  1. We are on the 9/3 Oasis sailing. The Bar Code trick worked so I think I know what my cabin is. My question is, when can I expect my documents to reflect this? As of now, Luggage Tags are blank. Will they be filled in on assignment or will I fill them in?
  2. Any info about outlets near the bed on Oasis. I am Suite GTY so likely a Jr. Suite. Many thanks
  3. Got it. I now understand and my points do appear to be correct. Many thanks all for such a great response. D
  4. I understand that but my 9/2008 cruise which was 9 nights in a GS is still showing 2 points. There doesn't appear to have been a conversion.
  5. Not sure I understand. Should they be re-calculating based on the new formula?
  6. I sent an e-mail to C&A. Before I found the old paperwork that said I was in a GS. At 1 for 1 points I'd be one shy of Diamond.
  7. We have only cruised on RCL a few times so Crown and Anchor points were not on my radar. We recently finished a cruise and I noticed that we are very close to Diamond so I looked back. Our first RCL cruise was in 2008. It was a 9 night Canadian cruise and we were in a GS. I assume that means we should have received 18 C&A points, which would move us to Diamond, however the website says we only got 2 points for that cruise. Is there a way to fix this? Many thanks.
  8. I recently had connected rooms next to mine filled with smokers. I told them not to smoke once and called GS 4 or 5 times. I smelled in on the balcony and our hall smelled like an ashtray. I was told that if actual evidence of smoking (butts etc.) is not found, there is not much that can be done other than a cleaning fine. I believe they were fined. At the end of the cruise I went to guest services and this was confirmed. GS was really apologetic and gave us a future cruise credit in the amount of 20% of the cost of our cruise. It came to about $1,400 for the 2 of us. Not perfect but something. Moral: If they smoke, report and report and report.
  9. On the app menu it says Opus One. Once on board I will research more deeply.
  10. Thanks. It looks like there are more than a few that will be in my wheelhouse. That's one of them.
  11. For reference, a single bottle of the 2019, current, vintage from the vineyard is $390. I am having trouble understanding how they sell it for so much less on board. I'm not trying to be difficult. Just trying to understand. Has anyone actually bought a bottle on board?
  12. That's true, but the least expensive you will find retail is in the $300 -$400 range which will usually be the current vintage. $300 in a restaurant is unheard of as far as I can tell.
  13. So here's the question for wine drinkers. If you were to go into a fine dining restaurant in NYC, or just about anywhere else, and you had the means and wanted to have a bottle of Opus One with your dinner, you would be out between $1,000 and $1,300 for just the wine. Not something I would ever do. RCL is selling Opus One for $378 which is about it's retail cost. If you have a dining package, take 20% off and it is about $300. Still more than I have ever spent on a bottle of wine but I would think about it if it's a real deal. What's wrong here?
  14. Thanks It came from my TA so that explains it. I assume it will show up once on board.
  15. In 2004 my Honeymoon cruise was an 11 nighter on the Norwegian Dawn from NYC to the Eastern Caribbean. I called it the Charlie Brown Cruise. It didn't rain everywhere but there was a rain cloud that followed us to each and every port and on the way home we had 30' seas. So much fun.
  16. Considering a Silversea Alaska cruise. Do sister company Loyalty Program points transfer to Crown and Anchor? For clarity, would my Crown and Anchor status transfer to Silversea Venetian Society for any added benefit and would the Venetian Society points be counted for my Crown and Anchor account for added points?
  17. To be clearer, a casual gambler, who itemizes deductions, can deduct gambling losses up to the total amount of gambling winnings on Schedule A of the Federal Return. If audited you will have to provide proof of losses. On the other hand, until the 2018 tax law changes, a professional gambler (someone in the trade or business of gambling) could deduct losses along with the expenses of gambling, transportation, entertainment, food, lodging, legal and professional fees, etc. under Schedule C (business expenses). The 2018 law limited the professional gambler deduction eliminating non wagering expenses. So, the professional gambler no longer gets the bigger Schedule C deduction.
  18. To be clear, all US Gambling winnings are subject to Income Tax however you don't get a W-2G unless the single jackpot (like on a slot machine) is $1,200 or more. If you win on table games you should not get a W-2G when you cash in because they don't know how much you bought in for. At least that's how it works in land based casinos. Also, you can deduct your losses up to the amount of your winnings so it's generally a wash if you declare losses. Most people (not me of course) only declare winnings up to the amount that the get W-2Gs for and then declare losses in the exact same amount.
  19. Thank you. My issue is the same as yours.
  20. I supplement my daily protein intake with pre-made protein shakes (think Ensure, Slim Fast etc.). Will I be allowed to bring a supply on board the Anthem early next year? If not, how about protein powder to make my own? Thanks
  21. FWIW, it looks like Fiona may be headed your way. We were on Explorer this time in 2008 on Canada cruise from NYC. We skipped Sydney and spent an extra night in Quebec City because of Hurricane Kyle. Good luck.
