Any reason to bring Covid Vaccine Record onboard?
mightycruisequeen replied to FlaMariner's topic in Holland America Line
It's still accepted as proof? Where? By whom? -
The reason I ask is because there is still a link to health protocols, and it still shows a very lengthy list of cruises that have already sailed: https://book2.hollandamerica.com/protocols/?voyage=all but when I try to get info for our booked cruises, it says: Health Protocols Unpublished This specific booking and/or voyage does not yet have published protocols for COVID-19 vaccination and testing requirements. Please check closer to the embarkation date for updates. I'd really be much happier to see a message that the Health Protocols have been discontinued, but that isn't what it's saying. I'd like to know what to expect before paying off the balance on our sailings.

I totally agree that security should be the ones to deal with smoking scofflaws, not the cabin stewards. Also, yes, put the onus on the individuals who are disregarding the rules, not the person who reports them! We rarely even book balconies, since we don't care to have the aggravation of just what you described.

That's a difficult question to answer. Smoking is officially prohibited on all Holland America balconies, but it's been our experience that not everyone thinks this applies to them. Each and every balcony we've had on HAL, we've smelled smoke coming from other balconies. It definitely downgrades the value of a balcony cabin for us.

Eurodam - July 15th Review - Very Poor
mightycruisequeen replied to Sidekick32's topic in Holland America Line
Welcome to Cruise Critic, Sidekick32 . Sorry to read such a sad review on Eurodam; it's one of my favorite ships. -
Anybody seen the Snickers Cake in the main dining room lately? That was worth the nine million calories.

Maasdam 39 nights from Sydney, around New Zealand, and across the Pacific to San Diego in early 2018 was, for us, the best so far. The itinerary was jaw-dropping; we were completely blown away by Milford Sound in New Zealand, and we love any opportunity to visit French Polynesian islands, especially Bora Bora and Moorea, and enjoy the Hawaiin islands so much too. The small ship was pretty much the least crowded cruise we've ever been on, and it felt like a friendly little community. We've done variations of that sailing since, but it's the one to beat, for us!

I'm not gonna lie; I'm a complete sucker for the clothesline candied bacon in the Pinacle Grill.

I'd like to see the new ship be about the size & passenger capacity of Zaandam. I'm not majorly concerned with tons of bells & whistles, but I sure love those smaller ships that don't have so darn many people on them.

We always pick a cabin on promenade deck on the older ships. Like others have pointed out, the windows are not see-thru at all during the day, and at night, you would have to stand right up to the window with the hands around your face to maybe see some shadows. In my humble opinion, the cabins on that deck are by far the best choice, unless you're gonna spring for a suite!

So glad that HAL came through for you!

When will Holland America go back to Bermuda?
mightycruisequeen replied to mightycruisequeen's topic in Holland America Line
Thanks for your responses, but I'm wondering if & when there will be regularly scheduled cruises specifically to Bermuda specifically on Holland America. -
But the question was simply "For the French Polynesian islands in the South Pacific are visas or shots required ?" and the simple answer is no.

HAL Navigator has a 2 star rating on Google Play.
mightycruisequeen replied to kangforpres's topic in Holland America Line
My husband installed the Navigator app on his iphone, and the phone completely locked up. He tried many things to no avail, and finally just let the battery die completely. When he recharged and powered the phone back up, he was able to delete the app and be done with it. Needless to say, my husband thinks a 2 is too high a rating. -
When does HAL send upgrade offers
mightycruisequeen replied to skidroe's topic in Holland America Line
For the cruise we took in April, we received an upsell offer at about 3 weeks out, again at about 2 weeks out, and again at about 1 week out. Each offer was a little more enticing, but we stayed strong💪 with the cabin we booked. The offers were forwarded to us via email through our travel agent.
