  1. In NYC it is very common to see 8+ year old take the subway by themselves transfer lines even, then walk several blocks to school in the morning, then do the same thing in the afternoon by themselves. It seems common place that parents on cruises often allow their children of a wide range of ages to roam free all about the ship for a lengthen of time unsupervised. I never look twice at it.
  2. So many better conversations to be had, in fact this will be considered rude to many people from other countries. In the states for example asking what you do for a living is a common icebreaker, however on a side note to many people from European nations this is a very rude invasive question. You best believe that will also hold true when it comes to politics with many other people. Stick to "small talk" at least to you can properly gauge the other person quite well.
  3. Anything you get aboard don't hide it in your room, that's rookie. Hide it really good in a common area (that is if they even search while the ship at port on Bermuda or Bahamas which I have never seen.)
  4. Some of that $16 per person/per day goes to crew members that you will never see or interact with that work very hard for your vacation, and no one goes around and tips them after removing their daily service charge (or whatever you wanna call it.) Prepay it then it wont show up on your final bill, and count it as part of the fare.
  5. Sorry for your loss, I'm sure your dad will be there in spirit.
  6. Thanks for your review, I am looking into MSC cruises, but next one with NCL is my first one as platinum, so I feel I must go with NCL. How would you compare the two?
  7. Mal de débarquement syndrome, it's a free souvenir.
  8. They should have a vote down option, that would be fun.
  9. Don't forget to leave it in a slot machine. I do, all the time and to be honest it's the only time I ever have gone to guest services, granted it's 3 or 4 times a cruise, but never the less the only reason ever.
  10. Did everyone forget the terror attack on the MS Achille Lauro in 1985? Men from the PLO hijacked the ship for 2 days they threw a Jewish man who was wheelchair bound overboard. It's not like there's still a conflict between Israel and Palestine today. (Oh wait) It has happened before because of those 2 Waring states. No need to laugh at someones concern.
  11. I just always got a regular balcony room, and paid the double occupancy, these are the same deal, no?
  12. How does someone with over 2 thousand post not know the answer? You must of been on several cruises at least, have been on these boards for 13 years.
  13. OP can you post a screenshot of an "Internet speed test?"
  14. I think secretly I wanted to cancel this trip simply because it's north of 10k. (I was over served when I booked on board,) I'm recently retired and it's my 50th birthday I'll probably wind up in Atlantic City for a few days. In retrospect it's a nice deposit in my account.
  15. Yes my post was removed by admins due to wordage, I reposted to gain some advice.
  16. I am heartbroken, last January I was solo in a balcony suite for my 49th birthday while on that cruise I booked a solo, forward facing penthouse w/balcony in the haven for my 50th birthday. Since then I have started dating a woman 34 w/ a 8y/o, I recently expressed to her that I can pay a bit more to bring her and Lucas on this sailing since I have already paid double occupancy it would not be a problem. Her response was "I can't take the time off work and Lucas has school." Now this was going to be my first time in the haven and my first platinum cruise (I was really really looking forward to this.) I cancelled it just now. I'm getting all $11,842.77 back because Sept. 19th is the 120 day cut off date, and this is prior. Am I an bad guy for thinking I'm gonna break up with them and enjoy my 10 day Bermuda/Caribbean birthday cruise. Once again this will be my first platinum and haven cruise. We have been dating for 4&1/2 months. I do not know what to do, she will never see this post as she is not on this social media. I have already canceled this cruise, but can most likely rebook at any time. Rant off*
  17. You could always take a photo that meets the requirements, and upload it.
  18. Its drunk people, nearly every time. People who drink all day long and simply cant handle it.
  19. A tote bag?!? I'd be livid, I'd expect something a bit more than what I can buy at the gift shop for $20..
  20. Having spent several years in the United States Marine Corps, and being aboard many U.S. Naval Ships, I'd prefer the company and conversation of more senior officers. However I do understand that officers at any level can be just as entertaining 😏
  21. I have met Hugo, I believe it was aboard the Gem
  22. That sounds awesome, I had a whiskey and cigar with a Staff Caption on a HAL cruise cigar lounge, it was great he put with me and answered every question I had for over 15 minutes, bid me a toast then was on his way,
  23. Has the BTS tour ever included a trip to the bridge?
  24. Does anyone know what it is? I have never seen a post or comment about it I can only imagine it's something way cheesy or way cool. My next NCL cruise is my first as Platinum, which I feel is the best upgrade as far as perks go on NCL, I hear tell that the dinner with officers at the Sapphire level is dinner with like the food and beverage manger, you know not like the Captain or ships Navigation Officer. I have achieved some status perks on other lines, but for the most part they are mediocre at best. The best perk I ever received was a shellback card from crossing the Equator aboard the USS Reagan (CVN-76 Nimitz class nuclear powered supercarrier.) believe me that was earned, not given away.
