That is a big difference between Oceana and Princess!  On Princess you will not hear from anybody in the Medical Dept during your quarantine  (I sure didn't).  I guess you get what you pay for!

Sheila got covid a year ago on Sky TA. Came down with it first day of crossing. After self testing called medical dept guy came up and tested both of us, Sheila positive me negative. Offered some stuff to help with symptoms and offered me the choice of whether to quarantine with Sheila. Silly me said yes.

They had two sections for covid patients. Had a balcony before and had one for quarantine.

After that they came back once for Sheila to take her pressure and every few days to test me.

Room service young lady was great, we got pretty much whatever we wanted and she sent other stuff that she thought we might like.

Last morning they escorted us off the ship to a waiting taxi never did go thru customs.

Not only that, but you could fit loungers on a Caribe balcony (if you could get one of those).  Perhaps a 1:00am sneak to the top deck and smuggle it back?  LOL.

I would liberate one that is not being used at the time. Not as if you are keeping it after you leave.

  3. We took Island end of July for voyage up the coast of Norway to Northcape. We were told by friends we would not enjoy the layout of the ship but did it due to a super itinerary.

Much different than any other Princess ship and missed the Int Cafe.

As I recall shows were 7 and 9 pm and production shows and flyons were very good.

Had excellent waitstaff in dining room. Service in Horizon was poor. Apparently lots of new crew including those on first ship and many wandered around quite a bit never looking at passengers to see what they might want. The hardest workers were two supervisors who did much more helping passengers than the crew.

Island had very nice library and great service from IT people.

Loved the itinerary but would stick with larger and newer ships in the future unless another unique itinerary.

  4. We did a connosieur tour for Alaska and was great.

Dinners were included including a tour director who travelled with us and handled any issues.

We went way into Denali would say at least 50 miles, could have hopped onto another bus to go the rest of the way but we chose not to.

Was expensive but glad we did it.

Exactly what Princess wanted to happen.  Offer a "free" service, no one bites (sorry for the pun), Princess saves money.

Replace Alfredos/Gigis with:  Gym Classes, Specialty Desserts (2x/day maybe), Casual Dining, photos, etc.  SMH...waiting for Princess to raise the cost of the Beverage Packages to reflect EXCELLENT new offerings.  (aka Sheldon Cooper)

They run the risk of taking away to many people and people vote with their feet to cruise elsewhere

I did the trip to the midnight sun (Norway).  You could tell the Brits from the US by how they dressed on formal night.  The Brits would come prepared with formal wear and the colonists (USA) would dress down.  It did not change the atmosphere or food because I chose the later.  The sun was up for three days.

Think we were on the same cruise. Amazing how warm it was at North cape and than as soon as we turned south temp was down to low 50's.

That was a hard pill to swallow.

And when you actually add up the $$, how much did it actually cost them considering that you had to give them back the complete setup in exchange for the 15 cups of coffee. 😒

For the liquor set up would think most would take home the little bottles not used. We took advantage of the coffee but probably never used up all 15.

    I don't either.
Let's just say that now Princess has not decided that the IC is no longer free....will folks forget about it and  "move on"?

Int Cafe becomes a pay for and think that would be the last straw. Still not happy they took away the swap for coffee card for elites.

Also depends on how many suites and elites are USING the laundry service 🙂

    True

Thinking on the Island they had a lot of new crew members so thinking few assigned to laundry.

Since it took 3 days we sent out smaller bags every day or two, like many others I would imagine so overall longer times mean more loads of laundry for the laundry to deal with..

Or…the money back in the 70’s and 80’s wasn’t all that great when concert tickets cost $12 and she actually makes more money now. I guarantee that Bruce Springsteen and the Eagles are making more money now on their respective tours than they ever made between 1975-1990.

    Interesting.

We will be on the same Enchanted cruise.  It will all depend on how many Elites are onboard? 🤷‍♂️

Typically, TA's have lots of Elites.

    Expand

Sky was ta and was next day. Island was not and three days.

Guessing hotel director decides how many crew members do laundry.
