  1. Necessary, but nowhere near as fun as casino and shops. I think it might also answer the questions about why the passengers have to return to the ship at night.😃
  2. Thought this was interesting article about the port of Mobile and future improvements. It gives some hope that the channel might be able to accommodate larger ships after 2025. https://www.alports.com/container-terminal-delivers-strongest-month-in-history/
  3. That's a great idea. Will give it a try, before the next trip. I'm sure my not so discerning palate will be happy.😁
  4. My husband has accused me of cheating on Captain Morgan with Admiral Nelson sometimes. No questions will be answered about Sailor Jerry, though. 🤪 In all seriousness, the last Carnival sailing we were on in March had Kraken rum which I prefer over the others.
  5. We had the suite sticker in March on the Ecstasy and needed to show it for debarkation. I suspect on the Cheers sticker it is to alert the drink server if attempting to order a drink in a souvenir glass that the glass is not covered. Hopefully, it avoids a conflict when the drink is delivered and the bill is presented. I agree, the system knows at ring up if it is a Cheers sale or not.
  6. We did Halloween with my mom and our daughter in 2010. We dressed as M&Ms, with everybody a different color. Many other people dressed in creative costumes for the costume contest, too. We have great memories from the cruise and can assure you that your fellow passengers will be dressed for the day.
  7. DH suggested that instead of "gold by the inch" Carnival begin selling "pasta by the inch" and see who is willing to put their money where their mouth is.😋
  8. Day 1 is the day you get on the ship at port. In your case, it would be Monday as it is the day of embarkation.
  9. If I remember correctly, Carnival does not provide the large spoon for twirling long pasta noodles. On a serious note, I thought the shorter cruises of 4-5 days deleted the lobster from the elegant night menu? Or has this changed, too?
  10. To this day, I break my pasta (and cookies too) because I think some of the calories will fall out.😜
  11. I remember the pools that were cut in half for slide safety. Congratulations on your upcoming anniversary.😃
  12. Thank you for the kind replies. We are sailing on both Fantasy class and Conquest class, at different times of the year. One roll of quarters coming up.😁
  13. Are the self serve laundry machines coin operated or do they use the Sign and Sail card?
  14. I think it would be a good idea to have it. I don't remember if I needed it or not. Someone else will probably chime in and answer that question with more accuracy. Have a great cruise.😃
  15. In the past, we have called CCL customer service and had the bookings linked together before the cruise date.
  16. I agree the above posts are realistic times on a normal day. Events can and do happen out of anyone's control that will push embarkation much later in the day. Our last cruise out of Mobile we were group A1, suite priority, and we boarded at approximately 4:30 in the afternoon. The ship had encountered mechanical problems at port the day before, and began the domino affect of late time for the next sailing. Mobile can also have port closures for fog during certain times of the year, twice we have received an extra day at sea on the return and once delayed on embarkation for weather. Hope for the best, but be prepared for the worst.
  17. I would be interested in this, too. I make my own hot sauce, but it does not have the same consistency as the sauce on the ships.
  18. We typically choose YTD. We sailed a holiday cruise, before Covid shutdown, and learned one of the large drawbacks. Elegant night was scheduled for Christmas day and we dressed for the meal. On that sailing, set dining and YTD was in the same restaurant, unlike the separate dining areas that seem to be the norm now. We checked in and took our pager, we milled around and had drinks for approximately an hour. We finally gave up, turned in the pager and went to the buffet before it closed, too. I cannot find a positive description of going through a buffet line in a formal gown. We continue to book YTD, but will book set dining on special occasion trips.
  19. Clothing is also a household good.😲
  20. Too much salt is never good for anyone's diet.
  21. Might be the dangers of passing out amongst friends. We have seen the souvenirs of a more permanent type that take laser treatment to remove. LOL🤪
  22. Since the restart, we have taken approximately 5 cruises and have not used it. We will not use it for our upcoming cruises either. I could not determine where our passport and health information is transmitted or stored, so will not consider using it. In my opinion, it takes no longer to look at a sheet of paper than it does a phone screen. Over and above, we still have to carry the paper copies and have them available, if there is a question at the port. This is a deal breaker for us, if it becomes a requirement.
  23. My husband and I have sailed HAL. We chose HAL because it was less expensive than Carnival for the same itinerary. Initially, Carnival's stateroom price was less than HAL. HAL was offering a promotion for the drink package, so once all the costs and fees were added HAL received the booking based on total cost for the cruise. We enjoyed the HAL cruise very much. It was a longer cruise so we appreciated the ability to pack light and purchase a laundry package, daily Mass with a priest on board, a dance club that could play a variety of passenger requested music such as AC/DC or Journey much later in the evening, and no CD announcements over the ship's intercom unnecessarily waking us up to spend money (Captain only). Additionally, we enjoyed participating in a 5K on the ship to raise money for cancer research. In our opinion, the buffet and MDR on HAL were more a showcase of quality food, than a focus on quantity food. We will consider the increased cost of other lines for ship only destination travel, such as Antarctica or the Amazon River. The travel market is competitive and if we can fly, drive, bus, or train to a destination and have a similar or better experience, we will choose the most cost effective option.
  24. I agree with all of the above posts. We have never been on the ships, Glory or Valor, before 11:00. Add a mishap into the mix and the embarkation becomes much later.
