  1. The companies you mention are all middlemen. Like the cruise line. I prefer to book direct. If you search you can find the actual tour operator and not go through a third party. Enter the tour description in google is one way to find the real tour operator. Also check the CC port of call boards. There are usually recomendations for tour operators on those boards.
  2. That was a proof of concept, I said technically possible but it is not something that is happening in the real world.
  3. It is techniclly possible but nobody has actually ever been hacked through a USB plug. And how would they do it on a ship. Most likely the vector of any attack through USB would be through the cable not the outlet. The FBI recycles their old warning every few years and my phone warns me too about unknown devices but I would not worry about public chargers on ships, US airports or supermarkets. I don't worry on a plane. I would worry in China..... In any case I don't use those ports because USB A outlets are useless to me. All my devices are USB C now. Glad there were two 120v outlets on the Summit nightstand. I used those.
  4. It makes more sense to fly to Florida for November and December cruises. We always did that in December with our group but one December we decided to cruise out of New York. After that we returned to flying to Florida. I don't think anyone wanted to do that again and the folks driving home to New Jersey were impacted by a snow storm.
  5. That is pretty ambitious for one day. You can take a taxi or bus to Warwick Long Bay early and walk the beaches and trail to Horseshoe. The road to Gibbs Hill is not walkable, no sidewalks or shoulder. So take a public bus or taxi. from Horseshoe to Gibbs. I did it by bus. Then bus back to the Dockyard. You should be able to get a public ferry at 11:45 and probably the NCL ferry will be in the same time frame. I suggest you might skip Alexandra Battery and start at Fort St. Catherine or even start at Tobacco Bay. You are planning an awfull lot of walking and it is going to be hot and very humid in the afternoon in July I hope you are young and athletic. Bring a lot of water. You might also skip the Bermuda Triangle Tour. From what I .hear it is not exceptional. Don't forget you will need lunch and dinner. How long is the horseback riding on day 3? When does the ship leave? You could probably walk the beaches after horseriding. You will already be there.
  6. No. The inflatables is Longtail Water floating water park. Calico Jacks is the pirate boat docked next to it.
  7. I don’t know why you are bringing up the ADA in this topic. It is about bringing a friend to the Diamond Lounge. You don’t understand the ADA though. It is not required to admit a caregiver under the ADA. They don’t have absolute right. The passenger can take that up with the special needs department.
  8. In Iceland drivers and tour guides will accept US dollars. That is what we did. We tipped every driver $5 and every tour guide $10 but feel free to not tip them or tip more. Restaurants there is no tipping.
  9. What you are calling a guardian is called a caregiver. Caregivers are not guaranteed admission to venues and events under the ADA. That is something that a business can consider on a case by case basis. It is called reasonable accommodation. If someone going on a cruise needs a caregiver they would have declare that and the cruise line most likely won’t allow that passenger that needs a caregiver to board. They don’t have to.
  10. I don’t know why someone brought up the ADA. The question was about bringing a friend into the Diamond Lounge . However the ADA does apply to accessibility standards for cruise ships that use US ports.
  11. I use my Apple Watch for all my contactless transactions and have been for years, all my credit cards are in my Apple Wallet but over the past two years as my credit cards expired the new cards were contactless. All my cards are now contactless. I think many Americans don’t know they have contactless cards since when I am at stores they are still inserting them. At the grocery store a lady customer was having a problem with her chip card and the cashier took it and tapped it and the transaction went through. The lady customer was dumbfounded.
  12. Since the drugs are a prohibited item and were found in his cabin Royal might not have allowed him to continue his cruise.
  13. They probably would have to have the money sent. One thing I noticed this year the fines reported seem to be less. Under $2000. A few years ago the fines were $3000 to $7000. But I don't know that all the fines are reported.
  14. Some phones use AI and fake it. Samsung was caught doing that. https://www.theverge.com/2023/3/13/23637401/samsung-fake-moon-photos-ai-galaxy-s21-s23-ultra
  15. As I posted in the other thread where you asked it can be either side at the Dockyard. Wind conditions, need for maintenance on one side can effect which side.
  16. I never had to use a pin either on my land trip to Iceland and the merchants don't want cash. Also most cc terminals would do contactless. The taxis take credit cards. One exception though, outside many toilets there is a request a small donation, a bowl or some such. It is an honor system so if you don't have Krona, don't worry.
  17. Don’t book a hotel through Princess unless you like to give away money. Book direct with a hotel.
  18. I would miss the coffee machine. I am surprised though that the Diamond Lounge still exists. Not because of abuse because I think that is minimal. With the vouchers they have an excuse to do away with it and not having a lounge would save them some money.
  19. Taking a chance does not seem worth the potential embarrassment........
  20. If there is a lot of demand you will get hit with surge pricing. Both Uber and Lyft do it but since there is more demand for Uber than Lyft I often avoid surges by using Lyft for the same locations. I usually check both apps and compare because sometimes one or the other will offer a discounted ride.
  21. Welcome to Cruise Critic. You have posted on the wrong board. this is the board for those asking technical questions about the boards but no doubt the mods will move it to the Oceania board. Vista is a new ship in a new class of ships for Oceania and has only been in service a couple of weeks so I don't think you can get a quality answer to your question. Not from your TA or the concierge or anyone else. If you book a brand new ship there are going to be unknowns.
  22. The owner of Calico Jack's has posted on the internet that they have reopened. They are the Pirate Ship located on the dock. Their hours will be 12:00 PM to 10:00 PM.
  23. There have been a lot of comments and there are several restaurants that it could be. If you want fancy type good food with a waterview then the suggestion made by princeton123211 would be what you want. Thinking about all the posts about Hamilton reataurants with water views I think that you probably read a previous post by princeton123211. There is also Harbourfront which is at BUIE that has outdoor seating facing the harbour. Check the menus of the above on their websites. Flanagans which has been suggested is actually my favorite for lunch is more moderately priced, has good pub type food which I prefer for lunch because I prefer a more casual lunch with good local draft beers available on tap. At Flanagans you would have to get seated on their balcony for the water view. Balcony seats might not always be available.
