  1. Morning all

Chilly here too, at 5°, but pretty much dry.  We had rain overnight, if it was real rain I heard and not just part of a dream.  We have an *artisanal market* around the place today.  Handy if you need to buy an artisanal, I guess?  They were setting up their stalls and gazebos as Hattie & I were walking an hour ago.  Looked like nice stuff, but seriously, it’s all *stuff* and we’re trying very hard not to fill our place with more and more stuff.  We’ll have a look round after our proper dog walk - maybe there will be tasty treats, which is a much more attractive proposition

Have a lovely day all.  Bon voyage @zap99 and @IlovemygardenHope you have smooth seas and sunshine ☀️

I would appreciate some advice on why I can’t access this forum on my ipad today. Seems fine on my phone and I have searched for help on my ipad but no luck. Has anyone else got this problem?

    Afternoon all

Yes, I’ve had IT issues today.  Couldn’t access CC at all via the iPad. iPhone appeared OK but I don’t/can’t/won’t use that teeny screen and keypad for recreational browsing etc.  I’m glad whatever the glitch was, it’s been resolved

… and after all that, I really have nothing to say!  I’ll enjoy reading the threads though, and maybe I’ll find something to comment

    Have a good rest-of-the-day everyone

  3. Michael Palin seems an all round good egg

You may be interested in a 3 part retrospective on BBC Radio 4 Extra, recently broadcast but available anytime on BBC Sounds

Called (iirc) Michal Palin - The Radio Years - he is in discussion with John McCarthy and there are pieces from old works

He has had a long (and distinguished, and continuing) broadcast career.  Sort of silver medal to David Attenborough’s gold 🙂)

We booked some speciality restaurants on Arvia and a RC cruise, so paid the deposit. Some early booking offers on trips and restaurants tempted us. Then an email reminding us that £700 odd was due for a trip to St Ives in June. We went to town today with my credit card statement which arrived this morning. DW said shall we just have a McDonalds for lunch. Do you know how much a happy meal costs?😂. At least I didn't waste money on things like eyes and teeth.

Have a lovely cruise anyway zap 🚢

  5. Have a wonderful time, both of you - and the rest of your party.  What a shame someone is missing 😕.  I think there should be much raising of glasses on your exclusive dinner table, “To absent friends”

I hope you have a lovely waiting team

    Enjoy the carpets!

(I had an email from P&O wrt my booking from the 2026 schedule … “We can’t wait to welcome you onboard - just 126 weeks” 😳🤣)

  6. That all sounds good Brian - a real change from your Italian second home and very enjoyable

I’ve put a deposit on a 5 night trip on Britannia in 2026, using the FCC which somehow remained on my account 🤷‍♀️.  If anyone else has FCC (somehow I doubt it - this forum is full of very active cruisers), I noted that it needs to be committed by July 2027. Talk about Plan Ahead!

We did the annual bluebell walk yesterday.  Very enjoyable but we would have liked a little more sun, particularly for the pictures

    Have a lovely day everyone

  7. Morning all.  London Marathon day, so it must be Spring!  It’s a lovely sunny day here, though that nightly wind is still around

All seems very calm round these parts.
I have £93 in FCC (don’t ask me how - I don’t understand how the financial stuff from cancelled cruises was worked out). It’s not exactly burning a hole in my pocket, and my TA tells me it’ll stay on my account indefinitely, but I’m wondering if I should book something from the latest release?  I’ll look again today

  8. Good news Jane (except for lazy Teddy, of course)

@indiana123 - hope you got some sleep in your expensive hotel room.  Perhaps you’re already asleep again and undergoing the procedure?  Very best wishes for that.  Constant pain is so terribly draining and disruptive

It’s a bit drier and milder here.  We’re off to the caravan for a few days, so we’ll have a change of scene, at the very least

  9. So miserable tonight.  If we were at the coast I would say it was sea fret or east coast haar.  Horrible

A local restaurant has changed hands so we gave it a try

    Mixed arancini/padron peppers

    gnocci/asparagus risotto

All very tasty (and, I notice now, veggie). Apologies for starting some before picturing
