  1. That is true for checked towels. I am guessing the vast majority of charges are for when the room steward marks your room pool towels as gone. That is what incurs the a..m. charges for towels. Quite a racket charging 40 something dollars for the towels that are usually ratty worn out looking things. I don't know who would even want to take them.
  2. Ironically Princess is not charging double the "required fees and expenses" for solos despite being under the same CCL corporate umbrella. Go figure!
  3. This was a Carnival decision, despite the fact that CA likes to pass lame laws. The change had nothing to do with the law itself.
  4. But the towels they are saying are missing are likely your room towels. I have had this happen twice over 17 years. Room steward reports them as gone (hence the 855am time) and then you get charged. They will remove it for you but it takes a while.
  5. Doing this will get you on the "no sail" list with Carnival. Better just to contact them and tell them you didn't take any towels. They will fix it eventually.
  6. I have had this happen also. They removed the charge for me. I don't touch the towels and most of them are quite beat up. I don't know who would want to take them. I think pool towels should be at request like the robes. I bet a fair amount of people don't use them but they have to be laundered after every cruise.
  7. Ironically people have shown that Princess is not doing this. Carnival made a business decision and now you get to make a business decision.
  8. The required fees and expenses is a new breakdown, before it was just port fees and taxes as one charge. This new category is now subject to penalty so it is essentially a part of the cruise fare. Depending on the cruise, solos are paying a bit more or all the way to a lot more on a one way Panama canal cruise. The difference that people are noticing in the pricing for solo is that they are paying double under the new category. Sister line Princess is not doing the double charge and some have said Carnival was going to fix this situation, but it has been now 44 days since the double charging has started. So I am guessing this is just the way it is now with Carnival.
  9. Now go try the same cruise again for two people and you will see the required fees and expenses is half amount as the solo sailing person. The required fees and expenses should be $95.37 per person when two sail instead of one.
  10. official site for Carnival. https://carnival.ourgiftcards.com/checkbalance
  11. Normally I don't check under the bed until it is time to get off. I look for any items that may have fallen under the bed during the cruise. Needless to say I now check under the bed at arrival also.
  12. Last Sept on the Panorama I went with my brother. Room 7416 interior had mold under the bed. We didn't discover until we were getting ready to leave when I checked for missing items under the bed with a flashlight as I always do. Luckily we had no adverse affects. I let the room steward know as we were leaving. Floor was wet under the bed, source unknown, looked very uniform like it had seeped from the wall.
  13. I agree, going to Princess Cay and HMC isn't the worst thing in the world. For some Nassau and Freeport would be debatable 🤣 but the $400 dollars of OBC can soften the blow with some day drinking while staying on the ship.
  14. It sure would be nice if Carnival could list FCC credits on our Carnival dot com account. As of now nothing is ever listed so whether one has a FCC is unknown unless a call is made. They should be more transparent in this regard. My Southwest account is teeming with credits and it is nice to be aware of it.
  15. Those are some high limits. As a regular cruiser without a casino deal when I have inserted my sail and sign the max I could add to a player bank was $1200 dollars.
  16. Makes sense now. I had a BM at the atrium bar.
  17. I thought this was effectively controlled with the 1200 dollar max bank at the slot? Or more specifically max charge to room of 1200.
  18. Any Spirit class ship, with the Pride being the best of the bunch.
  19. The game has definitely changed, especially for solos.
  20. Yes, gratuities will be refunded and depending on when you booked all or part of the port fees and expenses. Bookings made starting July 1st now lose more fees because Carnival changed the port fees and taxes structure and made more subject to penalty.

    Paradise Beach

They did it in March for me just to show us what the cost would be and wanted a tip accordingly with how much the "value" was.

I haven't had this problem per se in Cozumel, it is just in general that I am tired of being hounded to buy junk. It can be a real gauntlet in Cabo, Mazatlan, Puerto Vallarta, and Ensenada. Only read about some hard sells at one of the Cozumel clubs for their store, back rubs, hair braiding etc. This one was closer to port, don't remember the name.
