  1. Brings back memories with Celebrity from years ago. Offer, confirmation, and what we thought was an agreement. Our 7 day Caribbean cruise with friends was canceled because of a scheduling change. We were both offered to sail on the same date, same ship, in the same staterooms, for the same price, but it would now be a 14 day TA crossing BCN to FLL. We got a fax confirmations and started to make flight and hotel plans. A month or two later on our CC roll call, everyone posted their names names and cabin numbers. Imagine my surprise when somebody posted the same exact cabin as ours and we both had confirmations. I immediately called our TA. Seems that Celebrity had double booked us on top of those that were supposed to be on the crossing two weeks prior. Celebrity said it was a mistake and refused to honor the offer made by one of their reps. When our TA pressed them about the confirmation, they stated that a faxed confirmation did not constitute an agreement. It is still a running joke between our friends and us ever since. When we book cruised together, better check to see who else is sailing in your cabin, and was that at a FAXED confirmation? Oh, and we haven't sailed on Celebrity since. 🤪
  2. Something you really don't think about happening. We have a cruise booked out of Galveston next November that we are driving to. We have reserved parking in the express lot right next to the pier. We were going to drive our all electric Hyundai SUV, but think we will take our larger gas powered SUV. Batteries and salt water don't mix to well.
  3. Or the guy facing you with a bluetooth earpiece and phone that you can't see. You think he just said something to you and you answer him to find out he is actually on a call with somebody.
  4. My guess is the $149 one includes lunch and the other one doesn't, hence the reason for the additional 30 minutes. You would think it would be included in the description. Maybe the copied and pasted the other and failed to add the lunch part?
  5. My wife always packs two thongs. One for her left foot and another for her right. 🤪
  6. Thanks! That is what I assumed was the case.
  7. The 2027 ADA codes also will include automatic opening doors on all accessible stateroom doors and bathroom doors. The Nieuw Statendam just came out of drydock. Part of the drydock was to bring the ship up to the 2027 ADA guidelines.
  8. Three types on all Carnival Corps ships. Fully Accessible. Wider cabins to help maneuver a wheelchair or mobility scooter That is correct. We always have to book fully accessible, because we are both use mobility scooters. Fully accessible also means roll-in showers. Here is the description. Fully Accessible suites are designed for use by guests with highly limited or no mobility who require regular use of a wheelchair, scooter, or other similar assistive devices and provide accessible elements including turning space, accessible routes throughout the cabin, and accessible bathrooms. Fully Accessible – Single Side Approach rooms are also designed for use by guests with highly limited or no mobility who require regular use of a wheelchair, scooter, or other similar assistive devices. These rooms provide an accessible route and clear floor space on only one side of the bed in a cabin configured to provide one bed and between the beds in a cabin configured to provide two beds. Ambulatory Accessible rooms are designed for use by guests with mobility disabilities who do not require the regular use of a wheelchair, scooter, or other similar assistive devices. These rooms provide some accessible features. The configuration of Accessible Suites may vary from the non-accessible suites.
  9. We are traveling with friends that are in a full suite that gets reserve class. We are not. What happens if they want us to dine with them?
  10. Thanks Lew! Hope you are doing well. That's what it appears. We are actually spending time in Umbria and Tuscany pre-cruise We may have to spend the last night at a CIvitavecchia hotel and arrange for a local private driver or taxi to drop us at the port. It has been a long time since our Red Hot Ruby cruise. That was a fabulous cruise. One of our top cruises ever. Sailing out of Venice was magical.
  11. Am I able to drop my wife and luggage directly at the ships terminal before returning my rental car? My wife and I are both disabled and use mobility scooters to get around. It presents some unique challenges especially with luggage. I know about the shuttle service from Largo della Pace, however my wife cannot manage the steps getting onto a bus. I was hoping that I could drop her and the luggage off, return the car to Avis, then ride my scooter to the shuttle which is only a block away. Thanks in advance for your help.
  12. In your photo it looks like the glass covering the pool is closed. Has it been that way for most of the cruise? Also, are the pools heated?
  13. Also wanted to add, if you booked through a travel agent, they would be the ones to contact Princess to get your Captains Circle number to have this counted towards. Also, did you have a name change since your previous sailing?
  14. I would contact them again. Loyalty programs don't expire. Seems to me the person was just to lazy to investigate it further. It may be something just as simple as a different email address, name spelling, etc. I just checked ours. They have all five of ours dating all the way back to our first Princess cruise in 1994 on the original Crown Princess. Good luck!
  15. We have chosen to do a fall 2025 TA cruise and needed an accessible cabin. The only ones Available verandahs were on deck 8 and we chose 8132. We are not early risers and we try to avoid being just below the pool deck. This one appears to be above the pool towel storage area. Anyone have problems with noise in this stateroom?
  16. We look at both. Our friends prefer Celebrity as they get a lot of perks for being Diamond Plus on Royal and Celebrity shares their loyalty programs. I have looked at Celebrity's pricing and found it to be significantly higher than Princess and Princess also wins out with their current Plus and Premier inclusive packages which also includes gratuities. The second thing is the lowest rate on Celebrity is a non-refundable rate. The price is even higher if you choose to go with a refundable rate. That being said, I wish Celebrity sailed out of Galveston. For us, being able to drive to the ship is a real plus.
  17. That's the best part. It is go, go, go. Then slow, slow, slow as you sail to FLL. And you gain an extra hour almost each day as you head west. More time to rest and relax and do the fun things you want to do.
  18. Great News! Thank you so much for taking your time to find out for us! It was such a pain on our last cruise trying to hold the door open with my foot while trying to get my scooter in. I am enjoying following this Live thread.
  19. So, at the M&M this morning, we were told a large portion of the dry dock work entailed retrofits to get the ship accessible. They're required to conform by 2027 and this is the first ship HAL has brought to standards. Lowering counters and/or adding areas that can accommodate wheelchairs was a major portion of the changes. Changing door swings and how they open (push buttons, handles, etc) - things some people may not notice, but greatly impact navigation and functionality have been done throughout the ship. Thanks for that... That is good news for us. Both my wife and I have mobility issues and use scooters to get around. We are in Stateroom 8132 which is accessible. I wonder is the stateroom door and bathroom door will have push buttons to open. That would make it even easier to manage.
  20. Will be following your review closely. Just booked this morning the same cruise for 2025. 11/15-11/29 FCO-FLL. We also fly out of DfW. BON VOYAGE!!!
