  1. We love the Allure but the Harmony adds that extra zing. We have sailed on the Allure or Oasis with our kids maybe 8ish times. So the Harmony added some newness to the otherwise fantastic ship.

For us the Harmony added fun - Competing with the kids on the new slides, hanging out with Mix and Mingle (the robot bartenders who are just fun to watch and people watch in that bar). There is also the escape room which has become somewhat controversial now that they are charging 20 per person. We did it when it was free. It was fine. Fun for a few of us but probably wouldn’t spend it for a big group

That being said I wouldn’t choose the Harmony over the Allure unless the dates and itinerary worked for me. Both are great.

I added the escape room 2 weeks ago and it was 8 per person.

  2. The supervisor approved it before hand. And considering all the dining reservation screw ups for us and many others, yes Royal has screwed up. Last night they overbooked Chefs Table and displaced a party. Sorry, but Royal has screwed up. And I tend to be a Royal apologist more than a critic.

OK I was just curious based on the post I quoted didn't seem like they messed up.

  3. Sheesh. Two of our party just joined us in the Pyramid lounge with our favorite bartender Sharon, and told us the following. They went to the MDR to their assigned table. Where they ate last night all alone (at an 8 top). I would have been next to them had I gone. A family took over both tables and told the waiter our friends could not sit there. So they were tableless. As I would have been. A supervisor finally came over and gave them a two top. But really, Royal. Get your act together ! And we’re all D+

What did royal do wrong in that scenario?

  4. You'll find quality control within room service to be among the absolute worst on the ships, from ship to ship, even day to day. It's, frankly, embarrassing. The burger I had on Oasis one day a couple months ago from room service was outstanding, cooked just right, with grilled onions and a soft brioche bun. The next day it was dry as can be, no onions and a stale plain bun. The cheesesteak one day had peppers/onions with an au jus, the next day nothing.

The biggest mess was when we ordered buffalo wings. The menu stipulates (or did at the time) you could choose between asian, bbq or buffalo. The first time we ordered we asked for buffalo but they brought BBQ. Upon asking about it, we were told the chef ran out of buffalo sauce but would make it the next day. When we ordered the next day, they were excited to inform us the buffalo sauce was ready. Alas we discovered it was just the same bbq sauce with tons of hot pepper flakes mixed in. Very embarrassing for them. When we explained what buffalo sauce was, they showed up the next day with plain wings and a ramekin of Tobasco with a floating pad of half-melted butter. Absolutely disgusting. It's one thing to add the fee, which I didn't really mind, under the auspice of better variety/quality/service, but its another to utterly fail on all of that AND charge the fee.

As far as the Diet Coke, it may have been a sourcing issue. The ship only has so many cans of regular Diet Coke per sailing and perhaps they started to run out or didn't get their shipment, so they started to parse out the Caffeine Free Diet Coke to room service. Could have also been the Caffeine Free stuff was expiring so someone decided to use it. Regardless, Room Service obviously had their supply and didn't think it was worth their time to track down a regular can of it for you. I've never even seen Caffeine Free outside of the Freestyle machines, so I don't think this is a common occurrence.

A real cheeses teak NEVER comes w aus jus.

  5. We are currently book in a Jr suite on deck 12 with wonderland. It's the start of a bump deck. We have the option of moving to deck 9 in a Jr suite that is in middle of bump. That floor has dazzles. I love to sleep w the cabin door open and hear the sounds of the waves. Which floor/cabin would be the better choice? Will there be a noise issue at dazzles?

  6. We currently have a Jr suite on the 12th floor. It is the start of the hump cabin. We have the chance to switch to the 9th floor in a cabin that is in middle of the hump. I love to sleep w the balcony door open and hear the ocean sounds. Which floor/cabin would be better for this?

    TIA

  7. These promos are great, only if you can be very flexible with your travel dates. My wife and I are both educators, so whenever they have the kids sale free, the dates I can travel are always in the blackout dates. So unfortunately, that promo doesn’t really help us.

I am an educator too, I save my personal days so I can travel before school gets out for winter break every other year.

    That's a great deal!

Now I wonder.... do I rebook my cancelled Majesty cruise on Nov 21 (Tues.) - the day the new repositioning are set, or wait just three more days and see if there might be something better on Friday morning before I leave for work? Decisions, decisions.
