Will be docked in Bermuda for two nights in a few weeks. We have a forward cabin on the Gem with a huge balcony. I was hoping to do some night time lapse of the stars with my GoPro. I've done them from home and they turn out very nice. If the stars are bright I do a 20 second exposure. Has anyone tried this before? I wondering if the moment from the ship will be too much?

I do plan to do a review, not sure if it will be live or not. One thing I will absolutely be doing is a cabin tour of our cabin on deck 10. I'm looking forward to the large deck. My wife is worried about her hair blowing around Lol. I also plan to do a bunch of time lapse videos. Another video I will be doing is on the Thermal Spa, in fact I just booked my pass. $199... ugh... but we got rid of our hot tub a year ago and I miss not having one. Our friends who we are sailing with bought the pass also. I don't plan to spend much time in there is the weather is nice but it will be nice to have and will be a very short walk from our cabin

Yes, we are in a forward suite. Our last cruise on the GA in the Haven I remember they had someone right their as we walked onto the ship from our muster station to scan our cards. I don't miss not going to the muster drill. It was always a cluster trying to get out of the area once it wrapped up. It was also burn me up with about 25% of the people not being able to shut up for 10 minutes while it's going on and causing delays

Just did our online check in for our cruise in three weeks. I think this is the first time our photos uploaded without a hitch. Last cruise I must have spent a half hour trying to get them to work (same photos as the cruise before). Finally worked, we arrived at the pier to check in and get our cabin cards. The woman said we need to take your photos again. I wanted to say no you are not I spent a half hour doing and you are using them Lol I watched the safety video, I wonder how many emails we will get to watch it again, and again lol

Quick story of my teens. A family friend, a wealthy family friend owned a wholesale auto dealership. I worked for him for 5 summers 82-87 in HS and college. We went around to car auctions buy cars, detailing them and moving them out. Dave the owner had a stable of vintage race cars. On the weekends he would race at tracks like Watkins Glen, Lime Rock, Mid Ohio. Not only did I get to drive at these tracks he paid for some race classes. It was a freaking blast. One of the perks of the job was I got a car to use 7 days a week. I drove everything from pickups to Triumphs and everything in-between. At that time he had about a dozen cars in his collection. My favorite was his 1969 Lamborghini Miura with a V12 side winder engine its still the most beautiful car I have ever seen. I always joked to him about how he was going to leave me that car when he passed. I never did get the car but in those four years I learned a huge amount about cars and have had a blast. I was also the envy of every single one of my guy friends. I made a point of getting a photo of myself next to every cool car I drove. I one point I had over 100 pictures. Unfortunately those pictures were lost in a fire in college. I saw a 69 Miura go up for sale last year, it sold for 1.4M Now back to the cruise......

I love the Jewel class ships. However if you are staying in the Haven I would be on the Escape

Interesting, thanks for the info

Off the topic question.... How is the ship powered when they are in dry dock? I'm assuming all of ships internal engines are water cooled from the sea

Port Overcrowding and Corporate Responsibility
Laszlo replied to Mr. Grizb's topic in Norwegian Cruise Line
We ran into the same issue in St Lucia on the Getaway. We were there with the Epic and a Carnival ship. All of us docked about the same time. We made the mistake of signing up for a beach excursion. The beach was 5 miles away. It took us over 90 minutes to get to the beach with traffic, this after the busses were already 45 minutes wait due to traffic. So our excursion which was supposed to give us 4 hours on the beach turned into less than two hours. While back on the ship so many people complained about it we all got a full refund -
How often do you think this happens cruising to Alaska?
Laszlo replied to cruiseagona's topic in Norwegian Cruise Line
Thats strange, the Sun is older but still a nice ship. Alaska cruises seem to book 100% months out -
Busy is good, I have a bad fault of getting things together too early. I already have our snorkeling gear / beach stuff packed. I will most likely end up going back in a few weeks to check on it, did I pack this or that Lol. My son just got engaged over the weekend and we were down in Alexandria for that this weekend
