  1. Did SS disclose the fact they would be doing this at embarkation? If not, what an unpleasant surprise.
  2. Nope. No sound intrusions at all.
  3. Not sure where you read online that the new cruise line “Ritz Carlton Yacht Collection” has not built their first ship yet, because they are sailing now. I believe the ship is currently in Palma de Mallorca. Obviously, Ritz is not targeting the SS demographic, but rather, wealthy families with school age children. With per diems > SS and most voyage lengths 7-days or less, I doubt most Venetian Society members will switch lines. But, I could be wrong.
  4. Generally speaking, yes probably, of course. This is why I didn’t discount the other issues, at all, in my reply. But, when I read the OP state, “All were horrified to read it was an airport hotel…”, I took it to mean that they were shocked that SS would put them up in an airport hotel, in addition to all of the other issues you cite. If it wasn’t part of the issue, then why include the noun modifier “airport”?
  5. I assume when you say “line” you mean the maître d' or the dining venue managers. If so, I agree, because the “line” is the one who actually sets the policy. Agree, in general. Recent posts have shown some ships seem to be following the line’s policy, while others have not. That’s on the Hotel Directors from my perspective.
  6. As has been pointed out to you by multiple people, it has absolutely nothing to do with the word “nicely”, but rather what is the dress code in the venue for the evening as defined by Silversea. How you, or I, define nicely should never even enter into the equation. From your posts, I realize you are new to SS and anxiously awaiting your cruise, hoping it’ll be better than Regent. I appreciate your hope. But, to answer your your question, SS passengers care because if they are asked to wear formal attire one evening in The Restaurant, Atlantide, La Dame, etc., they expect other guests to dress accordingly, no matter how nicely they may look in designer jeans and a button down shirt, which by the way would be welcomed in other venues for the evening.
  7. You are both right. The score at the top threw me off. Thanks for the help!
  8. After reading it, I was floored by the final score: 4 out of 5. From the writing, I just assumed 2 out of 5 at best.
  9. Maybe one came on board from one of Mr. Silver’s pics?
  10. Who is criticizing you? All I see in your topic are helpful answers, i.e. opinions, to the single question you posed. What am I missing here?
  11. Did you follow the Que method of tasting, or does the three glass minimum only apply to wine? 😁 Hoping this provides a chuckle to @QueSeraSera
  12. Sorry that you didn’t like your hotel. But, don’t understand the issue with it being an airport property when Silversea clearly discloses on their website that, “we also partner with several airport properties to accommodate guests on very early/late flight schedules.”
  13. If third hand online comments are more important in your decision making process than your first hand experience or second hand knowledge, then Silver Spectre’s advice is spot on; bail.
  14. Thanks for the replies. They provide further context. Now we know this is something YOU have wanted to do for a long time AND that you’re actually excited about it. Those are the feelings I would encourage you to hold dear. Let go of the negative emotions of nervousness about the dress code, entertainment, and average age of the passengers. If you will allow yourself to succumb to your excitement of sailing on a line you’ve wanted to for years, your mind will open to all of the possibilities and wonderful things your voyage will provide. Best wishes! I hope you’ll return to share your perspectives while sailing on your voyage as selfishly, we’re doing a similar, albeit longer, voyage with 8-days in the Amazon in March, 2025 on the Silver Ray.
  15. Wait… what? Do I have this right? 1) You didn’t want to sail SS to begin with, but you let a Travel Agent talk you into it? 2) Now, you’re scared as hell that you’ll hate it and be full of regret, like you expected too before you ever booked it, because $330/night is 2x more than you’re used to paying? If I have summarized your posts correctly, then yes, cancel your booking immediately. A 40% hit now, on what has to be one of the cheapest per diems, post-Covid, will be the least amount of money you’ll have to ever spend on SS. Why? Because, if you get on board that vessel and actually enjoy yourself, I guarantee you the nerves you have now at $330/night will be nothing like what you’ll experience on a normal per diem. One last piece of advice… don’t let a Travel Agent, or any other salesperson, ever talk you into spending money on something you don’t even want, especially something that is twice as expensive as you’ve ever bought before.
  16. Hey, hey, hey… that’s some pure Canada Grade A maple syrup right there!
  17. Based on all of the reporting here over the years, you have nothing to worry about. Think of it like going to a hotel… you don’t know until you get there. 😁
  18. You mean like tonight’s pork chop with shredded Brussels sprouts?
  19. Hell, all I wanted to know was whether those driving shoes were a new gift, or not. 😁
  20. Same thing here. Got to get into Thanksgiving dinner shape.
  21. This isn’t a SS issue, per se, since the cruise line would never stop a military veteran from wearing their formal military dress. Ever. My only concern is for your husband and whether he has consulted his military branch’s manual that dictates the wear of that service’s uniform, as well as the wear of uniform items found in the Uniform Code of Military Justice and United States Code. I was always taught wearing a uniform as a veteran is technically only permitted during special occasions such as those centered around military service and family events including military funerals, military weddings, etc. or military-themed holiday events such as the 4th of July. Hopefully veterans in this forum, much more qualified than I, will lend their advice to you.
  22. Weather looks fantastic. What are your daytime temps running at?
  23. I'm impressed by his knife work on those chives. Super tiny cuts!
