  1. Here are shots of a Serenade studio cabin, 4583, that I took at the end of our recent cruise. Brilliance studio will be the same except these are across wise instead of length wise according to the deckplan of both . As you can see the bed is a single one.

Hey, what are you doing in my cabin?

This was my first single cabin and my first inside. The location was phenomenal and it was actually larger than I was expecting. I'd book a similar one in a heartbeat. I'm in a single balcony on Anthem next year, be interested to see the difference (apart from the obvious).

  2. Thanks for info.

Are you sure that if booked in advance peninsular club discount is applied? We are Atlantic level.

Yep it is. I'd never sailed with P&O until I went on the 2013 world cruise. As there were 5 sectors on this cruise, I passed through a couple of club levels. Any excursions I booked took the rising discount into account, which was nice as I'd never stepped on board any of their liners until we sailed :)

  3. There was no drink pricing at Oasis Schoonerbar in october transatlantic. Not even a list of available drinks. So I did not order anything without asking prices. I would have ordered more drinks if I had a list of drinks. I like trying something different. Probably something Royal would not promote when you have the drinkpackages.

I would never buy an alcoholic drink package as I do not drink that much. We liked the wine and dine package though which will disappear.

I drank at the Schooner Bar on the same cruise, and every time there was a bar list with prices. Not that it made much difference, I was on the package.

  4. You obviously get on as we get off from our Christmas trip Jan 4th

Yep, we must. We'll let you iron out the kinks. Thanks ;).

I went on the Oasis straight after her dry dock and had a great time, but boy were people complaining about things. There were always queues at Customer Services no matter what time of day or night. Things slowly got ironed out. So many people complained that RCI is giving us back 20% of the cruise fare in the form of a future cruise certificate. I'm sure P&O aren't rushing the refit like RCI did.

Enjoy your cruise, I really want to do a Christmas cruise. And don't scuff her too much before I board, lol.

  5. You're wrong. P&O have had two other ships with the same name. Here's a quote from their website '‘Britannia’ has a historical resonance for P&O Cruises, as two previous ships connected to the company have held this prestigious name. The first entered service in 1835 for the General Steam Navigation Company (which later became The Peninsular Steam Navigation Company) whilst the second entered service in 1887 to mark the Golden Jubilee of both Queen Victoria and P&O itself.'

  6. Unless the ship has taken it, I always take it with me. If for any reason I miss the ship, I'll be able to fly out to the next port. I always wear a document belt that sits underneath my shirt/shorts/trousers. On the world cruise, I took a photocopy with the port agent details written on the back too. Luckily never needed any of them, but that's why we take out travel insurance too, isn't it?

  7. when we did our crawl back in may, it worked out best to have those showing cabins to go in the first group, as they got to their cabin, they stayed put. they jumped in with the last group to see the rest of the cabins along the way. this allowed them to see all cabins and not miss out on the fun.

That was what was supposed to happen. There were 12 groups each with timed routes, but with over 150 crawlers most groups seemed to just leave and do their own thing. I had three groups pass through my cabin, each claiming to be 'the last group'. Unfortunately, they weren't, and some groups never go to see all the cabins. Other groups decided that they only wanted to see the suites and ignore the rest of the cabins. I'm not sure how else it would have been possible to arrange it.

  8. I wish they would have put Mama Mia on Liberty as a replacement for Saturday Night Fever. Love SNF but both hubby and I really like Mama Mia. Since we will never go on Quantam unless it eventually comes to Florida, we won't get to see Mama Mia at sea.

I have heard you either love or hate CATS. I have never seen it, so cannot say. But different musicals for everyone. People love Lion King and we both thought by far that was the worst musical we ever saw. In all the years we have gone/seen musicals, that was the first one we both hated. Thought it was a total waste of time.

I feel the same way about Rock of Ages, terrible musical! My friend on the other hand loved it. Saw Mamma Mia with the original London cast way back in 1999, but not likely to see it on board now.

  9. She's leaving at midnight. Or 11:59 to be exact. The explanation was Basically because she needs so much room in the channels, etc to turn, they want to do it latebwhen there are no other ships, large or small, around...who knows if that's really why. But they aren't lying to us about the time.....that's when she's going.

Apparently, she has to make a 3 point turn! I find it strange as I thought with azipods she can effectively spin on an axis.
