  1. Quiet yes, but can you see now why we went back a couple of times to 'do' the Inside Passage! If you've had a really great time, and want a more immersive dip into 'the bears and nature', try four nights at Knight Inlet. That was an experience never to be forgotten.
  2. Spawning calendar depends to a certain extent on the species but seeing the bears catch, or try to catch salmon in the Glendale River is an amazing sight too but that was mid August.
  3. We've added our own items onto the order card in the past and it’s been delivered so I’d say yes, you can as far as QG is concerned.
  4. Am I misunderstanding here as we use obc for grats., or service charge as we call it.
  5. As said, on another thread Posted 11 hours ago Can't edit The reason for the 'no charge' is the order off menu facility is available in the cabin too so as long as the meal comes from QG kitchen, there's no charge. However, ordering like that for room service will involve timing and last year, we ordered lunch off our Butler, at breakfast time.
  6. We were told by a senior member of staff, Queen Anne benefitted from 30% staff from each ship plus 10%new staff. How true that is I have no idea but if you were happy with the staff status quo/service on QV, what went wrong on QM2?
  7. I'm sure it wasn't on the menu but if asked for, it's chargeable whereas it's available every day if anyone wants it in QG. edit it doesn't have to be listed to be an available extra
  8. Yes. We always have the photo taken at check in desk.
  9. I am aware of both but some of our non UK friends might not be although PBS does a great job with UK comedy.
  10. I can picture Mrs Bouquet, drinking her Earl Grey from a QG china cup and balancing the saucer very carefully, little finger in the air and looking down on us plebs who love a stoneware mug of breakfast tea around 3pm on deck 10 or 11, depending on the ship! 😄
  11. Not at all.Very practical. These mugs have been a QG deck staple for donkey's years. Drop one and they don't shatter.
  12. As far as I know, there is already one charge for a certain QG item if asked for in PG, maybe more.
  13. We have a mixture. I'm old school and have the original and my husband has a mixture and we were used to taking adapters. We were sent into a state of pure panic last July when we found our refitted/revamped cabin on QV didn't have either and we weren't prepared as 'the cabin had usb ports' didn't it!! Deck 6 doesn't!!

  15. Apologies, mixing up posts. Yours was supposed to be just food and you got the cabin bit too. Good to know you're happy with it but as far as the restaurant is concerned, if unhappy today, get it sorted. 🙂
  16. A quick tip re room service menu. If wanting a chargeable dish off the room menu, QG or not, you will be charged. However, if you order the same meal through the the QG restaurant [via your Butler] I am assured you won't get charged. Didn't try it out but that's what our wonderful Butler told us in May.
  17. Go and see the Concierge for your first port of call. They are often more proactive than Front Desk.
  18. Yes. There are and we were lulled into a sense of false security 'knowing' the refit had included usb ports. Deck 7 aft -loads so didn't need our adapters. Great news so when our next cruise was on deck 6 we left our usb adapters at home. Big mistake. Deck 6 aft - none but luckily, our Butler lent us one of hers. On Annie, we didn't take a chance so took adapters. There were loads of ports in our cabin, of both types.
  19. I'm not a fan of QM2 and have no QG experience with her and doubt I ever will but I have of the rest of the Cunard fleet and I find it hard to take that the Cunard flagship has a QG standard which falls below her sisters. Not acceptable. Food. If a hot dish, it should be served hot. If it isn't ask the Head Waiter over and ask why it's not. It happened to me last year and the meal was whisked away and a replacement brought. It took time and my husband had finished his entrée but I got a hot meal. I also asked if I could have a magnifying glass one meal so I could find my filet mignon. That too got whisked away and two brought for me. Freshly cooked although I say cooked but as I have mine blue so it didn't take long. No one will spit in your meal and if no one points out issues, they can't be rectified. Each meal, there are items common to all menus which is why some dishes in the buffet will be the same as QG menu. The difference being however, is the range of choice in the various restaurants. Ask for the following day's menu the night before and if nothing floats your boat, ask for what you'd like. It's no trouble and it's part of the dining experience. That goes for starters, entrées and puds. Whatever you want, if the ingredients are on the ship, you can have it as long as you let the head Waiter know in advance [hence asking for the following day's menu 🙂]. Cabin QM2 is 'old' and a few questions on this forum would have prepared you. Neither of the Vistas have usb ports as standard and I wouldn't have expected Mary to have either and would have gone prepared, mind you, we were caught out last year when expecting deck 6 aft cabins to have ports, and they didn't but that's another issue. We keep the bathroom light on so can't comment on night lights, and hangers? Can't stand 'those' so would try and get some 'proper' hangers if there are any on the ship. The butler is there to help in any way he/sh can. I usually ask for more padded hangers for delicate items although on Annie, I had more than enough this year. Basically, don't let 'things' fester. Ask, ask and ask again. 🙂
  20. We wouldn't dream of booking long haul without a Cunard flight included in our booking but I realise that's not popular. Why not ask your agent before you book or if you book direct, ask before confirming your booking.
  21. I have been told just because the Captain isn't on the ship doesn't mean they are on holiday. Bear in mind Captain Thorhauge will have been 'at the helm' for more than the previous three cruises. They share the Captaincy of Queen Anne.
  22. You've heard of the Tooth Fairy and her band of fellow fairies [we have her best friend, Fridge Fairy], well you've just come across Window Fairy! 😁 Enjoy and can I suggest once you get to the Fjords, have a camera or phone with you at all times, including meals [although I can forgo any food photos, thx] because guaranteed, when you don't have it with you is when you want to photograph something. That's how I caught a water spout on camera last year when in the Baltic!
  23. Ketchikan is supposedly 'the wettest city in the US' and on our three visits, it has been a bit damp. We split up the last time we were there. He wasn't feeling great so he went to the lumberjack show on the pier and I went kayaking in the Tongass National Park. Amazing.
