  1. I had a cousin who was a part time mattress tester at Alexander’s in the Bronx. I was talking to a friend today about the department stores when we were kids and how everything changed when shopping malls started being built. The first mall I remember was Kings Plaza in Brooklyn that opened in 1968.
  2. When milk was 25 cents a container I drank an entire quart on a hot summer day. I cannot remember the last time I drank or consumed milk.
  3. TSOTD is a quote from Albert Einstein “The difference between stupidity and genius is that genius has its limits.” I bought the shirt in Princeton,NJ at the Einstein store .Every tee shirt they sell there has an Einstein quote.

My father was living in Liverpool in 1912.He was 17 and planning to sail to NY to live with his sister and her husband .He had a job waiting for him in Manhattan but they wanted him to wait till he had a better command of English (he was born in Poland).Had he left in 2012,perhaps he would have been on the Titanic and if so I might not have been posting here.
  5. My friend Gerald who is an Author and Journalist has the story in his column for tomorrow ,not about the movie but about te Strauss connection. I have heard about other criticisms of the movie with regard to actual facts.

  7. Thank you,MJ.I graduated college with a Minor in English with a concentration in Literature.I began writing Poetry in my Freshman year. I have written several award winning poems and short stories.
  8. Did you know that in 1898 a novel was written about an ocean liner that hit an iceberg and sunk .The name of the ship was the Tttan. I did not know that . An Internet Journalist friend of mine told me this today.
  9. What is the best restaurant you have ever dined in as far as food ,service ,ambiance,etc ?This could be o a cruise,a land trip or in an area that you reside in. My choice is Rao’s in Manhattan.
  10. The wife of one of the people who died is the great grand daughter of a couple who died on the Titanic ,Isidore Strauss and his wife.
  11. My Parkinson’s Singing Group sang songs from the 60’s yesterday among them the biggest hit of 1961,The Twist.
  12. TSOTD is of John Lennon from Prague in the Czech Republic. I was never there but whenever my children or my Gand children are in cities or countries that I have never been to they bring me back tee shirts .

  15. The best Kosher Deli on the planet in my opinion is the Mill Basin Deli in Brooklyn .An overstuffed Pastrami on Rye is $20.95 .When I lived in Brooklyn I was there many times .
  16. If you go to any Kosher Deli ,the sandwiches are described as overstuffed.You will likely see only one person eating one at a time.
  17. My favorite restaurant in your old neighborhood was Ratners.My mother had a cousin who was a Waiter there and we went to the restaurant many times when I was a youngster.
  18. I never went to Katz’ Deli.The last time I was in a Kosher Deli,it was $10.50 for a sandwich and $2.75 for a can of soda.
  19. When I was a kid in Brooklyn there was a Deli around the corner.A pastrami on rye was $1.10.Cream Soda was a dime.It probably cost more currently.😀
