  1. Same here. Carnival May be different but on our NCL Western Caribbean cruise (out of Miami) we had six different time changes, including daylight savings time. We were always on the same time as whatever port we were in. It made us crazy!
  2. I’m interested in this as well. After watching several YouTube videos of Limom, we’re leaning towards staying on the ship.
  3. I read somewhere that David is being removed during dry dock.
  4. Please don’t do this. I sailed in the Haven with food allergies and they were all accommodated. Simply tell the butler no snacks are required. If he continues to bring them, speak to the concierge ( his boss). The kitchen and service staff works hard to accommodate food allergies. Lying about it makes it difficult for those of us that do have them to be taken seriously.
  5. NCL is great with allergies. They will do exactly as asked.
  6. I have cruised gluten free several times on Norwegian. Contact special needs dept in advance and let them know you are celiac. They were able to make pretty much anything gluten free for me. I am pretty sure they can make your cauliflower soup. When you go to the buffet let them know you are celiac. You don’t want to risk cross contamination. If they can, they will make whatever you want to order for you. It will be much easier for you if you have someone on board that knows your dietary needs that can keep you safe.
  7. We do the same. It’s easier to grab a bag than smaller items that might be forgotten. I just don’t bring expensive or sentimental jewelry with me. I have rings that can’t be replaced ( my moms engagement ring). I leave them at home. I hope the OP gets her things back.
  8. This is why writing a letter to your butler can be really important. You can set expectations ahead of time as to how much or how little attention you require. We left our letter in the suite for him once we boarded. For example: To our Butler We are ______ and _______ We would like to have the following snacks _______ We do not want the following________ We do not need you to provide these services ____________ We would like you to do the following for us ____________ And so on. Will the butler comply? It depends on the butler. But it is extremely helpful for him or her to know what’s expected ahead of time. I agree that if you don’t use his services you don’t need to tip. Also, if the butler ignores what you tell him and is really in your face about tipping, I wouldn’t tip either. You should tip accordingly. JMHO and from experience. We had one okay butler and one outstanding butler. We tipped accordingly.
  9. From what I’ve read layers is the way to go. I also believe you can ask for blankets from your room steward. We’re taking our first Alaska cruise next year in May.
  10. There’s a shorter 3.75 bus/train tour with Chilkoot. This is the one we will most likely be taking: https://chilkootcharters.com/white-pass-summit-rail-bus-2/
  11. We’re sailing on the Spirit May 17. We’re taking an NCL fight in the day before and staying at the NCL hotel. Then we’re taking the shuttle to the cruise port. It’s my understanding that the train leaves at 12 pm. Where are you staying overnight and how are you getting back to the train? It leaves from nearby the airport. You’ll need to be there around 11 am. I looked into the train but it seems easier to just stay at the hotel and go to the port from there. JMHO. We’re really excited too!
  12. We stayed in a suite on two cruises. This was the best advice I’ve ever seen on cruise critic. It made my life so much easier having dietary issues ( and it will even if you don’t). The butler brought everything I asked for.
  13. Yep mostly crab. But we weren’t prepared.
  14. We are thinking of taking the blue bus to Mendenhall glacier but don’t want to buy in advance. Does the booth at the pier take cash only or do they also take debit/ credit cards? Thanks in advance for any info.
  15. I am not celiac but gluten free due to IBS. I sailed in NCL twice. They were fantastic with gluten free options! Just be sure to contact special needs so that they can plan ahead for you. Also make sure to verify everything is gluten free with your server. I would avoid the buffet due to cross contamination. I ate at Teppanyaki one night- they were very accommodating. They made my meal first so as not to cross contaminate.
  16. Last year in Maryland we paid $40 per crab cake at a local restaurant. Talk about sticker shock 😵
  17. OMG yes! Worked with Acc**** many times. Worst ever!
