  1. Hi, We will be going to Little French Key for the first time in 2 weeks. I was told by the owner that we did not need to pay ahead or leave a deposit, that we could select our package when we arrive. If anyone has been recently (or at all) can you answer a couple questions? Our ship docks in Mahogany Bay. From what I understand.... We walk to and exit the port gates, walk down a hill, and find the drivers to Little French Key. Are the drivers wearing Little French Key shirts or Frenchy's 44 shirts? (I saw a recent TripAdvisor review that said drivers wore LittleFrenchKey shirts and were in a van, but owner told me Frenchy's 44 and sounded more like they are a taxi. If we want to see the sloths, how far is it from the dock that takes you to Little French Key and should we do this on the way there or on the way back? Also, how was your day at Little French Key and how long did you stay? We must be back on board by 6:00pm, what time should we leave Little French Key? Thank you!
  2. My husband seems to be leaning toward cancelling the catamaran tour and booking our day at Paradise Beach Club. That way we have the pool, loungers, food and drink, and if the ocean is nice we can take a swim there too. I just hope it doesn't rain.
  3. Hi, We have never been to Paradise Beach Club (or any beach club in Cozumel) We will be in Cozumel the end of February on a cruise. We have booked the ships Catamaran tour but now are thinking of just heading to a beach club, since the catamaran gets us back to port about 1:00, allowing only have a few hours to go to a beach after it. Is the water at Paradise nice and calm or dirty and full of seaweed? We are not looking for a party scene and just want to relax, swim and have some drinks and good food. Would you recommend Nachi Cocom or Mr Sanchos over Paradise Beach Club or just stick with the ships Catamaran Sail? Would you book reservation or take a chance and see if PAYG is available that day?
  4. So sorry this happened and wishing your husband a quick recovery. You might want to call an expert for "tips" as any information could make or break your claim. You can call Steve Dasseos at tripinsurancestore dot com. He has helped so many people even when the insurance was not purchased through his company. He also has a wealth of information on his website and blog. We have used him for years and never needed to file a claim, but know we are in good hands if we ever do. Wishing you the best
  5. You are correct. Internet $100 for 1 device (no discount) = $14 day Crew = $16 day Coffee package = $5 day (approximately) 2 drinks a day = $25 day (approximately) ____________________________________ This totals $60 a day which is the same price as Princess plus add on. I think we will drink more on this Western Caribbean cruise than we did on Alaska and European cruises. I'll add on the package. Thanks!
  6. Hi, We have had the Beverage packages on many cruises and find that we hardly use them. This time we went Standard and plan to purchase our drinks. How much are drinks such as a Margarita or Daiquiri? On past cruises I've seen "Drink of the Day" for a discounted price that was listed in the daily print outs, but can't remember which cruise lines we were on that offered it. Does Princess offer a Drink of the Day at a discounted price? Thanks!
  7. I booked LFK for our cruise next month end of February. Larissa (owner) gave me new website and we can just walk out the port gate down the hill to meet drivers and select our package and pay once we are there. Below is email from Larissa and the new website address. Hello Linda, Thank you for contacting Little French Key Resort. I am glad you found us. Sadly the previous administration won't release the social media or the business webpage back to us. You are at the right please here with me. Our new webpage is : littlefrenchkeyresort.com for all the info and packages. I would book you and you won;t make any payments till you get to our location and choose your package. We pick you up whenever you disembark from the ship and take you back whenever you wish to. No specific times set up. We want our guests to feel free and happy to leave or get off the ship at any time. You sure can order food a la carte, however our full island package at $98 pp is our best seller and has everything included. Let me know when you are coming, how many guests you are and I will email you our pickup instructions. Thank you LFK-Resort
  8. Thank you for blogging about your cruise! This will be our first time on the Sky Princess sailing 02/24/23 and our first time to the Western Caribbean! We also booked an interior cabin and have put in a bid for balcony, but our sailing looks pretty full. I can't wait to hear about your cruise and the ports! Happy sailing!
  9. Thank you! Good advice. I'll let you know if we win! 🙂
  10. I see many on the Bidding post saying that their offer was accepted with the minimum bid. I realize that depends on how full the ship is and how many open cabins they need to fill. All my offers say Pending, but I'm wondering if modifying our bid by increasing it improves our chances of winning, or puts me back at the bottom of a list because it's a new bid? Not sure if they consider the highest $$ offers first, or if it goes by the date you requested the upgrade? Also, my bids are pretty close to the opening bid amount, do you think I should bump them up to the "fair" amount or higher?
  11. Thanks! I just bid on an obstructed balcony too! It looks like our ship is getting pretty full. Interior and Oceanview are sold out and most balconies on each deck are on a Guarantee. I only saw 2 standard balconies offered where you could choose your stateroom. Hopefully we win one of our bids! I bumped up the offer on one of them.
  12. Hi, We are sailing on Sky Princess next month for the first time. I already have a bid in on a Standard Balcony, but also see that Obstructed Balcony is available to bid on. I submitted my bid on the Standard Balcony the a few days ago and haven't heard anything...it just says "pending" if I view my bid. Just wondering if I should also bid on an Obstructed Balcony to increase my odds of getting a better room than interior, but have never had an obstructed balcony before. Is it really an ugly site looking out your balcony door at a life boat? Or are the boats aligned with your balcony view where you would only see the top or bottom of a life boat? Thanks so much!
  13. Hi, Yes, I contacted the owner and she emailed me back right away. Her name is Larissa and seems very nice. We have never been to Roatan but from what I understand...you exit the cruise terminal then walk down past the guard gates down the hill to where the drivers are waiting. LFK drivers will have Frenchy's 44 shirts on. Would your dad be okay going that distance on the shooter? You can search youtube, some people have posted videos walking out of the port down to the drivers and also of LFK. Here is Larissa's email: Hello Linda, Thank you for contacting Little French Key Resort. I am glad you found us. 14. We sailed on a Los Angeles to Los Angeles cruise in 2021 on Carnival to Mexico with our grandsons who were 9 and 11 years old. We went to our county court house to get Certified Copies of original birth certificates, but to be honest no one really looked to see if they were certified originals, and I'm not even sure they needed to be originals. We just wanted to make sure they were not denied. We were just in a situation where I booked a cruise for next month assuming we could use our birth certificates (as our passports would expire within the 6 months they needed to be valid after our return date). The information online and on Princess website is very confusing. We ended up Expediting and receiving our renewed passports the other day. You did not say which ports you are sailing, even though it is Closed Loop (starting and ending in same U.S port) I would check on that information on the Princess website. Edit: I wanted to add that we were on a "Closed Loop" itinerary last year but needed passports because one of the ports required it. (Vancouver) I used the drop down menu in My Account / Home / then clicked on green Manage This Booking / and you can either click on Itinerary at top, or in middle section where it shows our Booking Details click on the small Important Notices link. If you click on Itinerary, the Document Requirements section is below the itinerary if you scroll down. Now this information I included is for OUR cruise. You will need to see what YOUR cruise requirements are for adults and children. I also saw somewhere else, I think either on the app or website that mentions closed loop cruises and being able to use a Birth Certificate. But I was looking for adults, not sure if this included children. We brought a school ID for them but no one looked at it, but this was on Carnival. Anyway, I'm wishing you luck and hope it all works out for you!!
  15. No, you do not both have to have the app. Only I have the app on my phone. With our booking number I am able to fill everything out on the app for his documents too and also order our medallions for both of us, make dining reservations for both of us etc.
  16. I just ordered mine a week or so ago and there was no charge for the standard no frills medallion and lanyard.
  17. I just saw that this is an old post...but for information purposes I will comment with our story. The day after Christmas I booked a Caribbean cruise for next month not realizing that we needed passports that are valid 6 months after our return date! Ours would be have been expired by then. We renewed our passports by mail on Dec 30th with Expedited Processing and return mail service. They showed as "Received" on 01/04/23 and my husband and I received them back in hand by 01/21/23! You can check the status on https://passportstatus.state.gov/ where they also list this phone number 1-877-487-2778 for travelers who are traveling within 2 weeks and have not received their passports. Our passports have a new look to them and a new Passport Number! If you have Global Entry....you need to update your new passport number here. https://ttp.dhs.gov/
  18. We are booked for next month visiting Cozumel and doing a Catamaran snorkel on Princess but it does not include beach package. Can you recommend a safe sandy calm water beach that is a short taxi ride from the port? I was thinking Paradise Beach but have never been there (or to any of the beaches) Thanks!
  19. We have cruised the Caribbean around 20 times over the years on Princess, Holland, Norwegian, Celebrity and Oceania. The Caribbean has always been more casual than the Med cruises we've taken. (It's warm, many guests get sunburned which can also make dressier clothes more uncomfortable in my opinion) My husband usually wears casual pants and a button up shirt (short sleeve for Caribbean) to MDR every night and on "formal" nights he wears a long sleeve shirt and black casual pants. (He no longer brings a jacket or tie). There are those who still like to dress in formal attire, and age doesn't seem to determine that. Our Princess Alaska cruise in 2022 was the first since Covid, and almost everyone was in jeans every night. There were some people who were dressed up in tux and gowns on "Formal" night and also getting their photos taken. Wear what you feel comfortable in. Don't let what others wear keep you from wearing what you would like to wear. This is Princess and I'm sure there will be some in a tux. How many is impossible to determine. If you don't bring your tux, will you regret it if you see others in a tux and wish you had yours? Would a suit jacket and tie be more of a happy medium for you if some are in tuxes and others in casual pants and short sleeve shirts? I know it's hard. I used to stress about what to wear, but no longer worry about it so much. You'll see a little of everything. Enjoy your first Caribbean cruise!

    Booking LFK

Hi, Glad to hear you had a good experience there. Did you by chance dock in Mahogany? If so, is it a very long walk to the gates, then down to where drivers are waiting? Did you also do the Sloths add on? I'm just hoping it's sunny and warm and not raining that day in port. Thanks!
  21. Thanks, you have some great information on your website. We cruised for 20 years with another couple, but sadly we have gone different directions in life and they no longer travel. I'm sure your friends will love this cruise! See you onboard!
  22. Thank you everyone! We are getting excited. The ship sounds perfect and I am really looking forward to some warm sunshine!

  24. You are correct. I originally had some nights booked in Cielo, but changed them to Soleil and Estrella. I just checked to see if I could book Cielo by Editing one of my nightly reservations...and Cielo is no longer an option. I have read that it is harder to get to and can be hard to find (which is why I switched dining rooms). Maybe they are doing some improvements, or maybe they just don't get enough people dining there to keep it open?
