  1. This really has nothing to do with X. https://www.gov.uk/world/greece
  2. That's very kind of you, but not nearly as deserved as for those in the armed services. Controllers were/are VERY well (over?)compensated considering the education/background that was required for the job. And to reiterate what @bjahil47 said, no government employee ever went unpaid---sometimes it was delayed, but basically they got time off AND got paid for it.
  3. They won't send more people to Water Island than they can get back. I suspect it's not as popular for those not docked at Crown Bay (which will probably ONLY be Wonder).
  4. "Engines" are typically located more mid-ship.
  5. It doesn't work that way. I had 29 years as a controller, several shut-downs, never missed a paycheck. We had to come to work.
  6. No way YOU would, but MANY have previously posted they've made flights in the time frame mentioned. That said, there's no way they'll exit the ship at 6AM.
  7. You missed the part where they changed their itinerary due to the weather, huh? And the 5+ meter waves they're in?
  8. They're not the only one. Carnival Luminosa is skipping ALL of its Alaska itinerary (2 ports & a glacier) and heading out on its Transpacific to Japan.
  9. You're RIGHT! Ships ARE on the move. Carnival Luminosa is skipping ALL its Alaska stops and heading straight across the Pacific. Thanks @kwokpot for the latest.
  10. Here's some sense. Norwegian Jewel, Norwegian Sun are inside passage, protected from the open ocean. Most of the others are south of the low. Wonder how are Quantum passengers are enjoying the 14' seas with 34 knots on the tail? Nieuw has 40 knots on the nose. BTW, Grand Princess is docked in Whittier. Does this help answer "Why these ships are on the move and Radiance is not?"
  11. Obviously someone failed a course in map reading and/or internet research. @70sGringo, did you look at the portion of MarineTraffic where it gives the time of the last position update??? Nieuw Amsterdam's stated posistion is 17+ hours old. See Post 103 for its actual position and sea state. Look up these ships on CruiseMapper and get back to us.
  12. I say "WOW" to one's ignorance of the situation. https://www.windy.com/-Waves-waves?waves,58.136,-147.217,5
