Notice on the Costa Venezia there are no mini fridges in the cabins.

On my booking it does not list the mini fridge as an amenity

I thought they would have added them with the drydock

    Hi 🙂

On the Carnival GOCCL site, updated 11/13/22 it lists every cabin with a non-stocked mini bar.

In St Maaten, the touristy place to go is Maho Beach and watch the airplanes land.

Best beach we found for snorkeling is Dawn Beach.   and if you just want to wander around Phillipsburg, take the water taxi over and then head to Miguel's along the beach front.

Of course if you want to venture out then Orient Beach with its topless optional vibe would be a place to head for.   And for really good food the lolos along Grand case are the places to go.

Unfortunately, Hilda's Windsor Castle ( Bourdain's rave spot) is no longer ,thanks to Irma.  Sorry you never got to go there.

In San Juan,  you have to find Mr Piragua's Shave iced cart.  .  Barrachina is the rumored home of the Pina Colada.  You need to at least head for the fort El Morro.  We like to have lunch at La Gratis Ya, which looks out over the ocean.  Between El Morro and San Cristobal.

And there's the Bacardi Factory tour, with its samples, really good stuff, not just Bacardi Blanco.

    Hi 🙂

I agree with so much of what you wrote! We love Dawn Beach & our favorite is Orient Beach. Love Orient Beach. For rookie, touristy cruisers, yes there's Maho Beach, to watch planes land, LOL!🤣

Oh I got into an argument with a lady in the elevator earlier who said she paid an $80 excursion to the mahogany bay beach. I told her it’s free. She said it’s not. I said I’ve been here quite a few times. It’s free. She walked out.

    Hi @Saint Greg🙂

Did you ask her which excursion? Carnival has 39 excursions listed for Mahogany Bay Beach. I'll drop the Carnival link below.

I recall on older ships you could easily see behind the TV and locate these. But new ships the TV is butted up against the wall.

A great deal of passengers don't know this, but MANY cruise ship televisions pull away from the wall 2 to 3 inches for viewing angle purposes. Often it takes a tug to unsnap & you have to know which side to pull. Whenever I am hesitant to pull, I always ask my stateroom steward which side to pull or I ask if the tv pulls away from the wall at all. Most, not all, stateroom televisions do. Its just that most passengers wouldn't or don't think of it.

Can you convince Carnival they are really a no-show when they were just on the ship earlier that day for the first leg of the B2B?

    Hi 🙂

I was thinking the same exact thing. I can only assume they would have to use their (In-Transit Pass) and disembark completely, as if they were sightseeing, or have plans, etc... Then become a no show.

Also, they would have to leave all of their luggage on board. Would not look good if they disembarked with their luggage & (In-Transit Pass).

Not sure about this... The optics of the entire situation just don't seem right.

on the ports of call section.

I am scheduled to go there on my upcoming cruise but can't find it in the ports of call section.

    Hi 🙂

Amber Cove is in Puerto Plata, which is in the Dominican Republic. Anything Amber Cove will be in the Dominican Republic section of Cruise Critic.

  7. Hi @Beave8920🙂

Thank you for your account of such a disturbing incident. I feel that Carnival should've disembarked (all involved) at the next port with police waiting. Everyone fined & banned.

The outcome would've certainly been different if the drunk passenger, or one of the men in the other party died as a result from the altercation.

There is no excuse for this type of behavior from anyone involved.

  8. Hi @TxTeach79🙂

Since you'll be sailing on Mardi Gras next month & you enjoyed the 3-deck high (Grand Central) space & everything it had to offer, and you also frequented the (Grand View Bar) within; I wanted to share this tip/reminder with you once more, for your next voyage.

    Reminder:

The Grand View Bar makes speciality cocktails inspired by the theme of that evening's entertainment. The specialty cocktails for that evening might not be listed in a menu & you just have to ask the bartender, "What are the cocktails that match tonight's entertainment".

Terrific review Paul, wonderfully done, Bravo!!!!

    Hello!

Anyone know for certain if the TV's in the rooms have active HDMI port(s) or not?  Want to be able to watch movies from my own source.

    Thanks!

Carnival locks the TVs down you aren't suppose to add stuff to them. People will be around saying my husband/wife/blahblah bypassed things using x or x , but you aren't suppose to.

    Hi @dandeck🙂

HDMI ports on cruise ship televisions ARE NOT locked at all. It is simply the Input Button/Source Button on cruise ship Remote Controls that are deactivated.

Nothing is deactivated on the televisions themselves.

Thousands of passengers across many cruise lines have been doing this for years. Its not against ANY cruise line rules whatsoever. Hundreds & hundreds of families do this for their children aboard cruise ships.

    ⬇️It doesn't get any easier than this⬇️

    1) It's all about the remote control. Bring your own. Change the input.

    2) Hdmi cable from your cd player or cd player on your laptop hooked up to the television.

TIP --- In regards to Carnival, I've noticed a regular $8.99 Samsung Remote will change the Source/Input.

Why would you book an inside cabin when the balconey cabins have amazing views, light, and fresh air? Do you book an inside cabin because of better sleep (dark metal bunker-type room) or is it for seasickness since you can’t see the ocean? Just trying to wrap my head around the purpose of the inside cabin, since you are missing out on waking up to amazing views at sea with an inside cabin. Thanks!

Much cheaper price for an inside cabin.

For example purposes only below; prices & deals change. But this will give you an idea & something to wrap your head around.

    8-Day sailing on Carnival Magic

    March 9th to March 17th, 2024

    Balcony Cabin........$2,104.00

    Inside Cabin...........$1,524.00
