  1. @h20skibumHappy anniversary to you and your dear wife ! ๐Ÿฅ‚ Enjoy the day celebrating with the grandkids! MJ๐Ÿ™‹๐Ÿป
  2. Greg-Your post about Nearest Green and Jack Daniels reminded me of a radio personality that we used to listen to on WOR 710 AM. Paul Harvey would relate a human interest story that may have been familiar to many listeners. Then, he would conclude with little known background facts relating to the story and sign off with the phrase - โ€œAnd now you know the rest of the story !โ€. So, now we know the rest of the story of those two gentlemen ! Interesting,as I didnโ€™t know that Jack Daniels was a real person and not just a brand name for a whiskey Debbie- Pleased for you that you had such an enjoyable send-off ! Wishing you success and pleasant co-workers at your new job! Lenny- Enjoy the party! It is a beautiful day here in Eastern LI. I am enjoying the breezes on our screened porch.Hoping you are outside celebrating with the birthday pooch ! Wishing everyone an enjoyable day ! MJ๐Ÿ™‹๐Ÿป
  3. Graham- You are a very good husband! ๐Ÿค—๐Ÿค—to Pauline and you. @HBE4 You are a very good step-father! Wishing you and your step daughter a safe round trip to Houston -NY . Also wish her good luck in settling into NY. ๐Ÿ‘ Bonnie- Great news about the walker and even better about lack of pain and a good nightโ€™s sleep! Cheers everyone ! MJ๐Ÿ™‹๐Ÿป
  4. @barbpretz We donโ€™t think of ourselves as โ€œfancy peopleโ€๐Ÿ˜‰. We had two Concierge cabins as the fare prices were not much more than a balcony category. On one of the cruises, we had an aft balcony that was very large. It accommodated two loungers, four chairs and a round table. We enjoyed a few room service meals on that balcony. When we went with friends, we were considering an Aqua class cabin, but decided not to do that as we wanted to eat dinner in the MDR with them. Again a Conceierge cabin because we liked the price and location.. A tip if you plan any future cruises on Celebrity. Check fares for all the categories of cabins. You may be surprised to find some categories to be budget friendly. MJ๐Ÿ™‹๐Ÿป
  5. @Cruisegoer I got what you meant in your post. Being at the Swizzle Inn,a person could get to St George fairly quickly as the distance between the two is short.๐Ÿ˜‰ MJ๐Ÿ™‹๐Ÿป, who loves Bermuda!
  6. @barbpretz We have taken two cruises to Bermuda n the Summit. I seem to recall that an embarkation lunch was served to Concierge level passengers in the MDR. MJ
  7. @Ocean Boy Look into flights going to West Palm Beach (PBA). It is about an hour drive from Ft Lauderdale. You could rent a car,Uber/Lyft or reserve another car service. We are booked on Southwest for this coming October. We were able to find a direct flight to West Palm at a decent time of day. It was the only non-stop flight available. I do agree, many flights are directed to Baltimore, making the trip to FL unnecessarily long such,as a 7 hour trip! MJ๐Ÿ™‹๐Ÿป
  8. We have stayed here pre cruise several times.I agree with others about condition of the rooms at this Embassy Suites. It does need a redo and upgrade. What sells the hotel is location. It is a short drive from the airport and to the cruise terminal. Many restaurants and some stores nearby. The breakfast is complimentary,no need to go to another restaurant. One caveat- the lobby can get congested around check in time and in the morning with guests getting shuttles and other transportation to the pier. Enjoy your holiday ! MJ
  9. @Ozark_Kid Kenzie is adorable and very photogenic! Tell me, just between us,is she your favorite grandchild ?๐Ÿ˜‰ Just kidding- all grandchildren have a place in our hearts and have qualities that we enjoy ! MJ๐Ÿ™‹๐Ÿป
  10. CC has been wonky as I havenโ€™t been able to use the buttons to react to several posts. I have thought of some responses though while I was held up from responding. @Lionesss Your dishes are so pretty ! My favorites are those that belonged to your uncle and your wedding set.My favorite flower, besides hydrangeas,is lily of the valley. I also have a number of sets. My motherโ€™s ,my wedding china,a fill in set from JCPenney that serves 16 and our everyday set. I gave another set of my motherโ€™s away to a friend who admired it. She was reluctant to take it as it might have had sentimental value for me. Not really. My Mom bought it at Gimbelโ€™s on sale and used it to extend her china set that only served 8. The dishes coordinated nicely. The friend has served us dinner on those Gimbelโ€™s dishes. I was glad that someone would use them. @Ozark_Kid The photo of the cucumber flower reminded me of a conversation my grandfather ,a farmer, would occasionally have with a neighboring farmer. The neighbor had immigrated as a young child from Germany and had retained his German accent. The neighbor would say , with his accent, to my grandfather,โ€So,John, what happens first, the flower or the cucumber?โ€. It was his version of the chicken or the egg conundrum. No right answer ! Lenny- We will probably watch the Yankee Old Timerโ€™s Day. Kind of hard to realize that Derek Jeter is one of the old timers. Still miss Yogi though. Wishing all here a good evening! MJ๐Ÿ™‹๐Ÿป
  11. Happy anniversary, Andrew and Lisa ! ๐ŸŽ‰๐Ÿฅ‚๐Ÿ’โค๏ธโค๏ธ๐ŸŽŠ I have heard that July is a. very good month for weddings !๐Ÿ˜‰ Cheers! MJ๐Ÿ™‹๐Ÿป
  12. Sea Dog- Your dinner sounded delicious! While we enjoy entertaining and did do a lot of it pre Covid, it can be a lot of work. I find that I start days before with cleaning. My hubby always says that I should leave the cleaning for after the guests leave! Then there is grocery shopping and then cooking and preparing the food. We have always had a routine. My hubby is in charge of drinks and making the guests comfortable while I put finishing touches on the meal. After our guests leave, he is on KP, putting leftovers away and filing the dishwasher. We enjoy having company and making it a team effort to entertain, makes it easier for both of us. MJ๐Ÿ™‹๐Ÿป PS Thank you for the good wishes and the compliment.
  13. Chins up, Lunastella ! Keep your eye on the goal. The cottage will be a lovely retreat for you and your family. MJ๐Ÿ™‹๐Ÿป
  14. Lenny-Happy birthday! ๐ŸŽ‰๐Ÿฅ‚โญ๏ธ๐ŸŽ‚๐ŸŽˆ๐ŸŽ๐ŸŽŠ Cheers! MJ๐Ÿ™‹๐Ÿป
  15. @Arzeena I am still thinking..... Maybe we were on the same cruise sometime? Are you a Fairfield Univ. alum? My husband is and he had many friends from NJ. MJ๐Ÿ™‹๐Ÿป
  16. I would like to thank all those who sent us good wishes for our anniversary. We are looking forward to celebrating our 40th next year- maybe with a cruise ! MJ๐Ÿ™‹๐Ÿป
  17. Thank you for the review and the lovely photos. All the flower photos reminded me of the beautiful flowers we saw when we took an Alaskan cruise in 2004. I was surprised to see so many beautiful flowers blooming ,but we were there in July and it is a Summer month. Hoping you and your hubby and son feel much better soon. Darn virus!!! MJ๐Ÿ™‹๐Ÿป
  18. @Arzeena I am not sure about crossing paths somewhere. Do I look familiar to you? I have been told by a friend that she has seen a doppleganger of me. Maybe I look like someone you know. I have lived in NY all my life. Grew up in Queens and,for 38 years on the North Fork of LI.. Are you from NY? It would be a small world if we knew each other. Just a thought... Have you cruised with a group of friends on RCI ships out of Bayone? Friends of ours from Floral Park were part of a group that did that together. She mentioned that one of her friends posts on CC. Maybe that is it ! Curious- MJ๐Ÿ™‹๐Ÿป
  19. Mimi- Thank you for the update of your dear friend,Ginny. I hope that she can retain her spirit in the challenges ahead for her. I think her friends will help her with that. On a practical note- could she have a chair that takes you up stairs- not sure of the name - installed so she could get to her bedroom and bathroom? Hoping she can get in the facility you were in so she wouldnโ€™t have to move from nursing care to a rehab center. Does anyone have any โ€œpullโ€ with the facility to advocate for Ginny? Bonnie- Good news about ditching the wheelchair soon. You are making good progress! MJ๐Ÿ™‹๐Ÿป
  20. As I have mentioned before- this thread moves quickly ! Which is a good thing as it is filled with interesting info and life happenings. Catching up here with peppers ๐ŸŒถof different kinds, gas prices (going down๐Ÿคž), travel photos (๐Ÿ“ท) particularity Singapore- lovely @aussielozzie18and York - interesting Graham, and the favorite cities lists๐Ÿ—’ where some posters have cities in common. And not to forget- Jimmy Buffet! I will add that today is our 39th wedding anniversary. As a friend texted us today- โ€œWhere did the time go? Wasnโ€™t it just awhile ago that I was dancing at your wedding ?โ€. We celebrated with a late lunch at a favorite restaurant. No food pictures as I donโ€™t think hubby would understand. But it was yummy. Shell steak for him,a half order of ribs for me and a shared upside down peach cake. Now,we are getting ready to watch the Yankee game. It was a good day! This is us! MJ๐Ÿ™‹๐Ÿปand hubby ๐Ÿ‘จ๐Ÿปโ€๐Ÿฆณ
  21. UNo matter the prices - fact is , cost of living has gone up and salaries ( at least mostly in the NYC metro area ) have gone up too. As to the car- it was loaded, plus dealer prep, NY license and registration fees and ,of course, NYS sales tax Also interest on the auto loan. Anyway, I loved driving that car! Good luck to your daughter. Smart to go to a community college taking core courses, then go to college/university for the remaining years. If that is the plan.
  22. @Sunshine3601That is a pretty garden and crepe myrtles. Our tree doesnโ€™t bloom until late August. The blossoms are the same color as yours. @LionesssI wouldnโ€™t argue with those pups! Dinner ? Yes, coming right up ! Mimi- Thinking of your friend Ginny today. Have you heard how she is doing ? Wishing all here a peaceful day. MJ๐Ÿ™‹๐Ÿป
