  3. Hi, We will be sailing on the Sky Princess next month. We have taken around 20 cruises between 1989 - 2016, but we paused cruising for many years while we started seeing Europe on land vacations. The only Princess ships we have sailed on were Tahitian Princess, Grand Princess and Crown Princess. Boy, things have changed! I don't even know what is "included" in a cruise anymore. This time we booked "standard" cruise fare without any perks, upgrades or beverage package, so I'm not sure what food is free besides the MDR and Buffet. I've seen "Chocolate Journeys" mentioned on this board. Is this just the name of some chocolate desserts they serve, or a specialty item available somewhere? What is the difference between Alfredos Pizzeria and Slice? Alfredos looks like sit down, do you need reservations and are they both "included" at no charge? What is the difference between World Fresh Marketplace and International Buffet? Are they both "included" at no charge? What is the Pastry Shop? Is a station with desserts at the buffet and is it "included" at no charge? Is Salty Dog Grill "included"? In one place I read it was included and another place saw a menu with prices. Is the Retreat pool and regular loungers (non cabana) "included" at no charge? This ship looks beautiful and I'm sure we will enjoy it. I just don't want to enter a pool area that is no open to us and would like to know where to pop in for a snack or grab something to eat. Also considering adding the New Grounds Coffee Package. Thanks so much!

I think you have to choose your Arrival Time on the Medallion App. I filled most of my info out on the website but there are certain things you must do on the App and I believe getting your Green Lane Ocean Ready status and Arrival time is one of them, as well as making your nightly dining reservations. If the Medallion app is complicated for you, is there a family member who could help you out with it? I did this for friends of ours who were cruising and not familiar with the new technology. But if all else fails, I would just show up with your required travel documents, printed cruise docs and luggage tags. I'm sure they will help you at the check in kiosk with our without an arrival time.

  6. I'm still a little confused... The mention of "as well as complimentary brewed coffee and hot chocolate." I think I read a post here that said you can only get one complementary brewed coffee or hot chocolate at a time? Isn't brewed coffee and hot chocolate complementary to everyone? Or is it because it comes from a different location and is it better than the buffet or room service brewed coffee and hot chocolate? Also, will they deliver the Specialty Coffee's in the New Grounds Package to our room if we order on the app and that's where we are when they deliver it? Thanks!
  7. If we buy a New Grounds Coffee Package....Can we order a specialty coffee on the app while we are in our room (not using room service, but using the app) and will they deliver it there? If the Coffee Package is good for only 15 Coffee Beverages (unlike the unlimited Beverage/Drink Package), would it be okay if he ordered 2 coffees at a time (one would be for me) on our 7 night cruise? I hate to get 2 Coffee packages because half of it would be unused for each of us, as we only drink 1 coffee a day.
  8. If going to Little French Key, make sure you book on the correct website. We will be visiting Little French Key next month and I booked directly with owner Larissa, https://littlefrenchkeyresort.com/contact/ You can contact them with any questions. From what I understand, you need to exit the port (you can take taxi for couple dollars to the gates) but you need to walk down the hill to where the drivers for Little French Key are waiting (wearing Frenchys 44 shirts). Not sure how difficult this would be for an 82year old. This will be our first time in this port. As someone else said...there is a beach very near the cruise ship if you dock in Mahogany Bay. This sounds like an easier option?
  9. We booked Standard this time as we really did not make use of our drink package last time. I went on the App to Medallion Net to purchase a stand alone internet package, and it shows a screen that says Select Number of Devices and "Buy Plan", but I cannot do either. Nothing happens when I tap the Buy Plan. Has anyone else had this happen?
  10. I'm confused. We just renewed our passports (have not received new passports yet) We also have Global Entry. What is it that we need to do to document wise with Global Entry to continue receiving TSA Precheck?
  11. Did you renew with standard service or expedited? Does your status say "Processing" or "In Process"? Ours says In Process and that they are reviewing our documents.

I was nervous reading some of the things going on with the website and FB page...until I emailed the owner Larissa.   16. Hi, We mailed our passports Dec 30, they received them Jan 2, show "processing" online Jan 5, and says Expedited Service takes 3-5 weeks. Please update when you receive them. We are traveling February 24th and I'm crossing my fingers we get them in time. I saw a number to call if we don't receive them 2 weeks before traveling. Not sure what they can do at that point, but hopefully something.
  17. Honduras: For anyone interested in visiting Little French Key from port of Roatan. I emailed Larissa (the owner) and she offered to book directly with her, pick us up and bring us back to ship when we wanted. They also have a Sloth add on for $15. You sure can order food a la carte, however our full island package at $98 pp is our best seller and has everything included.   18. Update: Turns out that the CFAR would not help in our case if we needed to cancel due to our passports not arriving in time. The reason being is that we use FCC to pay for our cruise, and the insurance company considers the initial deposit date, the date in which you first left a deposit on the trip in which you received FCC. So this is another reason why I only use Steve Dasseos at TripInsuranceStore when buying insurance. If you don't know all the fine print and exclusions you will be out of luck. Leave it to an expert. He also has a lot of examples of insurance stories and information on his website and blog.
  19. I'm not sure exactly how it works. I think I will pass on this Verizon plan. As others said...I would burn through the data very quickly posting photos etc.
  20. LOL, who knows? It sounds awfully cheap, so I'm wondering what the catch is... It says for talk/text you can pay as you go at $2.99 a minute or .50 text sen and .05 for texts received. But it says for data on cruise ships to get the International Plan for Cruiseships and Airplanes $20.00 for 50MG. Hopefully someone here will have used it and be able to inform us about it.

Verizon international plans on a cruise ship Verizon offers a new $20 International Monthly Plan for travelers interested in using data on select cruise ships and airplanes. Should service be available aboard, customers will receive a SMS offer for a 50 MB allowance. After that, you’ll just need to respond “yes” to get started. Please note that this a non-recurring plan. Talking and text messaging are available on more than 400 ships from well over a dozen different cruise lines. Check whether texting and calling service is available on your cruise ship and whether your device will work.
  22. I'm not good at figuring out how much MB, or GB equals. I would only use it to connect and send off an email or maybe post pics on FB. Not sure how much that would use?
  23. Hi, We will be on the Sky Princess next month visiting Cozumel/Honduras/Belize/CostaMaya. I notice Verizon now has a CruiseShip/Airplane plan that I've never seen before. It's $20 for a month for 50MB. Has anyone used this aboard a cruise ship? It seems a lot cheaper than a cruise internet package. Just wondering how it works and that I won't incur additional charges connecting to the ships tower. Thanks!
