  1. Right the biscuits and gravy are terrible but there are the can pork and beans on the buffet!
  2. Right, I never see anyone other than myself tipping in cash.
  3. I read that Grey wasn't planning on cheating so I should have said anyone instead of you. On my last trip there were custom agents in the port to pay the fees. The fees vary since the states have to get in on the action too. In Galveston it was $1.50 per pack over the limit.
  4. My phone was on airplane mode but remember these days you cannot turn your phone off since you need it for the Futtimes, schedules, menus, and messaging others with the ship's app.
  5. Why would you want to get around customs? Lying to a federal official is a crime- just pay the few bucks and go on without risking more trouble.
  6. On my June cruise, I was surprised that I could send and receive I-messages and Messenger messages while connected to the ship's free Wifi to other I-phone back in the US. I was afraid there would be charges but there wasn't. (I have AT&T)
  7. 2% is not significantly different. I either case it is not looking good. We may have Royal Carnival soon.
  8. Based on the latest financial disclosure, Carnival Corp has a probability of bankruptcy of 53% according to experts.
  9. The stock is a gamble but there a lot of gamblers on this site. Right now, you can get 100 shares for $700 that is not a big gamble I spent $3000 on that many ten years ago.
  10. TSA does not require passengers to have medications in prescription bottles, but states have individual laws regarding the labeling of prescription medication with which passengers need to comply. It is illegal to bring into Mexico some over-the-counter medicines commonly used in the United States, including inhalers and some allergy and sinus medications. Specifically, products that contain stimulants (medicines that contain pseudoephedrine, such as Actifed, Sudafed, and Vicks inhalers) or codeine are prohibited.
  11. 10 years ago, you could take it back to your room but I am not sure about today.
  12. The insurance I purchase claims if your ID is lost or stolen they will take care of it. Thankfully, I have never lost an ID but I like having the confidence if it does while I am traveling, I will have someone to help me.
  13. Of course, I would not want to miss a vacation over a lost ID or passport but it is good to have insurance just in case. The travel insurance I use covers trip interruption due to lost ID.
  14. I agree but also realize stuff happens that is why I have travel insurance.
  15. Answer to both questions are no. The MDR is not open for lunch on embarkation day and really not any day except for Sea Day Bunch that ends at noon or 1:00. As for your luggage you have to keep up within until the cabin is ready. I personally, would never carry-on everything.
  16. Half the adults in the world probably have some kind of medical condition that should require the limitation of alcohol and could get a medical professional to write a statement. This would disrupt the Carnival marketing plan so I doubt they will allow it but good luck.
  17. In June the aft pool was not adults only. The Serenity area is adults only with hot tubs while the spa has a therapy pool that is for the spa guest.
  18. I years past, there were last minute deals. I personally walked up to a cruise ship and booked right then and there back in the 20th century (Commodore Cruise Lines) but it is my understanding now they have to file government paperwork days before sailing so last-minute bookings are not really a thing.
  19. The future of the cruise industry as a whole is still somewhat questionable. Sure, bookings are up, ships are full but stock prices are still at dirt bottom and who knows what will happen to fuel prices in the next few years. The cruise industry may have built too many ships and once all the newer ships begin sailing many of the older ships will be gone and along with them the small ports will unlikely be left out.
  20. I am booked for Mobile for the Spirit, but it will not surprise me if it does not happen.
  21. They offer a variety of cups for an additional purchase.
  22. I was just asking if someone actually drinks enough virgin drinks to make purchasing cheers for a non-drinker viable. (It does seem the booze nullifies the calories for some people.)
