  1. Well I’ve joined the party late but not really. I went back to read your review with your uncles in tow and that brought me to your other ones, I am enjoying each of them. So sorry for your fur baby losses though. I have been busy reading 😀. Not caught up with the others but caught up here.

I hope your mom gets better after rest and food. I also hope you are feeling well and over the pneumonia.

    Enjoy!

We are in DC. Earlier today was one of the worst flights of my life. Completely full SWA flight, and there weren’t 3 seats left together. Andrew and I took the last two on the last row and Brian took a middle nearby. The older businessman on the aisle that I sat next to was not at all happy to have a seatmate (although if it hadn’t been me, it would have been someone else).

He smelled strongly of cigarettes. He also felt entitled to about a third of my seat and made no effort to stay in his own space. His leg was way over the line. He dug his elbow into my arm & side for the entire flight. He wasn’t even overweight, he just apparently did not care. I had to encroach into Andrew’s seat and still got the elbow on the other side. He nearly popped me in the face with it a couple of times as he fidgeted and shifted around constantly and dug in his bag every few minutes. When my tray table was down, his arm was on it.

To make it even worse, just before takeoff, we taxied back to the gate and sat there for an extra hour while maintenance changed an engine air filter. Hours later when the flight was nearly over, the pilot aborted the landing and had to circle back around. I thought that flight would NEVER end.

Oh it does sound awful. I can’t say I would have tolerated it at all!  Kudos to you 😀

I have. Couldn’t remember how long so found a recipe that said 14 minutes at 400. Guess it depends how thick they are!

we spent the afternoon listening to great music and drinking beer at a local bar. Perfect way to spend a Saturday afternoon. Tonight there is entertainment at the hall so we are going to go. I think it’s the last show of the year and our first! We aren’t big on entertainment….

Thanks, I did use air fryer setting on oven and it took about 35 mins until they were at proper temperature. They were very good.

No, we had tickets to fly to Australia at the end of January and fly back mid April but then saw this Pacific crossing cruise up for sale and cancelled our plane tickets. A much nicer way to travel to Australia than flying. We are travelling in Australia until the end of April and then flying home as we did not find any cruises departing Australia that late (they all seem to leave in early April).

Your pictures and commentary have been fabulous, thanks for sharing.

Have a wonderful journey in Australia.

P.S. What part of Canada are you from?

No, she buys new ones. I think she experiences taller stems with new ones.  She wants long stems and nice blooms for her customers.

Well thanks for the education. I planted many bulbs a couple of years ago and the darn squirrels went off with them. I have about 5 tulips in my bed in the spring. I am far away from having a green thumb so I only plant hostas now, can’t kill them. I could start a business for just hostas because they spread so much.

Debbie, this is exactly what I had been offered, just like Eric.  I was so happy to have picked #3 also.  Although I never had to wear glasses until I turned 40, my eyes got progressively worse over the years.  I love not having to wear glasses anymore!

I too hate wearing glasses. I just went today to order new ones, the ones I am wearing will not stay on my head and my spare pair were left behind somewhere in Florida. I asked the doc today if I could have cataracts, sadly he said no.  I have to wait 2-3 weeks now for the new ones.

  7. Rainy day here too. I was going to cook pork chops on the grill but decided I didn’t want to get soaked. Has anyone ever cooked pork chops in air fryer. If so, how long should I cook them for?  I have rarely cooked with air fryer so have no clue.

Kenzie's family is in the flower business.   They have several beds they grow flowers in.  They are using one of mine for tulips. Since Tuesday they have pulled about 400 tulips from beds.  She has planted 3,000 tulips this year.

There are a few reasons tulips are grown as annuals and thus the bulbs left on.  Once the tulips are all pulled the beds can be used again.  My bed should be emptied by April 7 leaving it available for more summer flowers or vegetable plants.

With the bulb on tulips can store about 2 weeks longer in a cool area.

Also it's easier to get a longer stem for display when the bulb is pulled.

Are the bulbs then replanted in the fall?

I was thinking the same thing!!  Fairly new lurker here--I've followed along with Megan's and Jamman's latest reviews and have read a few of Sid's reviews--this led me to the first tribe post here--I'm up to page 623--Have a ways to go!  My husband would come home and see me sobbing over some of the trials and tribulations that were experienced in that post.  I also meandered over to the Ms Mary posts--talk about sobbing!  My eyes were swollen!  Once I finish the first Tribe post, I will start at the beginning of this one!  Good thing I'm retired!

Oh boy you have been doing some reading 😀

    Welcome!

I found a Norwegian Cruise that works in the middle.  It leaves the day after we get to Barcelona and it goes to Spain, France, Italy, Malta, Greece, and Croatia, and ends in Trieste for Venice. We get to spend 5 days in Venice before flying back to Barcelona to join the Mardi Gras on the trip back.  We are really liking that Carnival is doing so many of these for their Dry docks.

    Sounds amazing.

She’s good. Thanks! We’ve made it almost a week. She hates the car and when the kids leave. She’s house broken… whimpers and heads to the back door. She is a little bit of a chewer… but I can sub out a shoe or sock for one of her toys pretty quickly and she hasn’t torn anything up so far. The kids love her minus the howling in the car.

We have a new pup too she is quite a ball of energy. She is also a chewer but like you said pretty easy to distract.

She doesn’t mind the car but she is spooked by airplanes in the sky and they are working in the field beside our house with heavy machinery so spooked by that too. She refuses to go outside we have to coax her with treats and even then it is a challenge.  We both have to go out with her.

She’s quite a chicken which bothers me because we go in the motorhome to car races and not only is it loud but there are always fireworks.  Yikes!  I guess we will keep our fingers crossed but not looking very favourable.

Lighthouse beacon decided not to work last night.  We had the most beautiful starry night sky.

Today was hot & sunny and  we visited Hawks Nest, an hour south of the Lighthouse (2 1/2hrs north of Sydney) - a lovely small beach community that we used to holiday at regularly when the kids were very little. Back then Hawks Nest/Tea Gardens were known for their koala community and we would see them in the trees, after we crossed the singing bridge.  There are still signs up warning “koalas cross here” but the koala community has been decimated by loss of their habitat for development.

The beach though is still as beautiful as ever.  We didn’t spot any dolphins today but they are usually seen in the waters here.4C6E693E-5CAA-4E96-9AF9-F6EA179FE918.thumb.jpeg.39b4b8d23a3378da618f1cb4b2f36367.jpeg

An old sign in a parcel of bush habitat that remains.

That’s sad about the Koala population.

Yes, they tied it in last night about 1am. Then replaced the pole today about 11am. I used that time as my lunch break and took Sadie to town to get a few things.

WOW that is scary good thing for him to be okay. Most don’t survive power poles.

How is Sadie?  I may have missed it but how did the kids react?  They didn’t know if I’m not mistaken.

  14. @ceilidh1  I’m so happy for you and your son and daughter. That extra will mean so much to you all.

Good things happen to good people and you deserve every bit of good that comes your way.

Yaye!  P.S. Is a cruise upcoming to celebrate?  Whoops I didn’t read far enough.
