  1. I understand that tipping is not part of the culture in Australia. Here in the U.S., we always tip (or is it protection money?)the longshoreman who do nothing more than put our bags on a cart. Advice for Sydney please. Thanks.
  2. Agree with previous post-no HBO or any premium channels. I download content from Netflix and amazon onto my IPad.
  3. Hello! Will you guys be doing your usual Hawaii program on the Golden transpacific? See you in Auckland. Cheers.
  4. We will be stopping there on a transpacific cruise. Is best bet to get local currency from ATM? Are ATMs readily available? To do usual tourist things- is it easy to use credit cards? thanks for your thoughts.
  5. Flying into Sydney from the US for Sydney to LA cruise. Is the best bet for local currency to hit the ATM? Are there lots of them around? Wondering how much cash needed (as opposed to using a credit card) to do the usual tourist things. Would appreciate your experience. Thanks.
  6. We go if it’s in Skywalkers, but not if it’s in fusion. It’s about having a drink in a great place for us.
  7. We have done 3 recent cruises(Star,Golden and Emerald ). All elite happy hours were in the Vista, not Skywalkers. The crew said they were moved to Vista because of to many people in Skywalkers. Well, that solved the problem. We didn’t see many in the Vista and we did not return. Without Skywalkers, it’s just expensive booze and free food. Oh wait, you can get that anywhere on the ship.
  8. Nothing on a coastal. Only sales activity posing as "enrichment". It really is an area where Princess needs improvement - although yes, they a good job in Alaska and a fair job on the Hawaii run.
  9. If it is closed, than I do my walking on the sun deck.
  10. We were on the same cruise and had a great cruise. I agree with the OP that the daytime entertainment activities are lacking if you don’t enjoy bingo, games, art auctions, jewelry “ enrichment” lectures etc.(Which I dont). Princess needs to step up their enrichment program and not treat it as a sales opportunity. Tiki Dave gives a good lecture series on the islands, but it is the same every year (even the same jokes). For the daytime, I “make my own fun” as mother would say on a rainy day, by downloading video to my iPad and lots of reading material. Evenings I spend listening to live music which was very good this cruise. I am no expert on food- just an eater, but we thought the food was good-typical princess fare. We were in the D400s canins and did not experience any unusual cabin noise. Over all, a good cruise. BTW I heard there were 2700 passengers onboard, meaning a significant number of vacant cabins for those of us interested in cruise industry economics.
  11. Bob- thanks for the report, enjoyed reading them. How was the tendering in Maui? We were on the Star Hawaii run right before yours and the time for the return tender was 90 minutes at 2:30. Hope yours was better. Cheers.
  12. No, we did not report the steward or remove auto-grats. We all say stupid things some times ( well, at least I did in my working days) and the stewards are under a great deal of pressure on turn-around day. Over-all, he did a good job for the next 15 days, and we were satisfied enough to give our usual supplement tip.
