  1. If I upgrade to premium drink package, do I get two specialty dinners or is the second meant for a partner if I am a solo cruiser?
  2. I just got one yesterday for Thanksgiving cruise. I am in solo cabin, inside. The invitation says offer is for 2 so I assume I would have to pay double price to get an upgrade
  3. I love the premium wine list. Do both passengers have to take the upgrade to premium?
  4. Does Princess allowed you too disembark early? The issue is Paris is the night before we disembark in Southampton. Could we disembark in Paris?
  5. Yes, we had two people. I couldn’t believe it when I saw it either so I called all my friends. Ended up they were seven of us. The girl who went solo Room got the $2400 fare before final payment.
  6. In May, I was on jewel of the Sea. We were in a suite so it allowed us to experience the concierge lounge. My overall experience was not what I had expected. I most definitely enjoyed the bartender who was in charge of making all the drinks and picking up the tables after people had left. The other staff member, the concierge was also very attentive to the patrons. The selection of liquor was very limited. one day I asked for my normal gin and club soda, and I had to accept the house gin. I would’ve thought for the money we paid for a suite,The selection would’ve been top shelf. The appetizers were plentiful, but nobody ever ate them. There were many fried items, but they were all room temperature. The cheese selection was also very limited and look like they had been out for several hours because the edges were dry. The staff could not have been better. I did make my feelings known to an officer that was walking around interviewing all of us. I had hoped to write a note on my survey, but it had already expired by the time I get home and I did make my feelings known to an officer that was walking around interviewing all of us. 7. We also did this amazing cruise. We all booked obstructed balcony for around $2000. I always buy during a holiday. And I believe it was July 4 the year before. We also got $300 on board credit. Our obstruction was actually just the waterline, not looking forward, so it worked out. We took a few royal Caribbean excursions only because we didn’t trust the timings. We did the flam Railway on our own and took the 12 noon rail. As reported earlier, the food was mediocre to me but then again, I’m used to celebrity cruise line. I certainly had enough to eat and would say we , booked this cruise for the itinerary. The midnight sun was a beautiful experience. The entertainment was also just mediocre. Mostly just the dancing and singing of the Royal Caribbean dancers. Again entertainment was not what we really went for. It was the itinerary. I think the staff was absolutely fabulous. Bartenders waitstaff ,room stewards were always on top of things. We started our cruise in Amsterdam for four days and that was very enjoyable. We went to the Anne Frank house also, getting our tickets way before hand. I never saw weather change as quickly as I did this cruise within the same minute. It was sunny and then it would go to rain. Glad I packed lots of layers, but I did need to buy a raincoat as mine wasn’t long enough to keep me dry. I used my medium winter jacket, my hat, and not too often my gloves during the cruise.
  8. How do you know if there is a host or does every sail have one?
  9. I just went on Norway-Artic circle on Royal Jewel of the Sea. I’ve been to Alaska cruising twice. Norway surpasses Alaska. Alaska ports remind me of the Carribean with all the standard shops. None of that in Norway. Fjords are magnificent. Such a low key country-only beautiful sights that you can see from your ship, excursions of course add to the experience
  10. Aren’t you concerned about the roughness of the seas with a winter TA?

    Florence

Is there a Royal Carribean shuttle that just takes you from the port to Florence? I don’t want to go to Pisa, just Florence
  12. This grand suite was one on an upgrade bid. My roommate really wanted to have a grand suite. It was won on an upgrade bid. My roommate really wanted to have a grand suite since she has mobility problems. She thought the larger balcony and room would be better for her. We originally had a balcony. She did a fairly generous bid and she got the room. So a travel agent would’ve helped us. You proved a good point though. I should make a new posting ‘“bidder beware” .
  13. We had the suite last week on the Jewel in Norway. All week, we reported that there was a sewer smell in our room. Multiple times, they tried to fix it but they were unable. Very disappointed after spending so much money for this experience. I would say this is a permanent problem in the room Also, there was a long overhang that prevented us from seeing the top of Norway Fjords This was more obstructed than any cruise I have taken. If you book this room, be sure you aren’t interested in sightseeing and be sure to bring lots of room freshener . I did a lot of research and I did not know this about this room . It should be listed as obstructed view.
  14. Last week I got off Jewel of the Sea. We had a grand suite, went to the concierge lounge, had any time dining and had a positive time with the staff. We took a few extra days to come home and I was unable to do my survey in the allotted week. I think Royal Caribbean should give more than just one week to do it. I had lots to say. Is it that they just really don’t want to know?
  15. I disagree. I gave ‘Great job” comments on embarkation and disembarkation. I gave “not so good” on the taxis they allow to work the port to take cruisers out
  16. I went on Jewel of the Sea a few weeks ago through Amsterdam. I was very impressed by the organization of the boarding process. The porters quickly took my bag and we were checked in within 10 minutes. We did arrive at our allotted time. With the disembark that also went quite smoothly. Found our luggage and was shown the door to go out to get a taxi. There was no customs that we had to check with. The bad part was the taxi. Within minutes, the line went quickly and it was our turn to get in the taxi. We were traveling to.Haarlam, so I asked how much the cab would be. He said he uses the meter when we about 3/4 of the way to our destination I realize the meter had never been on. The cab driver charged us €185. our hotel told us we were overcharged by at least $100. I knew enough to ask how much it would be but did not observe that the meter was not running. Everything happened so quickly that we were somewhat disorganized in our own mind. It was literally picking up luggage to in the cab in five minutes. Be sure that the meters are running in Amsterdam. Before the cruise, we stayed in Amsterdam for five days. We met a couple that was charged €185 airport to the hotel Where we were charged €85 with lots of luggage and four people. Beware of the taxis.
  17. We decided to spend the day in Haarlem . We will take a taxi cab to there when we get off the ship and we made a reservation at Haarlem hotel in that town. The next morning we will go to the airport.
  18. I have been trying to figure out how to transfer from London to the cruise port in Southampton for a princess cruise in July. I know how to work this website but I can’t find an answer. Could someone please help me. I am also looking to transfer off the princess cruise ship and get to the airport to get a noon time flight. I’ve called Princess and I’ve got the runaround.
  19. I also had to call Royal Caribbean for my anytime dining reservations for our group of seven. They said because I did not book directly with Royal Caribbean for the cruise, they had to book our dining manually. It took many phone calls and lots of time to get it settled.
  20. Does Holland allow door hangings? We are going on Rotterdam tomorrow and don’t know if a magnet will hold our decoration?
  21. WCB is more intimate than the martini bar. I see the martini bar as chaotic at times..
  22. I just did a transatlantic and our upgrade was almost $20. It was worth it for me. We enjoy the World Bar and each drink would cost about $8.00 more. A great saving just for that.
  23. This was my first transatlantic. I was disappointed With the weather. Wish sun was out and not so windy. I loved the experience. Definitely like gaining an hour each night. West to East has it advantages. I was afraid of hurricane season causing problems. Very port intensive first several days. I especially liked when the Captain had his rock concert. He played guitar and sang great songs for an hour. What a treat. If you love cruising, a transatlantic is for you !!!
  24. With the shutdown looming ahead, it will change, not for the better.
