We did it last Decemeber and loved it. I would sail anytime during the winter on Anthem. It was cold the first day, jeans and a sweatshirt. We were allowed on the top deck for sail away, I watched us go under the verazzano bridge. I recall it being cold the first and last day. We included 2 sweatshirts and pairs of jeans for the cold weather.

We sailed out of NJ in Dec. Last year. Yes it was cold, we were prepared for that it was Dec. on the east coast. We LOVED it and would not hesitate to do it again.

The OP was commenting on the fact that RCI takes 3 - 5 days to process a cc refund! Most merchants manage to issue refunds immediately. Given that everything is electronic the only apparent reason RCI takes so long is to use funds without paying for the borrowing.
That's not true. I have never received an immediate refund posted on my cc from a return, it ALWAYS takes days.

Only at CruiseCritic can you find someone who thinks that a simple refund/re-purchase is the most awful thing that's ever happened to them, and then see the thread quickly dissolve into mini-blind purchases at Walmart..................
Hilarious!!!! Sad but true. As I read the thread, in my head I'm thinking what's the big deal. Why is this worthy to post on here. I recently canceled a drink package and zoom because the bundled price was cheaper. I didn't think twice about te transactions, they credits and the new purchases. I havent even checked my cc for the credits, this was 2 weeks ago.

One of those from room laundry baskets, the pop-up kind. Keeps our dirty clothes manageable.

I have to add that I am so jealous of anyone who CAN cruise in the off season. As in not dead of summer when there are aprox. 1 billion children on the cruise ship...lol. Working in a school ( multiple handicap mostly with severe Autism) I envy people who can get away to a quieter vacation. Don't get me wrong after almost 18 years working my job I do love my job and my students. But on one cruise I actually bumped into one of my old students in the pool:eek:. Sometimes you just want to get away. However we really like Royal so I guess this is the price we pay...literally:D
I work in a school too, we cruise in December every other year. I save up personal days and use them.

We have done both private and ship excursions. Never had a problem with either. However, after being an hour late returning on a ship excursion and not getting left makes us lean towards ship excursions. It was in Panama and traffic was outrageous. Even with our late return some folks got left.

If you stay at one of the hotels near BWI, go to G&M Restaurant nearby. Wonderful local old-timey place with a huge menu and killer 8-ounce crabcakes. Read the reviews on TripAdvisor and you'll get the gist. Yum!

G&M is good but a 10 min drive from there is Timbuktu, which is 150% better than G&M. There crab cakes are worth a drive from Philly to Baltimore on any given day.

I was looking to add dining and activities to my Dec. 2017 Harmony cruise and I saw a package deal for the deluxe beverage and zoom package. I had originally purchased one of each separately, when the beverage package was either 20 or 30% off, I can't remember. The package saved me about $60, which paid for my 2 night bogo dinner package I was going to order anyway.

Did you have a tracker on the items? Find my phone app or something like that? If so, I would have demanded to use the ships Internet to find the location of these items.

Some food for thought: Just got done with the Galley Tour.
The Chef made a comment that in the sense of cross contamination for allergies. All items on the buffet are considered as being contaminated. If you have a food allergy, speak with the staff on the buffet.
Did you know that Adam Goldstein's son has a peanut allergy? I would think that Royal Caribbean could set up a portion of the Windjammer for those with allergies especially if they are made aware before the cruise and rope it off etc.
I don't know how Adam Goldstein is but your suggestion would be a disaster. I am 110% certain there is someone on every ship of every sailing w a peanut or some kind of allergy.
They can't even stop chair hogs.

On the anthem a few years ago, I got the drink package and my husband didn't. I got him a few drinks. He drank maybe 4 beers from me the entire cruise. We also were hooked up w a bartender, who knew a personal friend of ours. This person gave him about 4 more free beers the enture cruise. Is it right, no. Does it happen, yes. Personal choice as to what what sin you choose to commit because we all do.

If I don't have to shop/buy it, cook it and clean up after it and its edible, unlike the food at the Asian restaurant on the Anthem (not the sushi place) I walked out of there midmeal.... I'm a happy camper.

Something similar happened to a friend of mine while on Norwegian. He went to guest services for something can't remember at the moment, it was for a new room key or a request for a refund because their shoddy Internet didn't work ever. However the person at GS entered the wrong room number and basically accused him of stealing and trying to enter someone else's room. They called security. When they realized it was her error, they simply said..... Sorry. His aunt called once we returned and was basically told the same thing, sorry.

I feel like an idiot. I just found the most glorious button, jump to first unread thread. Do you know how many threads I have e reread to figure out where I left off in some of these live reviews? Better late than never I guess.

Sabor isn't upscale but I'm sure the upselling was annoying.

Does this truly prevent kidney stones? I noticed you said small kidney stones. I get large kidney stones about every 3 years, they ALWAYS require a surgical procedure to remove them. I have been told by several doctors I am prone to getting them and to avoid tea and salt.

As an educator, please continue as planned and leave him with mom. Also, the trip to China would be off the table but that's just me and not what you asked. Keep both rooms and let the kids share.
