  1. I don’t use a kindle, I download them to my kindle app on my iPad. Never had a problem…..Argentina, the Arctic, all over the world. Sometimes it takes 3 minutes instead of one or two, but that is it. Just thought I’d let you all know in case this might help.
  2. Are you that desperate to sell cookies?
  3. I must say I enjoy their bolognese as well. I have asked for recipes several times in the past. Sometimes I get them with just a simple request to the maitre ‘d, sometimes they dont respond and I’ve asked a couple of times. If I’ve asked twice and don’t get I assume they don’t want to give it out. Once I asked for a recipe and the chef came to the table and apologized that their recipe was for servings for large numbers and couldn’t really be scaled down for 5-6 servings, which I completely understood. Best is to ask while you are on the ship, sometimes you get it and sometimes not.
  4. So sad to hear this. He was such a sweet man. The staff and many passengers just loved him. We were fortunate to have dinner with him once many years ago. He was the consummate gentleman
  5. We had a great cruise on her back in 2002 i think. Wonderful ship! We always said the turtles swim faster but it was a great ship. Last we saw her she was a stationary gambling ship in Hong Kong harbor. Toasted her with champagne as we sailed by
  6. Couldn’t agree more. It has been a big let down. It feels like CD is only doing enough to get by and nothing else. No enthusiasm at all especially given it is Christmas. Two (maybe more) nights with only a 50 year old and 4 year old movie and absolutely nothing else is really bad. It takes a lot for me to complain as the staff all tries so hard, but this cruise director doesn’t seem to care at all. For example, they had a decorate your door contest and specifically said don’t use any of the ships decorations which is completely understandable. Other cruises when they have done this the CD and social hostess had all kinds of ribbon, construction paper, etc., etc. this time absolutely nothing. What were we supposed to use? I have seen maybe one door where it looks like they decorated with stuff they brought from home. Otherwise only a stocking here or there. (I have not walked all floors). No announcement who won…..no surprise there. I really hate to say it, but the CD has been pathetic.
  7. We are on deck nine and have not had a single problem
  8. We boarded toady and found the ship to be in excellent condition. Dinner tonight was fabulous. No issues for us at all. Two very happy cruisers here
  9. Exactly! You said “IF”. YOU don’t know! You are just speculating and thinking the worst. Whatever happened to this world?
  10. Keep in mind these itineraries are planned years in advance. Things change between when they are planned, sold and sailed. There is no way Regent or any cruise line can guarantee that all ports will be accessible and safe months or years later. These cancelled ports are not unusual or first time ports where “Regent wasn’t ready or knew going in that this could be an issue” Fraud? Seems a bit extreme when you say you “don’t know exactly what happened” and you didn’t understand or are not willing to accept their explanation. What “better explanation” or “more details” do you need. The contract spells this all out and you agree to it when you book. The same things happen to airline flights, train schedules, guided tours, excursions, restaurant menus, and on and on. I doubt very seriously this a “convenience” for Regent, I would imagine exactly the opposite
  11. It is a “Corby”. Never heard of it before. No idea what the wattage is. There is no tag on the cord. It is small and has a tight cord which means a short cord. In my opinion, if you use a hair dryer a lot, you should bring your own. This one is kind of small, only 1 setting (possibly two) and you have to keep the button pressed while using it. This not a big deal to me as I only use it occasionally to get my hair damp, but if you use one for long or unruly hair or use it for styling, you probably want your own, I must say that is the only negative on this ship in my opinion, and for me, not really a negative as i rarely use it. The ship is beautiful, the towels are brand new and so soft and fluffy. The food in every restaurant has been outstanding with outstanding service!
  12. Never once did I imply or state that you were unintelligent, or suffer from entitlement. If it is not normally offered then it is, by definition a special service. And… your post did include comments about not being able to do excursions, not just about disembarkation. All I suggested was that you should arrange for help or consider what help you need when booking a cruise. You said other lines offer it…all lines are different. That means choices are available. I won’t respond to further posts
  13. Just my thoughts (and opinion) as well. All I am saying is rather than complaining about what is not provided, why not take it upon yourself to take care of your own issues instead of expecting others to do it for you? Make arrangements to travel with help….problem solved. The OP complained about this all at embarkation as well. I never said disabled people pick their situation. i am very compassionate by the way regarding disabled people, I have numerous close relatives and friends who are disabled.
  14. At the risk of being completely flamed…. Have you considered bringing help with you for these reasons? I have family members who are to one extent or another disabled, and we make sure we can handle things within our group. It never ceases to amaze me that some expect to be given such services. Can you imagine the chaos that would ensue if there were great numbers of passengers needing help getting around everywhere? I mean no disrespect. My feeling is that to expect this is not only unreasonable but selfish. When we travel we make sure we can handle everything within our group. Our problems are not everyone else’s problems. Don’t even get me started on why they have to go to the front of every line! And bring everyone traveling with them to the front as well. I’ve been told “well it takes longer for me to get through security (or whatever)”. Well…..plan for that. I travel with people who need more time for certain things like security, too and we plan for that. I’ve been told well I can’t sit / stand that long or I can’t wait that long” … then wait till the line dies down and go. Many many people can’t stand for long periods of time and still just patiently wait their turn. Why expect extra “services” and special priority.
  15. Thank you everyone for your help!
  16. A group of 10 of us are on the enchanted princess leaving Rome on November first. We have a few questions. I have not read through all the the princess board, so please accept my apologies if these questions have been asked and answered before. If so, perhaps you could give info on a link to the topics. Questions: (1) how and when do we make reservations for the chefs table? (2) I understand you have to make reservations for the nightly shows. how and when is that done? (3) will we have problems booking things as we have no “status” I.e. not cruised princess before. (4) what does princess require regarding covid these days in the Mediterranean? Just our vaccination record? Can these be pictures on our phones or do we need to take the actual paper record? Any additional advice you have for 10 excited newbies would be greatly appreciated.
  17. We were on the navigator having lunch in compass rose. Waiter asked if we wanted dessert, we declined and left, not five minutes later a wave came up and broke the window one table away from where we had been sitting. It does happen!
  18. In all My 20 years on Regent, I have never seen anyone dump wine or water into glasses. The wait staff always ask if you want still or sparkling. Only the wine staff serve wine and ALWAYS ask what you would like. I think there is quite a lot of exaggeration here. “Throwing a napkin across my lap”. Never seen that either. very little respect shown by these comments for the staff. Sad. Very sad
  19. I must say I am not surprised that this happened given what you packed. When we have used them, they have told us over the phone specifically not to pack any of these items. We were going on a long cruise and could not pack large enough amounts of these things in our carry on so we checked one bag. Some might say that defeats the purpose of shipping luggage. For us we didn’t feel that way. We shipped two large bags and then checked a small one, and had our small carryon. We usually bring back our allotted amounts of alcohol, so we also used the checked bag for that on the way home. Worked perfectly for us and that way we knew we would have no problems
