  1. Astoria does NOT have the facilities to allow disembarkation. The nearest Custom Agents would be in Seattle several hours to the North.

Astoria does have a very small airport but no commercial plane service. Portland, Oregon is 90 plus miles on two lane road to the East.

Postponing jury would be easier. I have done it more than once to be on a cruise.

  2. (1) When in a US port like LA, you will pay whatever their current sales tax rate is per drink.

    (2) On The Jewel's Mexican Rivera cruise, you will have 2 Sea Days and 3 days in port.

How much of that time would you use a Thermal Spa package? are you going off ship in the ports or staying on ship? Based on your answer, then you can decide if the coast of a Thermal Spa package is a good deal for you. I know my answer for me: NO.

  3. I can answer some of your questions:

For dinner, you can eat at any restaurant you wish anytime you wish and there is nor need to dress up, unless you wish. La Bristro ( the French restaurant does say not shorts, flip flops and shirts with collars for men). As a lady I usually wear nice pants and a light weight sweater.

The White Hot Party is offered on Jewel Class ships, not sure about The Epic. It is a late evening party- loud music, disco a degree- required to dress in white NO.

I do not purchase excursions from outside vendors but many do. Great Stirrup Caye is Norwegian's private island. Great time to soak up the sun and relax.

Enjoy, relax and welcome to Norwegian.

  4. Yeah we live in NJ and could take NJ Transit in. That actually seems like a decent option. I'll look into that. A can ride from the train station to the pier, short distance? We have our 3 year old son with us, hows that work safety wise? Thanks for the suggestion.

The Breakaway will be berthed at Pier 86 which by my map is between W 47th and W 45th.

Not sure whether you would be using Grand Central Station or Penn Station but neither is very far from the pier.

  5. Between Thanksgiving and about the 10th or 11th of December are less expensive. I booked this past January for Christmas week and New Year's Week, both have gone up in price. It is a wonderful time to sail however. Had so much fun last year over Christmas that I am going back this year.
