  1. I don’t like Nietzsche and Ensenada. I do however, like roasted chicken, Gin Sours and Riesling wine.
  2. HAL does Multi-hotel stops with shuttle buses; bigger motor coaches for groups. HOWEVER, keep in mind that if you booked your own hotel you must find your own way to the ship.
  3. My music tastes won’t be changing much. With that said, because a cruiseline parent company like CCL that offers Uber luxe 5-star experiences, amusement parks and on down to bare bones sailings, they will probably have something for me. Insofar as Mick Jagger is nearing 80 and I’m not far behind, I suspect the Millennials will eventually force music entertainment changes not to my liking. When that happens I’ll be happily in bed by 8 with my iTunes earbuds.
  4. I am OK with whatever people post. I’ve read COUNTLESS reviews of a cruise we’ve returned from, some from guests who seemed to be on another Planet. I’m occasionally quite sure who posted them too.
  5. VOLENDAM is probably the next one to eventually leave their fleet
  6. It appears CCL is finally showing it’s Corporate hand a bit more; ie No big purchases of ships. Wondering if they will retire more than they bring on line?
  7. Fruitcake, NO!! Final answer. But a nice, moist Date-nut bread with Walnuts, maybe some raisins, Vanilla etc?? Heavenly. Finally above 0/F Degrees here in Minnesota with 24” of snow.
  8. Cruiselines find ‘Wasted Spaces’ onboard then somebody is tasked with wringing some revenue out of it. Libraries to CoffeeBars is but the latest. Remember vast windy (and empty) top-decks?? Waterslides, roller coasters, climbing walls now. Promenades? Veranda cabins now. Times change…
  9. Library space on cruiseships can be repurposed for selling latte’s and Coffees and accessing $For-Pay’ Internet etc. KINDLE killed of hard-copy books in a major way also; but Cunard still has nice libraries, BTW.
  10. I think you are correct. Punishing $Debt$ servicing hobbles them and future Competition will humble them.
  11. I agree. Carnival/Princess/Costa trend, however, is big and BIGGER. HAL’s market is so-oo competitive on price for $Base Fare$ that it seems nearly desperate to get us aboard, then Up-charge, which is fine with me only to a point. Time will tell…
  12. HAL seems to be ‘Up-charging’ ad finitum lately once we get aboard their vessels. Q: Will their next shoe to drop be Mega-ships, or can they make their 2,000/PAX vessels $profitable$?? I hope they can. $8/share stock tells me sumpthins gotta give. Soon…
  13. I PRINT OFF everything. Air/Hotel/Cruise etc. I Even print screen-shots I take of my Computer Screen. I leave the house with a 3-ring binder of it all. Takes up minimal suitcase space. Came in VERY handy once..
  14. Leisure ship builds/rebuild folks surely wish they didn’t have their punishing debt to deal with; guessing it will take good old-fashioned $$Profit$$ before we outsiders will get a clear idea where the Big 3 fleet’s upgrades are headed. I was on one of MAASDAM’s last voyages, long overdue for being sold, IMHO. I’m suggesting a coupla others are due..
  15. I agree. I’m often curious how the 5 & 6-star brands can keep ‘mature’ ships going instead of going to new builds ala Viking. So, it’s doable I guess..
  16. As the OP, my intent was to wonder aloud what vessels will be plying the 7Seas, doing World Voyages etc. once the current crop of 2000/PAX vessels age and the Big 3 apparently turns to Mega-ships.
  17. I note that CCL trumpets to the Financial Audience their move to Big Ships. Wondering what vessels will ply the 7 Seas?
  18. So it’s a real Travel Agency owned by Carnival Corp. that only books Air….. I’m still left wondering why I could book a Flt. Minneapolis/Rome and they/she couldn’t.
  19. If you are correct, then FlightEase is an in-house Carnival Corp. entity. Wondering if the people on the other end, however, are working from home as free-lancers. Methinks I’ll be inclined to book Air myself to better eagle-eye Flt. Options etc.
  20. Is FlightEase a licensed in-house Travel Agency? How is it different than using a Holland personal cruise consultant?. I don’t get it…
  21. I’m guessing HAL will soon be getting rid of their older ships. VOLENDAM probably is one. Sounds like this one is another.
  22. My guess is that the Accounting Dept has told Food/Ent/Housekeeping Depts. they must do more with $less$. The Quarterly Rpts. say as much. But there comes a point….
  23. My ORIGINAL Post’s intent was to note that little extras that previously were ‘Part of the Deal’ on HAL are no more. My 1st cruise was 1973, my most recent a coupla months ago; and 1st & 2nd Class ala Cunard seems to be making a comeback, but they’re renaming it HIA & Club Orange, Neptune Lounge etc etc. Must one go on the Up-scale cruiselines now to find those Bling-bling goodies as standard fare?? Maybe so. Whatever….
