When did this happen? Last time we were on the Crown was 2011. Lucky that you had a heated pool!π MJ

Looking at the itinerary, it is basically a cruise from England to Norway. Perhaps the port fees are expensive for Norway compared to,for example, some of the Caribbean Islands. Those port fees could help to escalate the cruise price. It is also a 14 night cruise. The interior price is approximately $2110. At that rate, a 7 night cruise fare would be over $1000. I have seen interiors go for close to that amount since the restart post-Covid. Do the fares include gratuities, drinks package and a specialty dinner package? There are a number of things that could affect the pricing for this particular cruise. A good suggestion was made to compare a similar cruise on other lines to check if Princessβ pricing is extravagant. You could also call Princess and ask for a breakdown of the cruise fare to understand the cost of the cruise. MJ

We were on the Crown several times beginning in 2008. Always enjoyed days in the Sanctuary and the nearby Lotus Spa pool. Then,it had a resistance machine you could turn on to create something like a wake to swim against for an exercise experience. The pool was not heated and not covered. MJ

@George CI read that you sometimes go to Zum Sammtisch (sp?) for German food. Reading your post reminded me that many of the German restaurants in Queens are long gone. Before my parents married, my father inherited a two family house on 66th Place in Glendale. Although we lived in Forest Hills,we would often go shopping or out for Sunday dinner to Glendale or Ridgewood. It was the area that he was very familiar with and my mother liked the shops n Mrtyle Ave like Lobels and Urdangβs. The restaurants I remember were Gebhardtβs and Durrowβs on Myrtle Ave, Neiderstiens in Middle Village and the Triangle Hofbrau in Richmond Hill. Did you ever go to any of those restaurants? It is quite a trip for you to have dinner in Queens, but I recall that you have family in NY that you visit,so enjoying a meal with them is a pleasant way to get together with them while you are in NY. All the best to you- MJππ»

Lenny- Is the German restaurant you are thinking about ,Luchowβs? As I recall, it had a downtown location in the City. During the Christmas holidays, they had a huge, decorated tree in the center of the dining room that was lit up every evening. I also want to say that I am very pleased for you that the new walker is giving you such good mobility. It must be a pleasure for you to get out in your neighborhood and be able to chat with people you havenβt seen in a long time. I hope you continue your walks for quite awhile. MJππ»

Men's formal night attire question
MJSailors replied to ae_soleil's topic in Royal Caribbean International
Formal nights as we remember them from 10+ years ago are no more. At least that has been my experience. Granted, our last cruise was on the Celebrity Summmit to Bermuda in July of 2019. I saw one gentleman on Chic Night wearing a tux.My husband wore dress plants, long sleeve button down shirt and tie that evening. On prior cruises he always wore a suit and he did wear a tux on the QEII. My suggestion for your hubby would be to leave the dress blues at home and bring another kind of uniform- navy blazer, dress shirt and tie and dressy kahkis or dress pants. Enjoy your cruise! MJ -
You could look into the time frame of getting them by the time of your cruise. If there is time, go through the renewal process ASAP. In the past, it was possible to go directly to a passport office and the passport would be processed quickly. Check to see if this is still possible and/or if there is a passport office in your area. Also check if Bermuda accepts a birth certificate to enter the country. MJ

Lenny- I am so glad for you that you have mobility with your new walker ! I hope you have many days of enjoying walks in your neighborhood. You are right about staying in today because it was so warm outside. I drove my hubbyβs car to an appointment this afternoon and when I started the car ,the temperature gauge said 98 degrees ! It is cooling off tomorrow,so maybe you can go out and about . MJππ»

Thank you for posting this response to @antsp. With his/her way of thinking, it is no surprise that this virus continues to affect so many since 2020.

Carnival Freedom Fire Reimbursement questions
MJSailors replied to Gaprofitt's topic in Carnival Cruise Lines
You could look line for a last minute Carnival cruise leaving this weekend. Also consider other cruise lines leaving Port Canaveral, such as Royal Caribbean or Disney. -
Thatβs a good idea, Luckynanna. If Dani canβt find a St Nicholas medal, a hand drawn little plaque with that saying would make a lovely gift. It would be more personal, for sure. I always associated St Nicholas with Christmas as the character of Santa Claus is based on his generosity to children. Santa Claus aka St Nick. We can learn something everyday. ! MJππ»

Dani- I am thinking that you would like to get a gift for Captain Kate. If so, I have a suggestion. You mentioned that she has a statue of St Nicholas. I am Catholic and I was not aware that he is the patron saint of sailors. So,I looked up some information about St Nicholas. Here it is: Many ports in Greece have his icons (statues, art pieces) displayed. In some ports, instead of wishing one another good luck, sailors say βMay St Nicholas hold the tiller. With that in mind, Capt Kate May appreciate a medal of St Nicholas that she could wear on a chain around her neck,on a bracelet chain or keep it in her pocket. I am not sure if such a medal would be found in the Christian sites near Haifa or if you could purchase one from an online religious jewelry store. Just a thought. MJππ»
