Was on The Getaway for Thanksgiving 2014 and it was a blast.

Who were your Senior Staff Officers both Bridge and Hotel wise?

I have not sailed on New Year's Eve but have for Christmas Eve. People dressed for Christmas Eve. My guess would be is that some people will dress up and many others will not. Yes, they will have a party probably out on the pool deck.

Norwegian no longer has a "formal night".

They had a helicopter medical evacuation yesterday, that might have delayed Her a bit. Do not know anything more about it except that it occurred.

There will be a notice in your Freestyle Daily as to where and when tender tickets will be issued. They will be issued the morning that you are scheduled to arrive in Belize. One person from your party goes and gets the number of tickets your group requires.

Not sure what that letter means and apparently I've been out of the loop. We are scheduled for an NCL excursion at Ketchican from 6:30 - 10:30am. Does that mean we get off when docked rather than tendering? My dh picked this crazy excursion and I'm wondering who the heck feels up to a crab feast at 9 in the morning, lol.....

Several weeks ago a ship from another cruise line was attempting to dock in high wind conditions. She hit with such force that much of the pier fell into the water. The last estimate I as to the cost of the damage was 2 to 3 MILLION dollars. I would guess that it will take into next Alaskan season for all the repairs to be done. I so not know if it is still there or not but the was a picec of video of the accident on YouTube.

I am about to head out for my 3rd Full Panama Canal crossing and can not wait. just the marvel of how they were built and at what cost in time, money and lives.

The Jewel class ships (Jewel and Pearl) are very tight fits. If I remember correctly, it is 18 inches or so from the side of the ship to the Canal wall and 36 inches from the bow of the ship to the gate and 36 inches from the stern of the ship to the gate.

Today is of historical interest to Panama and The Panama Canal. Today the 2nd Canal official opens. It is deeper, wider and longer for each of the locks allowing larger ships to pass safely.

A number of schools particularly on the East Coast have winter breaks in February. It might account for some of it.

(1) No need to pack beach towels

(2) Guest Services will punch your key card

(3) You should have enough outlets

(4) How much money to bring is up to you.

Once you clear security on the lower level of the terminal, then you go upstairs and will be directed where to go.

Be aware that the outside doors into the terminal are locked until about 9:30 A.M.

The current CD is Tyler Grey. Not sure if it's just a temporary assignment until Silas returns from Rio, don't the CD usually contract for a year or so?

While you folks were on this cruise, Norwegian announced that at the end of the 2017 Alaskan season, The Jewel will be heading for Australia and New Zealand for the winter season.

Thank you for your review. I have sailed a number of times with HD Steven and have always enjoyed. Currently I have three cruises booked on The Jewel and will probably add a fourth soon.

Which works better for your schedule:

Seattle- Saturday to Saturday: Jewel

Seattle- Sunday to Sunday: Pearl

Vancouver B.C.-Monday- Monday: Sun

Any of the three would be a great cruise.

All of the major hotel chain properties in downtown Seattle are very expensive plus large taxes attached to them. Airport hotels are a little cheaper but still with very steep taxes.

The Edgewater will run between $350 and $550 a night- small and historic (build for the Seattle Worlds Fair in 1962 but ddid not open in time).

Have you seen the news this morning that The Jewel will be in Australia beginning in mid November 2017 until March of 2018?

 

Thanks bluesea. Right after my post I googled "where is Norwegian Getaway in August "and the Olympics story popped up. Interesting. Never thought of a portable hotel. They also mentioned Getaway I believe participated in a Superbowl in NYC. Is your friend on the August 20 sailing ? Regards Gerry

Wonder if it could be a change in your diet. Did you eat something that contained a lot of sodium (salt) without you realizing it? If it was more hot and humid that what is normal for you? That could have done it too.
