Why do you see fights breaking out?

I certainly see many fights & arguments breaking out on cruise ships due to the much warranted need for social distancing. Let's use 'masks' as one example; the escalating tension over masks has spurred protests, rebellions, fights, shootings, and even one fatal shooting. There will be plenty of fighting. Its inevitable....

Eliminate the self serve buffet entirely and convert the space into stations that have staff put together plates, sandwiches, burgers, soups, whatever for pax.  No more pax touching community food or utensils.

Yes!! Eliminate the self serve 'trough' (the buffet) entirely......🐖 🐷 🐖

Where on Carnival can I find my FCC and $600 OBC ?

I've perused all around my account.  I can see my booked cruises, but not my FCC and $600 OBC.

    Any help would be appreciated.

Hi VentureMan, there might be some helpful answers in the below thread.

Grand Cayman originally had a reopen date of May 31 but Tourism Minister Moses Kirkconnell said that the island will now remain closed to tourists until at least September 1, 2020.

Several cruise lines, including Carnival Cruise Line, Royal Caribbean, Celebrity Cruises, and Disney Cruise Line, all currently have cruises in August with a port stop in Grand Cayman.

Good for Grand Cayman!! August is too soon for tourists. It is INEVITABLE that most islands/ports will eventually delay their opening dates as well. No matter how much they rely on tourism. The virus will decide when the time is right.

  6. The Fair Credit Billing Act, a federal law passed in 1974 gives you the right to dispute charges in case you are dissatisfied with the transaction through a process called Claims and Defenses. You must file a report on a disputed purchase within 60 days of the statement date on which the charge appeared.

  7. While realistically evaluating the virus situation right now, we are taking a break from cruising & won't even consider placing a deposit on any particular sailing for at least 18 to 24 months from now. We'll certainly cruise again, but most likely not until 2023. The smoke has to clear & the dust has to really settle before any money comes out of our pocket.

    And this means???

Other than the obvious, being that meyer turku will be laying off hundreds of workers; I think the meyer turku press release certainly means the layoffs could affect the October delievery of Mardi Gras to Carnival, which would then delay the November 14th sailing, and so on... I see nowhere in the press release that says it will or will not affect the delievery of Mardi Gras. We'll have to wait & see. Either way, this is not a good thing.

Is there a specific reason why the older ships must have muster drills outside?

I located this information from our Chief Engineer here on Cruise Critic. I'll drop it below👍

construction and arrangement requirements for muster stations.

SOLAS Chapter III/B, Regulation 11 lists the requirements for muster station location for all ships, and Regulation 25 lists the additional requirements for passenger ships:

Regulation 11.1 "Muster stations shall be provided close to the embarkation stations.  Each muster station shall have sufficient clear deck space to accommodate all persons assigned to muster at that station, but at least 0.35m2."

Regulation 25.1: In addition to regulation 11, muster stations must "be in the vicinity of, and permit ready access for passengers to, the embarkation station, unless in the same location"

Muster stations are designated at new construction by the classification societies, after determining that the locations meet SOLAS and the class society's rules for ingress and egress, fire protection, lighting and ventilation, and the overriding requirement is SOLAS' requirement that the muster station be at or near the embarkation station (where you actually board the lifeboat).

For practical purposes, for cruise ships, this means on the promenade deck under the boats.  Newer vessels have reduced the size of the promenade decks (and some older ships did not have sufficient outside deck space), so the use of indoor muster stations became required.

As part of this design review by class, alternative muster locations are designated, again if they meet the requirements for space and the other details noted above, and also special needs locations.

However, if a cruise line wished to change muster locations from outdoors to indoors, they would have to show class a valid safety reason for doing so (passenger comfort is not a concern in an emergency), and all such new locations would be subject to study using crowd and crisis management paradigms to determine their fitness to be a muster location, or if this was an original alternative station, then a further alternative station would have to be found.

This and all the changes to documentation and signage on the ship costs a lot of money, has very little chance of showing a safety requirement for the change, which is why you will not find any cruise ship changing their original muster station locations during the life span of the vessel.

The OP asked for their post to stay on topic a page or so back. I think some members missed that.

Carnival will adapt on future cruises. What do you think will change? I think buffets will no longer exist. Maybe cafeteria where servers pick it out. Beveragrs will no longer be self served. Maybe 2 turn downs a day to make sure rooms are clean and occupants not sick.

I see no Roll Call for this cruise.

Considering the CDC has stopped cruises for 100 days.

This one should still be good to go. I hope! 🤒

    Hi ALWAYS CRUZIN/TwoDayWonder,

You should create the roll call post for this Halloween sailing👍
