  1. Does anyone know if I can use a gift card in the casino?? Or do I have to add it to my onboard account first?? And if I do that, can I then cash it out. Basically I want to turn my gift cards into cash??
  2. It was a good day yesterday!! Got 500 pts for the matching game AND 500 pts on spin the wheel!!! I think that's the 1st time I get more than 50. Plus my 50 for signing in, gives me 1050 for the day!!
  3. If you have an internet plan, do you still need to pay the $5??
  4. I know this is not the popular opinion, but I hate it when people on these boards repeatedly claim they get "preferential" treatment from bar staff because they drop $5 when ordering there first drink. I think it just arrogant on their part, and they're really only tooting their own horn!! Bar staff do not (and as a matter of fact are not allowed) to ignore guests in favor of others. It just doesn't happen, at least not regularly!! Staff would be in serious trouble if they were reported doing so, it's just not worth it to them. I find I get great service by smiling, being nice and interacting with the staff. And before we all go off the deep end on how cheap I am, I handed out over $300 in extra tips on the last day of my cruise last month. I never got the impression that they were unhappy with me for not leaving that $1 every drink. But you should have seen how appreciative they were when I searched them out on that last day and handed them that little envelope!!!
  5. That's pretty much opposite of what we saw when we were there. Saw a bunch of whale tails, but no breaches. But on the bear portion of our excursion we saw about 8 bears total, including a mama bear and 3 cubs that walked right past our viewing platform!! ABQrobin, ours was way back in 2011 out of Icy Strait Point.
  6. Haven't sailed yet on Carnival since the restart, so not sure the following applies but I suspect it will. Prices, especially drink prices are way up. Was on RCCL last month and cocktails were $10+. Frozen drinks were $14. I used to use $8/$10 drink prices to calculate whether or not the drink package was worth it for me. If you do something similar, just be aware of the increase, it won't take as many alcoholic drinks as you might think to hit the break even point. And as said above, don't minimize the benefit of "free" water, soda, coffee, juice, etc. once you've got the package.
  7. Who said anything about not appreciating good service?? I certainly do, and always tip. But always after I've received the good service. What you're suggesting is pompous and arrogant!! It's insulting to good waiters, waitresses, bartenders, etc. everywhere. Do you really expect me to believe that the Maitre'D held a table just for your use for the entire cruise??? Come on in anytime, your table will be waiting!!! LOL!!
  8. I'm confused, please clarify?? Tip him $20, $40, $100?? How much does it take for me to get a table without waiting?? How much does it cost to insure that I cut the line, because I really am more important than everyone else? How much should I tip him to make sure he does he and his team do their job properly??? Oh, maybe I misunderstood!! Maybe I need to tip him and he will entertain me with magic tricks while I wait in line. If so is this a private show, or does he just do his magic in front of everyone in line?? That hardly seems fair, after all I was the one who tipped him and I am entitled, no one else!! Please, go hang out on a tipping thread with all your buddies telling each other how great a human you are!
  9. I think it matters which lot. Parking at the Carnival Terminal is the ERATO STREET CRUISE TERMINAL 1100 Port of New Orleans Place, New Orleans, LA 70130 and you pay as you enter!!
  10. Haven't used them for Princess or Celebrity, so I can't help Carnival, cards can be used for pretty much everything. Really easy to use on-line for pre-cruise payments and purchases. RCCL, not as user friendly as Carnival, but can be used for cruise payments. (They might be used for other things, but the process is so cumbersome that I've only used them to actually pay down my balance.)
  11. Thank you very much JsMom2 Exactly the info I needed, you took me by the hand and walked me through it, really appreciate it!
  12. So which freestyle cup did you get?? The nicer "tumbler" type or the cheap looking, ice melting plastic one??
  13. Thank you, appreciate your comments!!
  14. Thank you very much smokeybandit and not-enough-cruising. That was more information than I got on a 30 minute phone call to ATT
  15. We will be travelling to Coco Cay, St Thomas, St Martin, Cozumel, Costa Maya and Roatan. Do any of you know if my iPhone will work everywhere, and how expensive will it be? I have an ATT Unlimited plan and tried talking to them, but I swear I trust most of you more than I do her!!! Normally don't worry about this stuff, but this time I've got excursions on St Thomas, St Martin, Costa Maya & Roatan where I'm required to call them or arrange for a returning taxi!! Thanks
  16. We cruise on Symphony on the 9th, and 150 CP is listed and I can make a reservation. Maybe you're still too far out??
  17. Yep, it's not you. While it may be true that many cruise lines have website issues, I just see RCCL's as just bad. Technical glitches, info hard to find and it's just not user friendly. I know the "defenders" will jump on me, but Carnival's website is way easier to navigate (gasp)!!!
  18. Heading there in a few weeks, anyone have up to date information?? Which is better? How to get there, and back? What time should I be there to insure a good chair? Any other thoughts or opinions?? TIA
  19. Kinda feel stupid for even asking, but who knows?? Do I need to print out my luggage tags for the 2nd leg of the B2B if we will be staying in the same cabin??
