 air temp right now. It’s warm on the ship. I’m in short sleeve Tshirt and sandals. You will definitely feel the chill in port. I’m pretty used to these temps, so I just brought sweatshirts and a fleece jacket. If you have a weather app, put in the port cities and check right up until you leave. It should be pretty close. -

I agree. I’m in the very front and it’s not bad to me. Gentle rocking is the perfect way to describe. Of course, some may feel it feels like it’s 30ft swells...lol The Top Tier event was a bit confusing. App said D+ and Pins, but Compass said Plat and above. They were checking cards, so I guess it was Plat and above. I don’t usually attend. It was pretty uneventful. I think people like the free drinks, but after a couple of Dirty Martinis last night, I wasn’t quite up for alcohol at 10am...getting to old, I guess.
