....of course the flag was flown upside down......they were out of beer! In the 100 year war the British refused to fight when they were told they were out of beer.........God save the Queen.......
Well a hundred years is a long time without beer!
The British didn't fight the 100 years war.:rolleyes:Yes we did, and it was wayyy longer than a hundred years too

Just me being pedantic again, the flag is called the Union Flag; it is only called the Union Jack when it is flown from the jack staff on a war ship.
It is considered to be offensive to the crown if a ship in harbour flies the Union Flag upside down. it is also offensive to fly it if it is dirty or damaged, it should also only be flown from dawn to dusk unless it is illuminated.
I think we need to bring back keel hauling, lashing to the mast and the cat. but we can only dream. :D
And tots of rum ;)

You can't hate something that hasn't even been built yet. Or do you hate foods you haven't tried too? I have my doubts about the new class of ships. The dining concept seems iffy to me. Does it mean the same menu in the 'free' restaurants every night? In which case I'll be Royally p'eed off by the end of the cruise. Dodgems? Nope, not really. The parachute thing? Airkix is 5 minutes from my house. But I'll still give her a whirl sometime I'm sure. Maybe I'll like it, maybe I won't, but until I've tried I can't say. I've never had a cruise I didn't like yet!

I had the drinks package on Adventure last September and every drink was swiped, not sure if I signed as well.

Take the train and tube, the price of a cab will make your eyes bleed! The Heathrow Connect is cheaper than the Heathrow Express, takes 5 or 6 minutes longer as it stops at about 5 places en route. I'd recommend the Park Plaza Westminster, a stunning view of the Houses of Parliament across the river and 5 minutes walk from Waterloo station. You'll love London and you should definitely take in a show in the West End. http://www.theatrepeople.com/home/londontheatre?gclid=COGl_NKwx74CFe3JtAodNjQAMg

Love it :). Vegemite? A bit creamy for me and as for black pudding..... not thanks :(

I did and Iceland/Norway cruise in September last year (not P&O), and the weather in Norway was great, way better than I was expecting. I'm doing the Britannia 7 day to Norway in July next year, so I'm expecting even better weather!! :D Some pic here, if you're interested http://mickberry.co.uk/iceland.htm

Plenty of other cruise lines sailing out of UK. Maybe it's time to try them. Or wait until a couple of weeks before sail date and grab a bargain then!
-
On both my Indie and Adventure cruises I asked them what they wanted. Nobody wanted dollars, a couple wanted sterling and another wanted euros! If they're sailing out of the UK for the season, they prefer sterling, that way it's easier to send home, no conversion from dollars to sterling then conversion to their home currency. Plus of course they can spend them onshore too.

I'm not, but I did it last September also on the Adventure. Here's some pics

There's a seat in the window. Wide enough for two people. Great for people watching.

That is what I will be doing in August :) :)
And me in a couple of weeks ;)

Bring wine in screwtop bottles!!

I went the first fortnight in September. It was a bit fresh in Iceland, but the weather in Norway was glorious. It was 22 degrees C one day.

Iceland and Norway on the Adventure, out of Southampton, last September. Excellent cruise and stunning scenery, second only to Alaska. http://www.mickberry.co.uk/iceland.htm

I did a world cruise last year (including a TA and a TP), and obviously on a cruise of around 4 months the age demographic is quite high. We had some Alpha Alpha Alpha's but very few deaths. The first one was a corpulent guy who was on a snorkelling expedition and died as soon as he got out of the water. Most people seemed fit and able and there was a guy in his late 80's who complained that one night there wasn't any dancing! I think it's just unfortunate that there've been two so far on this cruise.

I spent 10 days in Tahiti in early February this year and the weather was warm but very wet at times. Probably 50% of the days it rained at some point. One day so hard, that they cancelled an excursion. On the other hand I sailed these waters in February 2013 and had excellent weather. The rainy season is supposed to be November to March though.

I did the 7 day cruise out of Vancouver on the Millennium and had a fantastic cruise. I loved the Martini Bar and Alaska was just stunning. The Millie gets my vote.

I do MTD, never reserve and the longest wait I've had is 10 minutes and that was only once. Usually I'm seated immediately or within a couple of minutes.

I did a world cruise on Aurora and have another 4 monther lined up. I like RCI and also like P&O. I much prefer the food on Royal and if the CD you're talking about is Michael Mullane, then I agree, he's the worst CD I've ever known, by a country mile. He was on the 2013 worldie and by the end of the first sector was almost invisible, as every time he appeared in public someone would collar him and complain!
-
It was Maxine Mazumder on the Aurora last year too. She didtwo different people. Dusty Springfield was one, but for the life of me I can't remember who the other was. Her husband was on board and he's a tribute act as well.

Did it on a trip to Oz a few years back. Disappointing. Best view was from the plane window. We did the sunrise and sunset tours and in both cases, we felt let down. We would rather have been on the other side of the rock with sun rising and setting behind us, instead it was behind the rock. It's about a four hour flight from Sydney, and as it's in the middle of nowhere and the hotel company has a monopoly, the prices are expensive and service not too hot (unlike the weather!).
-
Always head for a hotel. There are usually loos on the ground floor near the lobby. This has worked for me all over the world, and now I'm knocking on, I need it all the more! :)

If she has an EU passport, she won't need a visa for Jamaica and I would guess that if the Haiti call is to Labadee, then they won't even check passports as it's effectively an extension of the ship.
Premium vs. Ultimate drink package
in Royal Caribbean International
Posted
I had the premium package early this month on Serenade, and it was great. I'm sure most of the martinis I was drinking were over the $10 limit, but they didn't seem to care. I looked at the Ultimate, but decided I wouldn't drink enough speciality coffee's of OJ's to make it worthwhile. I'll be buying it again for my transatlantic in October. On a sea-day it's very easy to get your money's worth. A couple of beers by the pool, a martini or two before dinner, wine with dinner and cocktails after dinner. No problem! Port days were more of a challenge, but I rose to it :D
