  1. It's good to see you again. I remember your reports of cruises with 6 (and wondered how the nickname came about). I wish you a wonderful return to cruising.
  2. @3rdGenCunarder I'm with you on the dark chocolate!
  3. As you know @tring we join you for the TA next week. I share your hope that the tendering issue will be fixed (although I might not bother with Isles de la Madelaine anyway as it is quite a hassle with my wheelchair). As an aside, what is the inside temperature on the ship? The last 2 times we have been on Arcadia I have needed a jumper every day (especially in the pub)!
  4. I am sorry for your loss and hope that the cruise, when it comes, will exceed your expectations.
  5. Yes, the lack of drop-down bars was highlighted on this board earlier this year. Also the lack of automatic doors to cabins and balconies. This seems, to me, to be a real drawback for people needing accessible cabins
  6. I think they have to do a 'proper' muster drill every so many months.
  7. I have just booked for the first evening of our cruise and confirm that we were charged £12pp, minus our loyalty discount. That gives us a pre-booking discount which will not apply if we book again whilst we are onboard.
  8. @Gettingwarmer That's great, thank you.
  9. We are off on Arcadia soon and like to book a speciality restaurant for the first night. Please can anyone tell me what the charge is for Ocean Grill? The Sindhu price is on the sample menu but I can't find anything for Ocean Grill. Many thanks.
  10. My husband met Bea Muller on our first cruise (2006). He is a bridge player and she was truly 'Queen Bea' of the sessions. It sounded as if she didn't tolerate fools (or anyone she considered to be one) gladly!
  11. One glass of wine each on the house, the rest they paid for.
  12. Sounds as if it was me who exaggerated. The timeline was - 20 minute wait for table, further 20 minutes for drinks to arrive, starter arrived after 1.5 hr following complaints to waiter and maitre 'd.
  13. Thanks for all your input. It's good to hear that this is not the new norm. Yes, my friends were kept waiting for their pre-booked table, then a long wait for starters to appear. I believe them for 2 reasons - firstly, because I know the people concerned; secondly because we were messaging each other while they were waiting!
  14. We have an arrival time of 2.15 for our cruise next month, no helpful loyalty level as yet. Don't want to be sent to the naughty step, but don't want to wait behind coachloads of passengers either. Any ideas of a good time to get there? We were thinking of trying to make it around 1.45 (I am a wheelchair user but don't need assistance, if that makes a difference).
  15. My friends are currently on Britannia, their first P+O cruise for a couple of years. They had terrible service in Sindhu last night (2 hours from booked time until they got their starters) and are wondering whether this is now the norm on the bigger ships. We did Iona last year but otherwise tend to stick to the adult only ships so can't answer the question!
  16. Since this requirement was introduced, every cruise I have booked has the evac chair confirmed on embarkation day of the printed itinerary.
  17. We have booked our first Fred cruise - 5 day 'mystery cruise' on Bolette In November 25 - and were offered 6pm or 8pm for dinner.
  18. I love afternoon tea anywhere (have to skip lunch and/or dinner though!) and the scones we had on QV last year were some of the best I have eaten. Of course, things might have changed since then, but I very much hope not.
  19. We are cruising form the UK to Canada and the USA next month. I'm a part-time wheelchair user and, after reading the guidance, happily answered 'no' to the question. I hope your son has a wonderful cruise (we might even be on the same one)!
  20. @redleader74 Thank you for your review, it was lovely to hear about your first cruise. I do remember the excitement when we arrived at the port and saw our ship for the first time, We thought she was big though she was actually quite small, even by the standards of 2006!
  21. The thing I really hate (in general, not necessarily Cunard) is when a paper napkin and fork are placed on the plate, and then the whole lot is covered with icing sugar!
  22. I was born and bred in the Midlands and have always used 'mardy'. Don't hear it much down here on the south coast though.
  23. On Aurora, my husband - who doesn't tolerate spicy food at all - enjoyed his meal in Sindhu. He also ate a 'vindaloo' in the MDR. I am defo taking hot sauce with me next time as I found the 'spicy' food very bland.
  24. @miriams Thank you for your balanced and enjoyable review.
