What is the date?
-
My advice is that if you want a taxi at 7 or 7;30 is to prearrange. I have been out there early and while there were taxis they had been prearranged. I had arranged the taxis one sailing for a couple of friends who were going to mass and the other time for my friend who had a 7:30 tee time at Port Royal. After 8 is when taxis show up in large numbers. YMMV.

A time frame wasn't mentioned.

Why would you bring an item that is prohibited? Seen plenty of them on the confiscated items table. The scanners seem to have gotten a lot better. Likely a few don't get spotted but I don't think anyone could say why. Don't bring a prohibited item.

There is an opinion piece in the Wall Street Journal by a civil engineer who proposes rebulding the bridge before the end of the year by keeping what is left in place, the approaches, and just replacing the 1200 foot span, truss design and all. I hope not. The design is outdated and I would hope that lessons would be learned from the catastrophe and that they would not rebuild it like it was built. .

A reminder to stick with ship tours in remote places
Charles4515 replied to edgee's topic in Oceania Cruises
Aren’t you being judgmental? There are people who would never take anything but a cruise line tour. I can have an opinion about that. I take all kinds too. About 55% independent, 10% cruise line, and 35% walk off the ship and walk or take a taxi. When I started cruising it was 75% cruise line and 25% walk off the ship. I quickly learned I could do better both quality wise and value wise booking independently. Four of us with a private guide at the Hermitage as opposed to 45 on a cruise ship excursion there wearing wireless earpieces trying to keep up with the guide who was rolling through every area. Why bother to go to St Petersburg for that? The cruise line intimidated the passengers to go on their lousy tours. But certainly if an attraction is far away I will book the cruise line tour. In Africa at a tender port like the people who missed their ship were visiting I would have booked the cruise line tour. -

This we can agree on. I am a firm believer of having some easy days. -
A reminder to stick with ship tours in remote places

Sounds good but 25 is too many. My limit is usually 12. We had about 12 on all the tours I have done in Istanbul. We had 6 on an evening tour. It was all walking, the subway and the tram. I have done some larger tours to use up OBC and usually regretted it. -

I think people who only do ship tours lack creativity 😀 In most cases ship tours are over packed, too many per guide and often the most generic. I sometimes do a ship tour but usually regret it while independently booked tours have mostly been top notch. Do research and don’t end up on a bus with 20 to 60 others. If for example I can be lazy and go to the let’s say the Acropolis with 50 people or in a van with 10 people. Same place but the experience is going to be different. It really is not inconvenient to find an independent tour that takes 12 or less. -
They don't change the bus routes seasonaly. You could possibly make an earlier bus if you take the 8:00 ferry. The bus station is about a 10 to 15 minute walk from the ferry terminal. You can take the 1,3,10 or 11 bus. Any bus that says St. George. From the Swizzle you have the same 4 routes to Hamilton. Pink pole at bus stop means bus towards Hamilton and Blue pole bus towards St. George. Keep that in mind because they drive on the other side it is easy to lose sense of direction. I think your plan is doable if you actually get up and make the 8:00 ferry. 😀

They don’t put an end date but last year the winter schedule went into effect November 6. Based on past practice I would expect something similar this year.

It is a reduction in service not an increase. On the days it ran last year they had four runs to and from St. George’s. Now they are only doing two or one to and from St. George’s. It is pathetic.

Effective April 29 http://www.marops.bm/Documents/Ferry/Summer Ferry Schedule 2024.pdf

They just raised the fares 15% on April 1 so adding that I would estimate for 1-4 passengers overall on a weekday it would be $29 plus tip.

Turn AT&T to airplane bEFORE entering ship
Charles4515 replied to oatbagg1's topic in Celebrity Cruises
AT&T Unlimited plans include Canada, Mexico and Latin America. They may not be on an unlimited plan. -
It makes more sense for Royal to build or obtain some smaller ships than expect the taxpayers to rebuild multiple bridges. Can it be even be certain that the Oasis and Icon class ships will remain popular. One big disaster and evacuation of thousands and poof goes the market. None thought the Titanic would happen or that the Key bridge would collapse. These super sized ships have been lucky.

Credit Cards for Best Travel Insurance
Charles4515 replied to Unclefester6132's topic in Ask a Cruise Question
My main reason for the card is free travel. I have not paid for a flight in a long time. Transferring points to Hyatt or booking Hyatt through Ultimate Rewards has been great. I have the Freedom card and Freedom Flex. This quarters category’s are restaurants and hotels. It stacks so I am getting 7% when I eat out.
