  1. The older satelites are stationary so their signal gets worse the farther north the ship goes. The lower orbit satelites move orbit but their orbits are optimised for populated mid latitudes. There can also be ground relays so that might be why it might seem better in port.
  2. That beach is highly polluted and if you take the water taxi at the end of the dock by the marina you can see the sewage dumping into the water.
  3. They don't turn off the WiFi. They turn off the ships cell tower in port or close to shore. You don't want the ship cell anyway either in port or at sea. Your devices should be in Airplane Mode with WiFi on when at sea. You can take it out of airplane mode in ports and use your cell plan but don't forget to put it back in airplane mode before the ship sails
  4. If she has an EDL which is issued in 5 states on the Canadian border ( Washington is one of them ) then she does not need a birth certificate. It should not be confused though with Real ID. Some have been confusing Real ID with Enhanced Drivers License (EDL). A Real ID license would require a birth certificate.
  5. Nope. Calico Jack’s has gone out of business.
  6. Because of covid my experience was in August 2019. My last visit when on a ship docked in Hamilton. You can probably find more recent reviews on TripAdvisor.
  7. More than a mile, it is about 1.5 miles. I took the #7 bus. I did not try walking as my experiences in that part of Hamilton waliking have been problematic. The Botanical Gardens unfortunately have been neglected. A real shame. Not worth a visit in my opinion.
  8. The Dockyard is geared toward cruise visitors so some stores will be open. In St. George’s and Hamilton retail most stores will be closed. Other businesses on the island will be open, restaurants, Crystal caves, museums. The public bus runs less often on a Sunday schedule. The public ferry schedule is less often and the public ferry to St. George not at all. The $7 minibuses that shuttle to Horseshoe Bay will be operating. Taxis have a 25% surcharge on Sunday’s. I have been there a couple of times on Sunday and I went to Horseshoe but there were also snorkel boat excursions and the like available that tempted me.
  9. Moved because bad weather predicted. https://www.royalgazette.com/tourism/news/article/20220509/sailgp-streetfest-moved-to-thursday/
  10. Moved to Thursday because bad weather predicted.
  11. This festival is part of the run up to the Sail GP races in Bermuda. Wednesday night 7-10 on Front St. Bermuda. https://www.royalgazette.com/tourism/news/article/20220506/sailgp-street-fest-to-take-place-on-front-street-on-may-11/
  12. There are Sail GP (Sail Grand Prix) races in Bermuda on May14 and May 15. I guess the boats are like America's Cup boats but it is not America's Cup. The races will be in Great Sound and you could probably see something from King's Wharf. If anyone will be in Bermuda on Wednesday May 11 there will be a Sail GP street fare in Hamilton starting 7:00 PM.
  13. I would have replied to OP if I had seen that link. That is Chaplin Bay. It is between Warwick Long Bay and Horseshoe. It is quite beautiful and secluded. There is also always some surf on the South Shore beaches. I think Chaplin is in a semi cove so any surf probably mitigated. Normally there are not chairs there. Their excursion operator must bring the chairs. I usually don’t do ship excursions but if I had OBC I would definitely, 100% recommend that excursion on the last day. It is gorgeous there.
  14. That is the price the 2 day pass has been for years.
  15. I would guess they will have something open for the morning hours before the Visitor Information opens like in the past.. Eithier kiosks or something in the cruise terminals. The Visitor Information Centre opens at 10:00.
  16. In 2019 they had torn down the terminal bulding on Kings Wharf and were buliding a new terminal. The old terminal building had a ticket window for transportation tokens and passes. So they needed the kiosks. I don't know what they are doing now. None of the recent visitors has reported back.
  17. I personally have avoided all Bermuda holidays but I have read reports. Stores will be closed in Hamilton and St.George's. Some may be open in the Dockyard since it is oriented toward visitors. Restaurants will be open. It is the first day of what locals consider beach season so many head to the beaches. In the past many camped out on the beach but maybe not so much anymore. I would expect beaches to be crowded. The public bus runs on a holiday schedule. That means a lot less runs. probably best to avoid. The publec ferries run on their normal schedule. There will be a surcharge on taxi fares. The big event will be a parade in Hamilton on Front St., dancing, Gombeys, drum majors etc. It has been on hiatus the past two years because of covid and resumes this year so Bermudians will look forward to it.. If I were in Bermuda that day I think I would be in Hamilton to see it.
  18. If you are at the beach during the day, 9 ish to 5 ish. there will be plenty of taxis and minibuses when you want to go back. If you want to stay late, after 5 or so like for a sunset, then arrange for your taxi driver to return.
  19. If they are using Safari the notice may be from iCloud keychain. There is a list of passwords that have been used in known data leaks. So Safari knows if the password has been in data leak and pops up a warning. Unfortunately many people reuse passwords. I am guilty of that myself on sites from a long time ago before data leaks were understood. Other browsers besides Safari probably do the same thing.
  20. That was a provision made for NCL since they told their passengers to wait until they did the test to submit the form. So there was not enough time to get them all approved. NCL sent that to their passengers. There is nothing to indicate if will apply to other passengers booked on other cruise lines. Have your recieved such a noteice from royal? I would not assume that the exception will apply to Royal passengers.
  21. None of the cruise lines have done well in keeping their Bermuda passengers informed. Glad you have yours done. The whole situation is unfortunate. No one needs this kind of stress for a vacation. The Bermuda government is creating a lot of ill will.
  22. I don't know when they shut down for the winter but they have always been open in October in the past.
  23. Many cruise passengers have golfed in Bermuda. There was a thread a few weeks ago on golfing in Bermuda which has some info..
  24. Sounds like you need a new travel agent. You have had plenty of time and still have plenty of time left to fill out the Bermuda TA. Your sailing has been listed on the Bermuda website for almost two weeks.
  25. They have outsourced it to a local Bermuda company. With 25 million revenue in the Bermuda budget from the TA's they have an incentive to get it done.
