  1. Seen the videos, we know whose responsible for this decision.
  2. Just got off the phone with NCL there is nothing they can do for my upcoming Jan. cruise because I already made final payment, they told me my next booking will have 10% off after I verify my military service.
  3. I remember taking a towel animal folding class on a HAL cruise once, I still know how to make a swan.
  4. My favorite cruise souvenir that I always get is Mal de Debarquement, it comes free with cruise fare.
  5. I had no idea your difference was that much 😬 I found it well worthwhile to pay an extra $800 $900 to get the exact seat, airline, departure date/time, direct flight I wanted, when I had to fly per and or post cruise.
  6. You wouldn't let your airline book your cruise, why let your cruise book your flights? I hear countless horror stories of cruise line arranged flights, I personally think its not worth the "deal" you get, arrange flights as a secondary step and not all in one. JMHO
  7. When on board I make an effort to leave my cell phone in safe from embarkation day to disembarkation day (I have done this on a 17 day cruise, and it was awesome) On board the only thing I carry is whatever book I'm currently reading, ship card, and cash in port the only things I pretty much carry is whatever book I'm currently reading, ship card, passport card, cash and maybe a towel. After all as far as I'm concerned that is the whole point of a cruise.
  8. In the unlikely event of a catastrophe women and children evacuate first, as a white straight male I find this very unprivileged.
  9. I remember back in the day when someone would set up a meet and greet, slot pull, pub crawl, and cabin crawl (always good times) haven't seen that so much on my past few cruises.
  10. I should be able to smoke a cigar on my balcony.
  11. Cleaning through a family attic I came across this beautiful antique brass working sextant (It was Grandpas) I have since ordered books on how to use a sextant, and been watching a few videos, I have a 12 day solo cruise on Jan 20th abroad the NCL Getaway by the end of the cruise I hope to teach myself some basic Celestial Navigation. Of all my cruise experience on several lines I'm certain NCL would be the one that would have an officer on the bridge, or nearby me notice what I'm trying to do and engage me. Any thoughts or comments are greatly appreciated.
  12. Thank you every one great responses and links, the other day a bunch of charts and a few how to books arrived, I'm looking forward to trying to learn something new. Ever since early childhood my farther told me on every vacation he took me on I had to learn something new in relation to the theme of the vacation, I learned simple French on a trip to Paris, etc., etc., etc., Sextant on a cruise is what I'm down to after about 14 or so cruises.
  13. Not to hijack thread but quick question, I'm going to forgo the travel insurance because my upcoming cruise if leaving N.Y. and I'm from N.Y. I feel that travel insurance is more for people that have to fly to and from embark and disembark locations. I'm vaccinated, but if I tested + on embark day and could not board, and had no travel insurance what would my situation be, and is there a exact plan I can buy to cover such a thing? TYIA
  14. Yes, keeping your balcony door open in you state room will be frowned upon by many of your immediate neighbors, as by commercial design HVAC air handlers control many rooms in sections. For argument sake lets say you have 60 rooms, they would be controlled by 6 air handlers 1 room leaving their balcony door open will affect that that air handler greatly, thus affecting the other 9 rooms in sync with said air handler. I love the sound of waves slapping against the hull as well there is an app for that which after moments of listening to, you would not notice the difference of real sound or played back audio. Cheers.
