  1. Since I don't own any cruise line stocks I don't care if the cruise lines stay afloat. They can sink, 😥 which might be sad for some people, but most of their ships will stay afloat and offer cruises just like now. The only difference might be their name, paint job and any profits will go to other owners. A rose 🌹 by any other name ... still has chair hogs. 😊
  2. Geez, you Yanks want to take credit for everything. You guys are not the only ones who expect a lot of things without having to pay for them in any way. That's a human trait not just an American trait. So stop thinking you're worse than the rest of us! 😉 Oh, BTW talking about taking credit for things, No, something is not as American as apple pie! Something is as British as apple pie, they invented them! And stop taking credit for Justin Bieber, he's Canadian ... 🤔 ... 🤔 ... on second thought, keep taking credit for the Biebs. 😊
  3. STOP ALL THE WHINING! RCL's auto gratuities might be going up... RCL might cut back on second helpings of cheap lobster tails... RCL might may cut cabin service back to once per day... If you feel cruising life is so unfair sell your storey to an international streaming service and you'll be able to afford all these possible cost increases with that $100 million they pay you! 😁 I just manged to wring $79.95 out of one of those streaming services for my storey. Apparently, whining about whiners isn't a big of a sell. 😉
  4. I once thought about writing an algorithm to determine, to the penny, who and what amount we would tip factoring in the utility we get from each service, the cost of each service, the probability we would use each service, the time of day each service was performed, and how the tip calculated was relative to the average income of the countries whose waters we would be closet to at the time of the tip giving. I got to line number 1 of the algorithm and said "Frig it', I'm on vacation, all I want to think about is what wine to order at dinner and do I tan my front or back today. 😁
  5. But if is a U.S, passport, she would have to cross into the U.S. to pick it up? Or does the U.S. passport office have an office in Quebec?
  6. Firstly, we will have to agree to disagree on fee based vs. commission models. Second, when telling the "why did the chicken cross the road?" joke I tend to keep it simple and don't bother to get into whether is was a Plymouth Rock, Rhode Island Red, or Buckeye variety or a further discussion of the relative merits of each, or whether it was crossing the road in midtown Manhattan or in Kalamazoo. Sometimes brevity is better. 😉 Lastly, who's George? (And yes folks, I might regret asking that question.🙂)
  7. If you want to avoid paying for a table cruise in November when they might be showing the CFL's Grey Cup. 🏈 🏆 The place will be practically empty. 😁 AAAARRRRRR-GGOOOOOSS!
  8. I see you didn't smell the showgirl or the Captain like he did back in 2008. That could have gotten you arrested in 2022? 😁 Or did you post bail and edit those out? 😉
  9. I saw your post yesterday but didn't have time to read it all until today, after I had to comment following @Salt Lifer's post. 😁 It sounds like you were about a decade ahead of us moving more to a fee based model and away from the commission model. As I said earlier that is good for both the investors and the industry. Now let's discuss another contrarian play. Anybody buying crypto? 😉
  10. 🤯 What? We don't tax this stockholder benefit??? Thanks you letting us know. I'll be sending out a memo correcting this oversight ASAP. Yours Truly, T. Gouger, Acting Commissioner of IRS 😉
  11. There's going to be a HBR case about this someday. What a mess!
  12. I'm glad to see Royal is not charging extra for an extra plate. Now what about not charging for that extra bottle of wine that has to go with that extra plate!🍷
  13. I'm glad that the business has changed. The investing public is the winner and the industry still succeeds.
  14. So you use a financial advisor. What compensation model does he/she use? Are you satisfied with their performance for you?
  15. I was a Director of one of the Big Wall Street firm's Canadian subsidiary for a few years but I was mostly on the asset management (Buy) side. But as a Director I had a lot of dealings with a lot of our retail brokers and their management teams so I'm a little biased against the typical retail broker model. At that time, most of their compensation was driven by commissions and volume was emphasized over quality, hence my short stay - and my bias. I'm sure things have changed since and a more fiduciary model has developed so my advice to any retail investor would be to seek out an advisor who is a true fiduciary and not compensated with a commission model.
  16. Are you working with a licenced Financial Planner (not a broker)? If not, you should look into it.
  17. I agree it's discrimination but what's the problem with that? They are just indicating they don't what solo cruisers' business. So don't give them your business. Solo travellers get what they want, cheaper cruises by sailing with another line and Celebrity get's what they want. Issued solved.
  18. Maybe the guy was channeling his inner Jerome Simpson.
  19. Montreal is a wonderful post vacation vacation spot. 😁
  20. We were looking at a vacation down to the DR from Pearson and Air Canada wanted to route us through Halifax both ways. We are flying with another airline.
  21. That is heresy around here! Nobody expects the Spanish Inquisition! Our chief weapon is surprise, surprise and fear, fear and surprise. Our two weapons are fear and surprise, and ruthless efficiency.... 😁
  22. And the added bonus one buying those $200 tux's at J.C. Penny there is not enough material to let them out so your hubby has to get back into tux fitting shape! When Mrs. Dawg starts commenting that I might have put on a few pounds I take mine (it cost more than the J.C. Penny ones) to the tailor and have it let up a bit. Then I model it for her and say; "See, my Tux still fits! Now can we stop having skinless chicken every night!" 😁 So guys, don't let your wife buy your tux for you. 😉
  23. Oh criminy, we are booked on Radiance of the Seas next year in cabin 8606, the one that connects with yours. I'm sure it's not the same week, BUT, how noisy are you? Do you smoke that wacky tobacky on the balcony? Do you snore like a freight train at night? We don't smoke and are very quiet. Of course, Mrs. Dawg says I snore l but I don't believe her. I've never heard me snoring! But I have been dreaming that I'm one of those Artimus rockets lately. 🤔
  24. Big deal, this poor guy only had to tread water for 22 hours or so. The true strength and endurance are the CC'ers were have been treading water in this thread for 10 days! Now that's strength and endurance!! 🏆 😉
