  1. You'd be surprised at how much NCL knows about all of us who post here. It is, of course, in their best interest to see what their guests are saying...even more so when they can attach the real name of the person to the comment(s).

To show you how easy it is...

Look at your signature where you display:

NCL Spirit: New Year's week Dec. 2009-'10 ♥ NCL Getaway: May 2014 ♥ NCL Epic: Nov. 2014 ♥ NCL Escape Transatlantic: Oct. 2015 ♥

Coming Soon: NCL Escape: May 2016 ♥ NCL Breakaway: May 2017

That is a list of 6 different NCL cruises. Now...imagine that you had access to the manifest for each of those sailings (like NCL does). How long to you think it would take someone with a PC to come up with a list of the people that were on each and every one of those sailings? And quite honestly, how long do you think that list really is?

With access to the data, it isn't difficult at all for a cruise line to figure out who is behind a screen name.

    Thank You SesShark,

The Latitudes Department could have your information in probably less than ten minutes and pass it on the ship even faster.

There Norwegian employees who monitor and occasionally comment on threads here.

  2. I have done an Eastern/ Western Caribbean on the Norwegian Pearl and The Norwegian Getaway. I loved it so much that I am doing a back2back2back this December on The Norwegian Getaway.

Unlike you, I much prefer Sea days to Port days. Sometimes in port, I only get off the ship to walk down the pier and maybe shop a little.

The important thing is to enjoy your time together, with others you may meet on the ship and enjoy whatever you are on and all that She may offer.

  3. Here is my dilemma. I am booked on the Tracey Arm Explorer in order to get close to Sawyer Glacier to see calving. But if we go Dawes instead, that seems like wasted money.

So my main question is how much before do they make the decision to go to Dawes instead of Sawyer? Earlier enough to cancel the excursion?

Actually I would be happy to see Dawes because I have seen Sawyer at least 3 times and have never been in Endicott Arm.

Decisions are made pretty much last minute depending on weather conditions and advice from the Forest Service personnel on board.

  4. hey yall,

Here is my predicament, and I'm not even sure if want I want is possible....

My DW and I are sailing on the Pearl out of Seattle on June 5th. We currently have an assigned cabin of 10045 wish is a "IC" inside cabin.

I looked online today and now there are "IF" category rooms down on deck 4 and 5 forward, and they are $400 cheaper per person.

My DW doesnt care about the rooms, so I sent my TA an email to see if NCL would let us take the cheaper rooms, let us keep our drink package, and give us the difference in OBC?

    Anyone know?

I would not change cabins for two reasons:

    (1) Deck 4 is mostly a crew deck and very noisy. In most ports of call you will leave and re-enter on Deck 4.

    (2) On Deck 5 forward you could be under either the casino or the theater.

With either deck that low, you will feel the movement of the ship if you happen to get into rough weather.

  5. Hi- We're sailing July 9th. interested in reading your review. Quick question-there used to be a hypnotist entertainer Brenda Kaye on the Jewel a couple years ago. Is she there on the Alaska Jewel sailings? thanks.

As of a couple of weeks ago Brenda Kaye was on The Escape.

  6. Hi! We are leaving on the Jewel one month from tomorrow...YAY!!!! I have a few questions for you...

Was the dinner attire pretty casual? We are hoping to get by with some nice jeans and tops (polos, button down shirts, etc) for dinner versus dresses for me and slacks for my husband. We're traveling from Florida and I am terrified of over packing!

Were there any places to do laundry on the boat? We are in Seattle a few days prior to the cruise, so I didn't know if I should do a quick load before boarding the boat! :)

Did you or anyone you spoke with do the Tracey Arm Explorer tour?

    THANK YOU in advance!!!

Except for La Bristro, and one of the main dining rooms, dinner attire is casual. Slacks and nice blouse or shirt would work for La Bristro.

There is a Bag Laundry special each week- fill the bag for one price. Non of the Norwegian ships have self service laundry.

I hope you have a wonderful time in Seattle and on The Jewel. If you have the time in Seattle, go up to the top of the Space Needle. It was built for the 1962 Worlds' Fair. Views are amazing.

  7. It might take a awhile to disembark in Vancouver, they are not know for being very organized. I have taken the Norwegian bus transfer to the airport and it works very well. It has been awhile since I have disembarked in Vancouver, so this may have changed but I think that you have to clear US Customs at the Vancouver airport which also could delay you a bit. The bus will be waiting just outside the door to the terminal to take you to the airport. The airport is a good 15 to 20 miles north of the city of Vancouver.

I hope you have a wonderful cruise.

  8. Hi

We are taking the Norwegian Jewel cruise in late November from Los Angeles to Miami

We are quite new to cruising and welcome all info and advice but specifically how best to arrange transfers from the Crowne Plaza LAX to port and from ship to Miami airport.

NCL have advised we can check in from 11am on sailing day(we fly in the previous day) and must disembark by 9.30 am in Miami...our flight is not until approx 9pm so any ideas on how to store our luggage/spend 6-8 hours in Miami welcomed

    Thank you

If the Crown Plaza LAX is a partnership hotel of Norwegian, a transfer to San Perdro and The Jewel is included in the price. I am staying at the Westin LAX in October and the transfer is included.

You might want to check with some of the major hotel chains including The Crown Plaza to see you can get a day room.

  9. We have our first Canal cruise booked for next year (on the Jewel) and are very excited. Thanks to all for the info above.

Quick question: normal ship's announcements are not broadcast into the cabins (only the hallways and public areas) and can't be heard in the cabins or if you are on your balcony. Is the guide's narration during the transit of the Canal broadcast into the cabins themselves? If not, is it live on the TV? I'm just wondering what if anything you can hear when you are on your balcony.

    Thanks!

The last time I did the Crossing, they had the big screen pulled in the lobby and had the bow cam running so you could see forward in the comfort of air conditioning. It can be very steamy in The Canal.

  10. No, you will actually board the ship somewhere around 11:30 A.M.

Your assigned check- in time to an attempt to keep the terminal from being jammed at one time.

Enjoy, She is a great ship and wonderful staff.
