I see you are going to Costa Maya. If you have never been there do yourself a favor and book a day at Maya Chan beach (private resort). My wife and I loved it there (twice)

Unfortunately we will probably never know the truth but the change could have been completely out of control of NCL

Once.... in January 2023 on the Getaway out of NYC they had a separate security line for Haven guest. It was really nice, my wife and I were the only ones to going thru it, while their were hundreds of other people using the other 3-4 lines. In Boston everyone used one of two security line. It was fine, however I have never had to take out dam near half the contents of my backpack. They needed to see my laptop and camera gear in those little gray boxes you put your stuff in. I said to one of the guys working isn't this what going thru the x ray machine is for? Needless to say he wasn't amused Lol

Our last two cruises, one a month ago and they one prior to that in 2023 we were in the Haven and a Suite. We got luggage tags a month before each cruise. Sailing with friends in a regular balcony then did not get tags. Its easy enough to print them out, even if NCL sends us tags I still print my own and use these holders https://amzn.to/3AaG3RI

Nice review, strange the concierge wasn't set up Moderno. During our June 28th - July 5th cruise we saw him every morning set up and then again at Cagney's at lunch

Many people have no clue some of the kitchens serve the exact same food at 2-3 restaurants

Our very first cruise was in an Aft Suite on the Gem. Everyday, not matter if we were at sea or dock in Bermuda we had some amount of soot on the balcony. The first time it happened my wife had white pants on, didn't notice the soot on the chair and ended up with black spots all over them. The room steward apologized and had her pants cleaned by the end of the day. Every morning the room steward was washing down the balcony deck, not just ours but all of them. I don't think its as much of an issue as it use to be

It happened on our cruise on the Getaway and happened on our cruise a few weeks ago on the Gem. Not only our cabin steward but our butler. Our cabin steward had 8 suites to take care of (twice a day) along with 12 other regular cabins. She was pleasant and did an excellent job, however she was overworked and admitted as much. She was saying they are short staffed, sometimes she needs to do 4 extra cabins. Their pay has not increase while at the same time adding more cabins to their schedule. Our butler was the same, he had 8 suites to take care of in the forward section of the ship along with 8 suites in the aft of the ship and a few Haven cabins. I don't know how many butlers the Gem used to have but he said he is now doing the work of two butlers. They were short staffed all over the ship, from servers to bar tenders. A lot of times at peak hours a number of the bars only had one bar tender. They were moving fast but it was still a 10-15 wait to get a drink

Just an FYI for anyone using a Gopro 10,11,12 and looking for power options other than the internal battery or a battery pack. I bought this power plug which is 2.4 amps and 5 volts. It works great, just did a 48 hour time lapse test and had no issues. The internal battery was removed, so no heat issues at all. You will need to install the GoPro Labs firmware which is really easy to do. You can do your settings in the web browser or the App. In a nutshell GP Labs enables you to make and set many options that are not possible with the standard firmware. I use it to force the camera to use power from the USB connector. Once you make a setting the QR code will change, turn the camera on and aim it at the code and the camera will do those settings. I also have mine set to have my name, phone number and email address show on the screen for 5 seconds when it starts up. Their are hundreds setting that can be done, want to have it start recording at a certain time, certain speed.... its all pretty easy to do

Their is no way in hell would I allow anyone to stick a needle in me that was not a trained professional like a medic, nurse or doctor. They were pushing that on the Gem, makes me laugh and cringe at the same time

Ditto, some mornings we had a nice sit down breakfast and got something from the bar and the menu other days I just walked in a got a few different things from the bar and headed back to our balcony. Our butler was in there one morning and noticed me taking food out, he laughed and said you realize you could have that delivered. I laughed and said I didn't know what I wanted to eat until about 10 minutes ago

A couple more short videos I dug up on my phone from the cruise Moderno for breakfast every morning, small but nice buffet set up. And yes, the large handle on the sea door to the balcony makes a great spot to hang swim trunks to dry out It was a rough sea day (July 3rd) coming back on the way to Portland, sky's were clear but we had 12-16ft seas for about 8 hours.
