  1. Hmmm....if your plane arrives on time, pretty doable. The process is driven by Immigration, not Customs. There definitely can be lines at Passport Check (the European name), as several international flights arrive around that time. The next step is getting your bags, which as you have only carry ons, saves you a truckload of time. Lastly, Customs is the 'red/green" system, which literally takes a few seconds. Don't know anything about a code, and we have flown to Italy, and any number of other countries many times. Don't think catching a train is critical to clearing Immigration. I have seen people who proclaim such important issues frequently get more attention from security folks than they wished.
  2. As I write this (0134 local time), my sources say its 62 degrees and lightly raining. The symbols seem to indicate thurnderstorms, which can be very unpredictable as to exact time of occurrence. Go with the info.
  3. Define "reasonably priced". Very vague term, and sometimes not in touch with the conditions on the ground.
  4. I was thinking in terms that if they have dozens or more people staying there that are getting on the ship on a given day, they would need a serious transfer to land program.
  5. Interesting. Nice hotel. How do they get to/from the hotel to HAL's transportation?
  6. You are outside of final payment, so he should be to cancel without penalty. Unless the booking agent is causing problems. I don't think the insurance company would be involved, unless there is something here we don't know about. On this front, is it cancel for any reason insurance? As to changing names, I believe the rule is the primary on the booking can't be changed. Curious why the second person wasn't named at time of booking?
  7. As to cost, I would be asking on the NCL forum, here: https://boards.cruisecritic.com/forum/64-norwegian-cruise-line/ I agree...NCL already has all the info they need, except perhaps the flight info.
  8. Waikiki is not cheap. Land is at a premium there, just like the downtown in any major city. Agree with @princeton123211, rent a car only for the day you need it for touring. Otherwise Waikiki is very walkable. We have done 3 week long trips to the island of Oahu, staying in Waikiki every time, seen most of the sights on the island, including Northshore, hiked to the top of Diamond Head and visited Pearl Harbor three times, and never rented a car.
  9. One thing you could do to simply this is to fly home from the outlying island, rather than flying back to HNL. This is particularly a good option from Maui, as probably the widest range of flights from the out island to the mainland. As an FYI, Hawaii doesn't operate on such a strict time line as you suggest. A common phrase in Hawaii is that everything is done according to "Hawaii time". Which means "no rush".
  10. With early a flight, and complexities recently at AMS, I would stay at an airport hotel.
  11. Gangway is closed until 11:30 because the cabins aren't ready. Boarding before 11:30 is pretty rare.
  12. @terrydtx, no, we haven't gone back to see if we can get it. Our tastes run to champagne, and the current price structure and choices work for us. Plus, we have a ton of OBC, so could, if we needed to, just pay the difference on the one or two pricier champagnes, if we needed to.
  13. Volendam has Pinnacle and Canaletto. @PACD_JG asks some good questions. Maybe some reading around the board would help you understand what Volendam has to offer.
  14. VeriFly is not required, never was. It won't help much, if at all.
  15. I would be talking to some of the Shuttle services mentioned here almost daily, like Seattle Express. Essentially they would do a charter just for you.
  16. YOU mentioned Seattle. The distances in Seattle and SF are much shorter. In LA the distance from airport, or downtown LA,mto the ports, is much greater. You got a shuttle in Seattle, from the downtown area to the port that was "much" cheaper than Uber or taxi? Please tell us the provider. That would be of great value to all of us.
  17. For transport within the downtown area of Seattle, the very common recommendation for transport is taxi or Uber/Lyft. The same is true for SF. I mean, from the downtown Seattle Hilton to Pier 91 was $13 by taxi, for the taxi (not per person as most shuttles are). That was before tip, but how much cheaper would a shuttle be? Uber would be cheaper than that. Same is true for SF.
  18. Could be a number of things...housekeeping, machinery, major power/water/AC routes, etc.
  19. They are members of a Seafarers union.
  20. Possibly. On our last 3 cruises in 2022, (KDam and N. Statendam), I would say there were maybe 25 tuxes, total, across the 3 cruises. I no longer bring mine.
  21. The adding of the Elite Beverage Package for early booking is a new thing, and may not be always offered. We booked a cruise for March 2024 the day after it appeared on the HAL website...so quickly that two TAs we checked with couldn't see it...it hadn't been loaded into the TA's systems yet. It came with the Signature Beverage Package. So, what I am saying is including the Elite Beverage Package might have been a sale item only for a short time.
