  1. On Deck 5 across from the Guest Services Desk, is the Java Cafe (open 24 hours), a great place to people watch. Just off the lobby is Four Seasons Main Dining Room, more casual than the Seven Seas Dining (aft Deck 5). All the way forward on Deck 12 is an Observation Lounge with an outside deck. Most of the time it is very quiet. The outside deck is a great place to watch as She pulls into a dock or leaving.

The Sun is a wonderful small ship 1900 or so passengers and 950 staff members. I can hardly wait to be on Her again in October of 2014. You and your family should have a wonderful time.

  2. I am looking to book a Panama Canal cruise for 2015. Haven't done it yet, can't decide Miami to LA or vice versa!

I have done The Canal in both directions. I much prefer from LA to Miami. That puts the Canal near the end of the cruise not at the beginning. August 2014 will mark the 100th Anniversary of the first ship to cross through the completed Canal. Sometime in 2014, the 2nd Canal should be open and operational.

  3. I was just looking at The Jewel Roll Calls and found 7 both for 1013 and 2014. The M&G dates are usually set a couple of months prior to the cruise and posted on The Roll Call- no invitations issued by the cruise ship anyway. This is considered a private event and is NOT listed in the Freestyle Daily ( daily newsletter delivered to your cabin each evening).

  4. I have usually cruised on Celebrity and Crystal, where you get an invite to the meet and greet in your cabin. Was very disappointed on my first NCL cruise as I didn't get an invite and then found out after the cruise that I had to be on Cruise Critic the day before the cruise to find out when and where it was. Well, unfortunately I left two days early for the cruise (sans computer) and, since I thought I would get an invite to the meet and greet, I missed it all together. Wish NCL would have the same invite system as Celebrity and Crystal. On my last Celebrity cruise, there were all the officers...Captain on down at the Meet and Greet. On Crystal, all the officers attend as well.

Hope for my cruise in November on the Jewell, I find out about the Meet and Greet prior to me leaving for the cruise.

Have you looked on The Roll Call section for your Jewel cruise. There is probably a Roll Call for your cruise established. Just join the conversation, the same as on this thread. I hope you will enjoy The Jewel and your cruise.

  5. I'd love to! Yes, please send me the address! Thanks! :)

He would love to know about specific staff members that you thought were outstanding and I would also tell him about paying the extra DSC and why you did it. I would also send a copy of the letter to Andy Stuart, Executive Vice President, Passenger Services. Make you keep a copy of the letter for yourself.

  6. I would hope that this is not the LAST posting of your cruise. I would love to hear about getting into Boston and NYC.

I will be on the Gem in May. As I said I had several friends on board The Gem for your cruise (Staff Captain Zeljko Jurac and Sinan and some others). I am glad that cruises like that do not happen very often.

Thank You for taking the time write and post pictures.

  7. I'm just curious, I've seen other threads with similar subjects. Why are passengers interested in knowing who the staff is in advance of sailing? If it was someone you didn't know or didn't like, would you change your cruise? Call me curious from California

I have had 17 cruises with Norwegian. In that time I have met several Senior Staff members that I enjoy being around. I have also met staff members that I would prefer not to sail with again. Would I cancel a cruise if I found out someone was on board that I did not care for, no. Would a book a cruise because a certain Senior Staff member would be on board, YES. I have done that a number of times.
