  1. Does anyone have experience with renting a wheelchair on RCCL. The port will be Galveston, the ship Jewel. TIA
  2. This will be a first time needing to rent a wheelchair for cruise. As in the title, we will be cruising out of Galveston on Royal Caribbean. Does anyone have experience with renting a wheelchair in Galveston for a RCCL cruise? TIA
  3. My all time top favorites are Australia/New Zealand and Africa.
  4. We have never been on a Carnival ship, and I know Miracle is a smaller and older ship, but that doesn't concern me. What does concern me is some of the posts I have read about rampant pot smoking, unruly kids, fights, brawls etc. and lack of Carnival security to handle such things. As in the title, the cruise I have booked is 11 nights in January 2025. Should we expect an older, calmer bunch? We have been on a lot of cruises, all over the world, and have never experienced any of this. A little pot maybe, but spitting wild disrespectful kids, and wild brawls is not something we have ever experienced. I have no problem losing the deposit.
  5. I always bring Bonine and ginger caps but have never actually needed them.
  6. We have done many long cruises, other than bras and underwear which is hand washed, everything else goes to ships laundry.
  7. Having reached a point in our lives that flying somewhere to get to a cruise ship has just become difficult. This leaves us with Galveston, Sooo, when is MSC coming to Galveston, and do they still match RC Diamond Plus and Celebrity Elite?
  8. OP- Bless you for enabling travel for your parents, you are a wonderful son. Not knowing your parents ages, I may be way off on this, but your Dad flying into Aruba and out of Curacao, with just the 3 days with your Mom and you, sounds really stressful to me. Whatever you work out I hope you and your parents have a wonderful trip.
  9. We just did the New England & Canada this past Fall, and did B2B, so roundtrip. I hate flying, so for us the B2B was a no brainer. Edit to add, I can't comment on the ships because our B2B was with a different cruise line.
  10. It's 11 days, Miracle, January 2025, so I don't expect a lot of kids or a booze cruise, but I must admit, I previously could not imagine I would ever book with Carnival. I know this is an older ship, but the ship is a size we are more comfortable with. Strange what happens when life options change. We've reached a point that flying from Houston to catch a cruise on the East coast (or somewhere else) has gotten difficult for us. So.. I decided to check out both Carnival and NCL out of Galveston, both lines we have never cruised with. I literally had panicked that we couldn't travel anymore, then I thought of Galveston. So I canceled two TAs, and I have B2B out of Galveston on RCCL Jewel in November 2024, this Carnival Jan. 6-17, 2025 and NCL Prima Jan. 17-31, 2025. Thank you for the comments, I do appreciate the insight.
  11. I have never booked through Viator, but I have booked Tours By Locals in many places. We have never had a bad experience. https://www.toursbylocals.com/shoreexcursion
  12. How is the weather on a cruise to Cozumel in January? January in Cozumel brings mild and comfortable weather, making it an ideal time to escape the winter chill in many parts of the world. The temperatures typically range between 70°F (21°C) and 82°F (28°C), creating a pleasant environment for outdoor activities. It would be good to bring a light jacket/hoodie or sweater, but weather should be pleasant.
  13. It would be cheaper, however there will not be much room to move around, plus four women and one bathroom is inconvenient at best. I would look for either a two adjoining cabins, which gives you twice the space and two bathrooms, or a two bedroom/two bath suite. When you are looking at cabins, check square feet and then measure that out in your home to get a feel for space per person.
  14. I am in the same "boat" as you, and yes you will be fine. On the first day if we are on a ship we don't know, we check out places that look like good options for us to hang out and read. You can also look at the deck plans of the ship you will be on and find which decks you want to check out in advance. We always find some place where I can watch the ocean, in addition to our balcony. Give me a ship out to sea, an iPad mini full of books, and I am happy. We've been everywhere we wanted to go, so we don't even need to get off the ship. I hope you enjoy your first cruise, it is a wonderful way to travel.
  15. We downsized in 2005 from two story 3500 sq ft to one story 2400 sq ft. We don't plan to move again, house is paid for, no point in not staying in it. When we downsized we had a big garage sale, what didn't sell was donated. I don't know about anywhere else, but here there are many choices for donating furniture, household, clothing etc.
  16. Have you contacted the cruise line directly since you do not believe the authorities onboard handled the incidents correctly? Since the assault happened on a ship in the Atlantic Ocean, it's doubtful that any onshore police would have the authority to get involved. Contact the cruise line and go up the chain of command.
  17. Laszlo, Okay, thank you for the info. Now I know it's not something I need to book. Appreciate the info.
