  1. Ha! I get it. As you know, I was worried about that move to the lake. Skiers gotta ski. So, where did you decide to buy? I know Sun Valley and Big Sky are too far for day trips.
  2. This probably explains why SS isn’t offering a tour to Volunteer Point. When visiting Port Stanley, Jimmy knows what is important and doesn’t dilly dally. He had us out to Volunteer Point a full hour before the SS vehicles started to arrive. So, IMO yes, you can visit Volunteer Point and it’ll probably be even more spectacular as it’ll be virtually empty. Jimmy will properly advise you, but I imagine you’ll most likely need to forgo any overview of Port Stanley or visiting more than one or two war sites at most.
  3. You exhaust me. All I want to do from that Friday night to Monday afternoon is to stay planted in one place and relax with family by my side. With that said, enjoy yourselves! It’ll be interesting to read your posts to see what you find open during your visit.
  4. Remember those days well. All of the gnashing of the teeth that ultimately led to SS making significant procedural changes after that transatlantic voyage, if I remember correctly. All I know is that the situation on board had improved dramatically by the time we boarded in Santiago (Valpo) that fall.
  5. Oh, wow! That looks like a stunning venue. So different than the Arts Cafe on the Muse. Does it still feel intimate? Have a fun day celebrating #85! We just celebrated my mom’s 75th last week and Silver Queen’s mother’s 90th on Dec. 1. And, JollyJones, if you’re reading this, safe travels to you as you disembark.
  6. I need two different emojis to reply properly; 👍 and 🤣. Thx. It was really incredible. And, to think it came while on board the luxury of a brand new Silver Muse at the time was magical. Between the Chilean Fjords, a mid-voyage overnight land tour in Patagonia, and the Falklands, it was all so inspiring that in just a matter of weeks after that voyage, we booked our cruise to South Georgia and Antarctica on the Cloud. Rachel, your descriptions are spot on. Couldn’t say it any better. Thx for commenting!
  7. A voyage for the ages! Hope you enjoy all that the holiday season entails while aboard the Whisper into the new year.
  8. For us, it was such a dramatically different experience at Volunteer Point. First, the 4WD trip across an unmarked, rugged landscape without a road. Second, the area where the Kings are located was super isolated, so it was practically a private experience. And, third, being able to sit on the ground and have the curious Kings come right up and check us out was amazing. IMG_2810.MOV
  9. Leave it to someone who likes science to ruin a good a thing. 😉
  10. I wouldn’t do any of those three tours, but rather set up a 4WD tour with Jimmy Curtis to see the King Penguins at Volunteer Point. The area is also home to numerous Gentoo and Magellanic penguins too. A veteran of the Falklands War, he’ll fill you in on all of the key sites as well.
  11. Don’t know about golf carts, but if you have Concierge Key status with AA, you can request a direct terminal to terminal transfer using a car or SUV via the apron. Otherwise, as I noted in your other post, I don’t see how you even stand a chance at making your connection. The biggest issue is the terminal where your AA Eagle flight arrives and all of the steps you have to go through to reach the international terminal. Making your connection would be hard enough if you arrived at the AA mainline terminal, but the fact you’ll arrive at the Eagle’s Nest makes it virtually impossible IMO.
  12. Mysty is right. You’re out of line posting your request here. Is it really worth incurring potential action from SS for a measly $500?
  13. That was a wild one when it happened all of those years ago.
  14. Okay. That’s good. When I read you forward observation comment “so wont be sailing on either” about Nova and Ray, I thought you were being serious.
  15. Who told you that? Forward observation is clearly shown on the deck plan, as well as pictures on the SS website.
  16. As a longtime DEN-LAX flyer to Asia international (pre-Covid) via SkyWest and AA, it would be virtually impossible. So, I can’t imagine it working any easier, post-Covid. You’ll arrive at the Eagles Nest (regional carrier terminal) and have to take a bus transfer to the main terminal. Then you have to get to the International Terminal. I just can’t imagine making your connection.
  17. No way! Glad to read she’s returning to a little luxury.
  18. Thought about you when writing my comment. A post stretch inaugural is just as bad as a new inaugural.
  19. I’ll never understand why people book inaugural cruises, especially on Silversea based on their track record. I don’t believe a single Classic ship has launched on time since the Whisper entered service over 20-years ago. And, many of the inaugural reports from on board are legendary here. I remember the wailing and gnashing of teeth that occurred when the Muse launched. Took SS months to get operations sorted out. But, by the time we boarded in November that year it was pure perfection.
  20. You misinterpreted what you read. So, no need to be unhappy.
