Good afternoon from Nieuw Statendam, currently docked in Gibraltar, but due to depart in about 15 minutes. I think today is a day of two firsts for me..... First first, i was awake too early to post on the Daily and had to wait for the thread to post before I could show the ship's position the second first was having a sunrise photo to post! I am not a morning person. In fact I try to avoid mornings if at all possible! So here is my masterpiece.........Rock of Gibraltar at sunrise on 30th April 2024

Lunchtime in Lido had an extra dimsum area.

Good morning fron Nieuw Statendam, sailing towards Gibraltar. Today is a sea day and the sea is running a tad high, but not as much as last night.

Tony did all the booking so I will check with him.

This afternoon the BBK band were trying out some new material

Pool venue has so much more party atmosphere. Under the big screen was dance area and they had put in the 'high pedestal tables' that are used for Captain's reception etc around the rest ot the pool area. Jose, the entertainments host, was giving it max volume and max encouragement, but no one needed encouraging. It was the best Orange party I have experienced so far.

There was a special Tapas corner with many Spanish delicacies in Lido tonight.... It was so good that I had dinner just from the tapas... the "main course" and churros for dessert. 😋

It was Lido dinner, available at 5.30pm. We were in Arrecife, Lazarote, so a port day with 5pm sailaway.

Catching up on today, Sunday 28th April in Arrecife, Lanzarote Here is where NSDM was docked approx 5 kms (3.5 mls) from town centre. a free shuttle was offered supposedly to centre, but it was a good distance from the centre (about 1km) but close to tourist office and restaurants/cafes on the front. Being Sunday there was very little retail open, but we walked up to the shopping centre which had the usual range of stores (Zara, Primark, Primor cosmetics, Jysk, a supermarket etc) all open. we took a taxi from the stoes back to the ship for €9 (nine euro).
