  1. @PacnGoNowI knew "someone" would correct me. Disclaimer: I am not an expert on balconies.
  2. All balconies on the Grand Class ships are 9 feet wide. Depending on if it is a balcony or mini-suite...and deck, size will differ. Aft balconies are biggest. Balconies on one of the decks (Caribe? Dolphin?) uncovered is 9 x 9. Most mini-suite balconies are 9 x 6 (since the extra room is included in the interior space) Suites may have balconies that are 18 feet wide (two cabin widths/bedroom/living area).
  3. Looks like you started one. I have found Roll Calls to be pretty sparse. Not sure if it is because the ship usually sails with 50% from the Japanese Market, less from Australia, and even fewer from the United States.
  4. @arctickitty I've use https://www.hilorentalcars.com before. My go to local place stopped renting cars. But, before you decide, call and talk to Rick. They are just outside the gates of Hilo Cruise Terminal. Walking distance. No airport service fee. They do NOT rent new cars. I don't remember what I got, but it was definitely a "used" car. Price was right. Got me to where I wanted to go. Return was super easy. Might have helped that I was a Kama'aina (local ID).
  5. It only proves that what one passenger thinks is acceptable and another doesn't. In my passing opinion, if it affects others, then it is not for the best interest for one.
  6. Wishing our fearless adventurers a warm send off from San Diego this afternoon. Should be a beautiful sail out of San Diego Harbor.
  7. I would turn off cellular service on watch when on the ship. Wouldn't it be nice if Medallion App Ocean Navigators created an app for the iPhone Watch so you didn't have to carry around the medallion? That would be too obvious.
  8. Just received an updated invoice (Feb 12, 2023) for Japan cruise. Notice: No mention of K-ETA requirement. IMPORTANT NOTICES UPDATED COVID-19 PROTOCOLS FOR YOUR VOYAGE Please be advised that all guests 18 years of age or older must have completed a primary vaccination series for COVID-19 AND also received at least one booster before embarkation (total of 3 vaccination doses). Vaccination certificates must be written or translated into English or Japanese to be valid. Guests ages 12 to 17 must have received two vaccination doses. Children under 12 are not required to be vaccinated. In addition, guests ages 5 and older must produce at check-in a negative self-administered COVID-19 Rapid Antigen Test result photo with a time and date stamp taken within one day before embark or a negative PCR test result taken within two days before embark. Please note that testing and self-tests will not be available at the pier. Face masks will be required indoors on board for guests 5 years and older. Influenza vaccinations before travel are strongly recommended. All guests must also register and complete Visit Japan Web at https://vjw-lp.digital.go.jp/en in advance of entry to Japan.
  9. False alarm? Like when the governor of Hawaii couldn't reverse the Missile Attack warning because he forgot his password? Posters are already skittish about current changes and modification on Princess.
  10. I end up taking some of mini-bar items home. If only I could trade out the little bottles for bar service items....I would be a happy camper. I read somewhere that the mini-bar was "equal to" $75. Just give me the credit on my bar bill. I'd be happy to trade it in. Not worth an even exchange for 2 coffee cards nor 1 bottle of "their" wine. Disclaimer: I will sheepishly admit that I using have 2 mini-bars (elite/suite).
  11. @arctickitty My young grandson was trying very hard to convince me to part with one of my AirTags….for his water bottle. It doesn’t make it home at least once a month. Luckily, it’s always found on campus.
  12. You may be too late, but thank you for your thoughts. Friend is finally retiring. Last shipment was in January. Made in Hawaii (for men) Me-too (for women) Kala (for kids) He was one of the few remaining local makers of Hawaiian Wear. Most are from outside the states. Thanks for letting me share here. I apologize for the sidebar.
  13. Please return my Coral and the Grand to the west coast. Last of the best ships at sea…
  14. I am so sorry to hear about New Zealand. I would much prefer visiting there than Australia. Stay safe. I am guessing all of you are "just along for the ride". https://www.google.com/search?client=safari&rls=en&q=just+along+for+the+ride+youtube&ie=UTF-8&oe=UTF-8#fpstate=ive&vld=cid:762bbd36,vid:rer1GbyPivw
  15. To charge or not to charge shipping is strictly a function of the Beverage Packages. It has nothing to do with loyalty status. But while I am at this, I might as well throw in my thoughts. I have had, will have, not have had the beverage packages on several cruises. I purchase it for the convenience of having my mock cocktails or occasional wine with dinner. I am not an imbiber. Rarely ever meet my minimum to break even daily allotment. AND have my minibars to fall back on. As an elite member, I would be able to get a 50% discount on the internet package, if bought on it's own. Therefore (and herein lies the unlogic): There is no benefit for me, as an elite member, to purchase either or the beverage package AND the internet that is being "credited" at full value. I won't even go into inside verses suite crew incentive differences.
  16. Lots of places to get Aloha Shirts in Hawaii, but I don't think they are making it this far. Sam's Club, Costco, Walmart (locally made by my friend), Ross for Less. Then you have the Reyn's high end brand.
  17. Yes, purchased plus after booking. I couldn't understand why it was more expensive. It had to be insurance. More reason to purchase it with OBC once you get on. Hope Princess continues this option.
  18. The Diamond Princess leaves on Sunday for Japan. So far: 1. TransPacific voyagers have an option of 3 days PCR. 2. But those joining on March 15 "may" have only 24 hours/day 3. Link takes you to Australian Enhanced cruises. Could it be any clearer?
  19. I do miss the 10% off of everything in the store perk, but have found that discounts can be randomly selected by the sales person. On more than one occasion, a sales person would apply a discount. One even asked if I "minded".
  20. I opened a Goggle Voice account in the days I was being charged for texts. It allows to talk and text using WiFi coverage. No Face to Face. Biggest plus is that I feel safe to give out that phone number to everyone. I can screen calls for telemarketers.
  21. I have not tried this but “heard” is was available. You CAN use FaceTime with an Android/Windows platform. https://www.cnet.com/tech/services-and-software/ios-15-lets-iphone-and-android-users-facetime/
  22. Hope this helps. https://cruisewestcoast.com/cruise-tips-advice/what-do-you-call-the-guys-that-take-your-luggage-onto-the-ship.html
  23. Trying to finite the question. You have 4 beverage packages that includes one device per package. Each will have its own login page. You will have access to 4 individual devices. Do you need an additional access to 4 more devices? Is this for your family or for other cabins? From my understanding, the 4 package device purchase will have one sign in (cabin/birthday: I think). It is really easy to switch between devices, albeit it is a slight nuisance. You don't even have to log off before logging on. When you switch devices, it will ask you if you want to log off. Or you can go to logoff.com With that said....I bought the 4 device package for my sister and myself (2 each). Ha Ha
  24. Out of curiosity, why would your less than 2 year old need a medallion? They can't order drinks or open the cabin door by themselves (too heavy). They will be able to accompany you anywhere you go. If you are worried about them getting lost, get an airtag for them. A 3 year old is a little more verbal than a 2 year old and less likely to put it in their month. I know my grand-daughter understands it's not something to eat.
  25. San Pedro has one line entering the building. Then up the escalators where you will be "separated". Once processed, you will be showed to a room/area where refreshments will be served. (This is if you cruise out of Terminal 93 and not the Tent).
