  1. Politely disagree. Those who pay for Suite and solo rates should earn extra points to keep it equitable.
  2. I'm picky about lasagna, too. I find that most restaurants are stingy with the sauce. I am not.
  3. Agree. It sits in the fridge overnight so the flavors can blend, the sauce get absorbed a little in the noodles, and the cheese settle. Serving within 24 hours of cooking is my mark.
  4. Well, it's like what my wonderful deceased husband used to say: money can't buy happiness, but it's just something one has to decide for themselves....... Same with these desserts.
  5. Thank you, everyone. I expect if there's a hot fudge sundae in the mix, I would have 2 in a week. I agree that two of those pictured would not work for me, either. I'll go look at the other threads.
  6. I noticed in my Princess Plus add-on to my Alaska cruise this May an item called "Premium Desserts, 2 per day". What is different about them, and do they make you scan/swipe your medallion to prove you are worthy of this uplifted culinary experience? (Of course my tongue is firmly planted in my cheek. I'm not even a big dessert eater, but maybe I'm wrong if it's "premium".)
  7. I firmly believe no Italian food is very good unless it's cooked fresh in the kitchen, and then served. That's why I always eat Italian in a highly Yelp-rated restaurant, and skip it the rest of the time. I'm spoiled by my own 45 year old lasagna sauce recipe (NOT spaghetti sauce) and my lasagna.
  8. Agree. This is what I found on the Vision last week also. You can also have 2 smalls and one large, and dessert. I find the large plates to be, well, LARGE! Green tea ice cream is the best, IMO.
  9. I had this happen to both my sons way back in 2008 after a family cruise. They were both well over 18. Just so happens that I enrolled them in C&A in 1994 when we took a family cruise out of San Pedro. After reaching Diamond, I received a letter listing all four of us with our C&A numbers, congratulating us. I went head-to-head with Customer Service in 2008, as I still had that letter. I argued with them for a good 15 minutes, telling them I would be more than happy to send a copy of that letter, with the C&A numbers, on the RCCL letterhead, with the date that my sons reached Diamond status. Or, they could write me another letter, with all the same info, telling me exactly why they WEREN'T Diamond anymore. A supervisor finally agreed with me.
  10. This reminds me of a crew member I talked to in the Windjammer on the Vision. He said he was desperate to get off the ship and find some good Indian food, and that what he'd been eating was.......he hesitated, looking for a description.............I said, "McDonalds of Indian food?" He said, "Yes! Exactly!"
  11. I got the news from my nephew and his family about the Enchantment a few days ago, and was greatly relieved to hear they had improved the food prep and service. My family are not frequent cruisers with RCCL, so they didn't miss the menu changes, like those of us who lost our beloved grilled salmon choice.😀
  12. OK, then you have to decide if you want a lot Greece or France, Spain, and Italy. It's a tough decision, and it depends on how far back you want to go in history, and what you are interested in seeing. I'm prejudiced, I'll admit. I would much rather see art and the Renaissance first, then ancient ruins. I can only say that when I walked into the Sistine Chapel for the first time, I burst into tears. That's how incredible it was, and how overwhelmed I was by actually getting to see it. St. Peter's Basilica is an amazing experience, and if you take Option 2, add a day or two at the end to see more of Rome. What my friend and I did on our 2017 trip was plan for the city sites during the cruise (taking the Rome Express Train tour to avoid using up hours in the heavy traffic into Rome), and then got a hotel near the Vatican after the cruise. We went to St Peter's Basilica at 7am the first morning when it was just opening, always free to enter, no crowds, and could stand and look at Michelangelo's Pieta as long as we wanted. Option 3 with 2 days in Athens. Athens super crowded, and traffic is horrible. So, IMO the only way to get around Athens itself is underground on the metro. You take any tour using city streets, you end up in the traffic mess. So study up on the metro before you go with Option 3. I have an app on my phone, Moovit, that was a great help with buses in Rome, and the metro in Athens. Once you choose, come back and ask for suggestions for the ports.
  13. I tip $5 to each of them. The driver, who kept me safe on the roads, definitely deserves a tip. Plus, I thank him for keeping us all safe as I hand it to him.
  14. I usually ignore chair hogs, since I use the pool deck to walk from the Windjammer to the Solarium. But, last week on the Vision I was pretty amused by one. We were in St. Kitts, it was pouring rain, and had been for about an hour. The pool deck was empty. Except for this older man who would come out from the overhang area where the tables were, and adjust the towels he had on two loungers that he was saving....................................😲
  15. So, that's pretty insulting of you. Many of us have been on this board since the beginning (me, almost). I have been a positive poster for over 20 years, but these changes recently in the dining room were unusual, anti-customer service, and in my (honestly speaking here) ALMOST FIFTY YEARS of sailing with RCCL, are the most negative thing I've happened to me while sailing with them. Let me put that in perspective: in 2005 RCCL abandoned a group of us in Barcelona after a fishermen's strike closed the port until 9 pm the night of debarkation. No help with accomodations. But, that was a one-off, and I knew it. What's happening in the dining room right now is pervasive and fleet-wide. I personally have been on 5 ships and 6 cruises, in the last 2.5 months since the dining changes started. On the happy side of this discussion, my brother-in-law, nephew, and 5 nieces and nephews are on the Enchantment right now. I am very happy they reported the dining room food and service is wonderful. I expected once RCCL heard the feedback, things would start to improve. I can live with entrée changes, but when you cannot provide me with a well prepared meal (after doing so for me for 50 years), then that's definitely a negative in my opinion.
  16. I vote for options 2 and 3. I consider the absolute minimum for a first time Med cruise to be Rome, Venice, and Florence. It there is Santorini in the mix, even better. Amalfi Coast? Double-winner. I also love the Greek Isles, so there's a bonus there, too. Super great trip!!
  17. English is the primary language for all crew on all RCCL ships. Those sailing from Asia might be the exception. But, all Med cruises I've been on (5) English was spoken on RCCL, Celebrity, and NCL.
  18. Go to the dock, don't park, and have one of you see if you can check-in. If not, have a place picked out nearby to eat brunch or breakfast, and then go later. Much more comfy and fun than sitting outside the terminal or in the terminal bored. MFEO: Mimosas for everyone!!!
  19. Same clothing "philosophy" in MI. My son, who lives in Ann Arbor, says that Michiganians get stubborn once the calendar says the weather should be warmer. Over 35 degrees? Time for shorts, tees, and flip-flops.
  20. OP: I just got off the Vision 3 days ago. It might be too early to book. What I had to do for our embarkation lunch reservation is book it through the Cruise Planner, then get the charge refunded since we had the UDP. No way to book embarkation day otherwise. Once on board go to Chops on Deck 6, around the corner from the elevators, and take care of all your reservations for ALL the specialty restaurants. The Chops manager did this for us while we had lunch. We decided ahead what we wanted; e.g. Chops, Izumi, Giovanni's, then repeated that 3 times. You can always change the reservation later in the cruise. We purchased the UDP about 2 months before our cruise, but could not specifically book each restaurant until we got on the ship. You might already know this, but only Chops is open for lunch, and only for embarkation day, and all sea days. We loved the UDP. I found it on sale for $212 each, including gratuity, in the Cruise Planner. Our 10 day cruise for dinner, and 4 lunches in Chops was an average of $15 per meal per person.
  21. Didn't feel you were being judgey, just clarifying it's more laziness than physical.........
  22. Giovanni's accidentally charged me for dinner last Friday, 3/17, that was covered by my UDP. The charge including 18% gratuity was $53.09.
  23. I never said I was physically incapable.....lazy, maybe......tired of the damn thing schlepping along and weighing me down....definitely.
  24. Hmmmmm......I wonder if people constantly disparaging a category of Crown and Anchor members for wearing an identifying pin, or the posters with the disparaging remarks, are actually more annoying?
